Chapter 579 579. SEA OF BLACKNESS
Noah flew within the many underground tunnels of the underground expanse. Of course, Erolia flew with him and the green rivers of goo remained evident below them. Lighting that tunnel up with its mysterious green light.
“We should be arriving at the section with the hole,” Noah announced to Erolia since she could not unfold a consciousness. She nodded, preparing herself for whatever was to come.
She still had Muliix on and liked it. That way she didn’t have to worry about getting touched by anything within that place.
Just as Noah had said, a huge gap in the river suddenly unfolded in their eyes. The ground had collapsed on itself reaching depths that they did not care about, but also somehow, the green goo stopped pouring into that hole, leaving the remaining path clear and free of goo.
Noah and Erolia floated to the ground at that point and noticed how sturdy it was.
According to what he had found out from being in that environment long enough, Noah understood that the deeper one went into the ground the more sturdy and robust the earth was.
Only tier-4s could affect that area around them as the deeper they went, the closer they got to the planet’s core, only a few having reached its real core.
The duo began to walk at that point and Erolia could not but marvel at how wide and huge that tunnel was.
Both figures were tiny in comparison to the gigantic walls of that place. They could stack at least four three-storied buildings and there would still be room. Its width was something else too.
“We should probably just run there,” Erolia remarked, shattering the sound barrier to sprint towards their destination. Noah did the same and reached her before she could even get there.
The duo stopped before a huge dark hole oozing great amounts of quality mana.
Noah sucked in the air with his mouth, pulling mana also. He allowed his body to purify that energy and felt some gains enter his body.
“I should be able to create something capable of gathering mana,” Noah spoke out loud, but he figured he would do that later.
An incredible amount of mana already flowed outside of that place. He wondered just how much the being needed.
Its power was also great, Noah believed it stood at a level very close to the fifth tier! That was the only explanation. Higher stage tier 5 beings would be too much for him. 6th tier would obliterate him in a fight, he couldn’t begin to wonder.
“Do we jump in?” Erolia asked peeking into the dark hole. In their location within that expanse, there was only utter silence. Only their presence created sound. Noah could hear Erolia breathing without too much effort. Then again he had super hearing abilities, to begin with.
“Yes,” Noah replied. “But we can simply lower ourselves into the pit. Even before we get to the guardian there are still things that we need to watch out for, like the monster in the hole.”
According to the words of the being whose name, he still didn’t know, there was one hurdle before actually getting to the guardian, and that was the monster in the pit.
Apparently a serpentine monster of the darkness element. Noah could see similarities between the guardian of the heart of the apocalypse and the guardian of the pit.
Fortunately for the being, the darkness element was weak to its creations, even if it could still hurt them. Not as intensely as the light element, however.
Still, the monster remained at the very peak of the fourth tier and wasn’t like the average magical beast. Born from Cregar, it could draw power from the very darkness around it. For this reason, it stayed within deep darkness.
The monster also had control over the entire pit. Only that it was slow to act till they got to certain points. Due to the lack of light, the being had been unable to tell them exactly when they would get attacked since its behavior was consistent.
In short, they were working in the dark.
The being listed the abilities the monster could unleash and they were basic except for when it got serious. The voice testified that it had needed to send about ten of its peak tier 4 creations to actually best the monster and escape its power. He couldn’t kill it as long as it was in the dark.
A darkness created directly from Cregar’s mana. Essentially the peak of darkness the world could achieve at that level.
“We’ll be careful, but scale through,” Noah announced and Erolia nodded. Not only was he of the light element, but he was a Speedling.
Both individuals jumped into the pit at that point and Noah could immediately notice similarities to the woman he had killed last.
Her darkness; although had gone a different path from Cregars due to her status as a human cultivator, possessed significant similarities especially when she boosted her power to the level of a quasi-tier-5.
“This is interesting…” Noah muttered, whilst he and Erolia traveled deeper and deeper into the pit by standing on a platform of air that he created.
Noah closed his eyes to unfold his consciousness. He, however, found out that he could not see anything. Or at least the darkness felt dense even to his mental waves. That had transcended simply the physical.
Despite that detail, Noah continued their travel. He even closed his eyes since he understood that his organ for sight was useless even if mental waves could not do much, at least in its base form.
Mere seconds into that journey danger spiraled into the very air around them, and as they got deeper, Noah Could feel a heavy aura ooze with such an intensity that it shook Erolia.
The aura remained so dense and powerful that Noah imagined tentacles of that aura simply slamming into the world around them while they got closer and closer to the real deal.
The average tier 4 would be unable to cross that portion of the pit but Noah simply continued. He could not estimate their location or their speed. It didn’t seem like they moved since even the air remained stale in that environment. .𝘤𝑜𝑚
“We’re getting closer,” Noah communicated through their connection, and merely ten seconds later, his instincts rang with clear orders. Orders that he swiftly obeyed.
Pulling Erolia closer to his figure Noah raised his hand and said a single sentence
“Radiant judgment.”
The world around him thrummed as a magical triangle within a magical circle unfolded. At least they tried to unfold.
Noah felt curiosity spring forth in his mind when he saw that mere seconds after he cast his spell, the magical triangle and circle saw darkness drowning their spectacular radiance, the spell itself never actually coming into existence.
They had officially entered the depths of the sea of blackness.
