Chapter 488 488. THUNDERBIRD
A whirlwind flew across the skies of the Cusk nation. Its pace remaining relatively steady. The passage of the whirlwind sounded like the roaring of the great wind that it was, but it dealt no damage to the environment.
Noah sat within the whirlwind, his eyes had lost focus, and stared into the blankness of the spinning gray wind around him.
He looked idle, but a conversation went on in his mind. The system proved incredibly useful as a companion, but after what it told Noah, he knew there was far more to it than he had seen.
Not only could the system switch voices. It could actually manifest a physical form!
The only issue was Noah’s body currently stood unable to handle such a process. He would die.
It informed him that the peak of the fifth or sixth tier would allow that flexibility. For now, the most it could do was be a voice in his head.
“So what were you saying about a beast? I believe it should be the pet I was promised,” Noah pointed out at some point, and the system paused.
“As a matter of fact. It is,” the system’s feminine voice resounded in Noah’s head. There was a voice literally living rent-free in his head. But it was super important. ‘I guess it’s not living rent-free then,” Noah considered.
“Rent-free. Who? Me. We’re talking about your pet-to-be, why are you diverting to rent?” The system commented on his thoughts. Noah already knew his thoughts were completely accessible by the system, but that ease remained quite unexpected.
“Nothing, don’t worry. Let’s talk about the beast. What am I to do to get it,” Noah promptly resumed on the main topic.
“Absolutely nothing,” The system replied, and Noah watched that same screen unfold in front of him.
“I’ll do all the work. It was an inheritance, and I’m the brain behind it. Just sit back and watch. You might want to disperse that whirlwind, however,” It explained as the space around Noah trembled.
He quickly dispersed the tornado and stood up to watch whatever was supposed to happen, happen.
A weird sensation spread in his head. He felt dizzy even if he wasn’t. It felt like a completely new experience, and his body reacted in some way.
A purple linear tear opened in the fabric of space before him. He still wondered how all those were possible.
The tear grew wider until it turned oval.
“You’ll have to choose now,” the system stated, and Noah nodded.
Multicolored lights flowed out of the insides of that tear and soon three objects revealed themselves to him.
Three oval-shaped objects floated out of the event to hover before him. Noah took in their features while the silver screen before him changed its written contents.
[1: Gorgon. 2: Thunderbird. 3: Fairy]
He would have to choose one of them, but he desired certainty on which one to choose.
“Can I have their descriptions?’ Noah asked, and the silver screen before him switched.
[Gorgon: A deadly creature possessing the form of human females. Gorgons are violent unforgiving creatures who have venomous snakes in place of hair. Their special ability includes turning any living thing that gazed at them, into stone]
[Thunderbird: A terrifying bird-like beast with power and authority over storms and lightning. The Thunderbird is a great, fierce hunter who in turn possesses great might in its harness. Natural disasters form at its presence]
[Fairy: A creature born out of pure magic and light. The fairy is capable of magical wonders and is known for its kindness and supportive nature. The fairy is a powerful creature capable of boosting its master magical prowess many folds]
Noah stared at those short descriptions after the system read them out to him. His mind worked quickly to allow him to come to an equally quick decision.
All three of the creatures held great abilities. The Gorgon was probably capable of wiping out whole armies by suddenly appearing before them. The damage would be done before anyone could properly.
The fairy’s ability to increase its master’s magical abilities also made it top tier in battle. But still, both of those creatures compared to the Thunderbird felt like a horrible match-up.
Noah would stick to what he wanted. A flying beast. But even better. It made him tremble at its description.
“You could have simply offered me the Thunderbird. You already know what I wanted,” Noah commented immediately choosing the Thunderbird. 𝘦𝘯𝑜𝘷𝘦𝑙.𝑜𝑟𝘨
“The rule was to allow you to choose. Your priorities could have changed over the years,” the system responded as the eggs belonging to the gorgon and the fairy returned into the hole and it closed instantly.
“We both know I barely did anything during the centuries within the chamber. But it’s all good then,” Noah responded already staring at the cerulean, white, and golden egg before him.
It shone with a soft light of all three colors and the strange runic symbols of golden intensity expressed a peculiar aura. The metallic nature of the egg allowed it to reflect light.
It looked like a rare object lost in time but had retained its beauty.
“What do I do now?” Noah asked even if he already had an idea.
“Make your blood touch it.” The system replied without providing a screen.
Noah nodded at that point. He bit his thumb with as much force as he could, and the event managed to bring forth a drop of blood.
Noah’s silver life liquid fell on the slowly rotating egg and silver light flooded the world around him.
The sound of thunder filled the world around him. It sounded like a heartbeat. A literally thunderous one.
The event contained enough power to push Noah far from the egg and he watched a multicolored illusory figure spring forth from the egg to appear before him.
It was huge, but more of all, it was both inviting and repelling at the same time.
The illusory, but intelligent bird tilted its head at Noah’s strange figure.
It stayed a while before raising its head to spread its pointed beak as wide as it could. Unfortunately, no sound was generated, confusing the beast.
“You don’t possess a physical body currently,” Noah muttered walking forward to place his hand on the almost tangible illusory beast.
It took a step back, however. Noah wasn’t. He couldn’t be after all. Only curious.
“What do I do?’ Noah asked seeing as the beast’s confusion befell it even more. It tried to fly away from Noah, but it couldn’t fly too far away from the rapidly spinning egg before disappearing and returning to the egg’s position.
The beast looked like it had gone mad.
Rather than reply to him with direct words, a silver screen appeared before him.
[An idle soul has been found within your inventory. The soul will now be merged with the bond-to-be]
A purple stone flew out of Noah’s figure at that event and the bird suddenly found itself unable to move.
The purple stone that contained Erolia’s soul floated towards the frantic spirit of the beast.
It touched it and disappeared.
A ringing sound boomed forth in the world at that point.
[Process of Bond’s rebirth will begin now]
