Chapter 613 REVENGE
613 613. REVENGE
Within the walls of the golden castle belonging to the grand elders of the Divine Lightning guild, inside a certain chamber, the figure of a lady bound by chains connected to the ceiling revealed itself.
Her figure sat on the ground whilst several feet of chain lay around loosely, even if her wrists were connected to those chains.
Due to her head being bowed, her face was covered by purple hair which had grown severely untidy.
Her black dress featured several holes in it even if it shielded her nakedness enough.
In truth, she looked homeless.
The chains she had been bound with shone with vibrant golden runes, and even the ground she sat on had runes etched into its surface all glowing with golden radiance.
They were measures to stop the lady from calling upon her mana.
The entire room measured about 50 sqm and was painted yellow but illuminated with golden lights.
A simple black door remained the only sign of an exit. It didn’t matter to the lady though. She had no means of escaping after all.
As such she sat silently—waiting for the day of her release.
The black door eventually creaked and slid to the side, allowing entrance into the chamber.
Elder Adonis walked in, his eyes soft from slight reluctance and compassion.
“Sarah.” He called out, addressing his friend. They had grown closer during the thirty years of the war.
Elder Sarah remained unresponsive, and he closed the gap between the two of them.
She reacted.
With a snappiness quicker than the blink of an eye she launched herself toward him to deliver a powerful kick.
A kick Adonis caught easily.
“Sarah,” he muttered again, seeing her recoil because of the punishment of the oath she bore. She coughed blood even if she raised her head to glare at him.
Her crimson eyes blazed with razed intensity as animosity poured out of her existence. Despite the existence of tier 5 binds the air around her figure got charged and purple sparks flickered here and there.
An impressive sight.
“Don’t talk to me,” she clenched her teeth to speak, the oath acted on her despite its limit being the peak of the fourth realm. Still, she could withstand its punishment thanks to her higher stage level.
“I only came to check up on you, it’s been over a week but you remain hostile. You’re hurting yourself too much,” Adonis explained letting go of her leg, even if it flickered again, aiming for his face. He caught it and the ten others she tried to land.
Still, on the 12th he allowed her kick to land, and it felt like she had struck a metallic wall.
“I deserve more than that honestly, and although I know you understand our reasons it still hurt you,” the elder looked truly saddened.
Elder Sarah frowned in anger seeing sadness on his face then proceeded to land tens of blows on his figure. Both her legs and fists played a part in this.
She hated that expression. He reacted as though it was his student that had been executed. She almost ran mad from fury.
She punched him until her fists and feet bled, but Adonis remained standing. Enduring her method of venting. That was the least he could do considering he had ended Noah’s life.
Still, Sarah’s punch suddenly lost its power as pain and sadness overwhelmed her mind. She hated to find herself in that weakness, but it couldn’t be helped.
Warm tears streamed down her cheeks as her expression crunched up in exploding emotional pain.
Hurt ravaged Adonis’s chest at that sight. Sarah remained one of the strongest individuals he knew, that sight showed how much the decisions of the guild and the royals damaged her.
He ended up pulling her closer in an embrace whilst she sobbed in his arms.
This continued for not too long before she finally calmed down.
“Did he suffer?” Elder Sarah asked at some point, her voice cracked from sobbing.
A soft smile bloomed on Adonis’s features. He recalled how he felt it was an honor to witness the death of such a spectacle of an expert.
“No. His exit was a dramatic one, and we both know how he was.”
Elder Sarah heaved a deep sigh at that point even if she chuckled at the thought of what Adonis said.
“He was a bastard with a jumble of surprises. I thought they had ended only for him to pull a new one out.” Suddenly those memories felt precious. She would treasure the time she spent with that man.
The duo ended up in this long conversation that saw Sarah recounting her experiences with Noah. Most were during the days of his training. He had only been a measly third-tier expert.
This had been her way of letting her pain subside. Adonis played along. He still found it entertaining since he never knew Noah personally.
Unfortunately, she didn’t have any recent ones because he had only just stopped being emotionless when he was once again snatched away from her. This time she had no hope of ever seeing him again.
“The whole thing is hard on the others too. None of them had the guts to show up here after the last time. That’s why they sent me.”
“We had tried to bargain our way around his death, but the royals would not budge. Apparently, an imperial knight reported that he was rather suspicious and said he was a threat that needed to be eradicated… Those bastards.”
Sarah’s eyes sharpened at that piece of information. Adonis could instantly tell what thoughts ran through her mind. After all, hostility seeped out of her very existence and he felt chills.
“Why didn’t you tell me that earlier?” Her tone had fallen dark again.
“You were still… touchy,” the expert averted his gaze.
Sarah’s mouth fell open and her eyebrow rose.
“What did you just say,” she glared at him.
The expert cleared his throat.
“We managed to get the name of the imperial knight,” Adonis revealed and he regained her full attention.
“I won’t tell you now—till you promise you won’t make a fuss anymore, you have to see the expressions on those geezers at the thought of approaching you,” he chuckled.
She gritted her teeth even if she nodded.
Even Elder Sarah understood that the only reason she had not been released was because of her tendency to cause destruction. They couldn’t kill her. Not after losing Noah.
Ironically, his death had increased the value of all the other experts in the fourth tier and even below. In reality, the appearance of such an expert had to be once in centuries.
Adonis squinted his eyes and she rolled her eyes before stepping back.
The elder nodded and waved his hand.
The metallic binds set loose and she could move freely.
“Now we should get you-” Adonis was cut short by the violet bolt of sparks that landed on his figure with a terrible roar.
“-Cleaned up.” He revealed a blank expression.
Elder Sarah’s mouth opened in surprise. .
“You really are a fifth-tier expert now. I had been wanting to meet but they said you were stabilizing your power,” she nodded in affirmation, flexing her wrists.
“Oh,” Adonis scratched his chin. The attack had been absorbed by the layer of protection he had around himself at all points. But even if that had not been present he would have still been fine.
“Let’s go. Staying over a week in this rag has been uncomfortable,” she picked the black dress with her pinky, glancing at its various holes. One existed rather close to her chest.
“Oops, you could have seen my boobs.”
“You’re un-serious,” Adonis retorted instantly, rolling his eyes in a blank expression.
Sarah gave a cheeky giggle inching closer. “Do tier-five experts still feel sexual arousal?” She asked purely out of curiosity but her demeanor remained playful and suggestive.
“Leave me. Wait till you get here,” Adonis hissed in response turning to approach the exit.
“Oh come on. You’re the only person In the world I could ask these types of questions,” Sarah whined, following closely behind him as they continued to banter walking down the various halls.
“He said he had another name… it was Noah,” Adomis revealed when she had gotten q change of clothes.
“He said he wanted you to know.”
“Oh…” her crimson eyes gleamed with resurfacing pain, but she took a deep breath regaining her cool.
“Let’s go.” Sarah took the lead as they approached the throne room of the Grand elders—resolve forming In her chest
Despite her now calm demeanor, Sarah already had a simple plan in her head. She would find the knight that lied on her student and kill him.
Even if it were the last thing she did; she would have revenge for her student and knew darn well the guild wouldn’t stop her.
I hope you enjoyed it!
