Chapter 446 446. BARCULOS REGION
The night time came quickly, and shockingly all the time before that point had been spent in total silence.
Noah had sat close to the windows on the carriage and gazed at the gradually passing landscapes. That scenery reminded him of the train rides on Earth. Only this one was far more beautiful and from a higher perspective.
At some point after those hours, a knock arrived on the carriage’s door, startling the trio. After all the beast was still flying.
Noah wasn’t worried however, Sir Olio had informed him of someone’s arrival. That had to be the person.
A moment after the knock, the carriage’s door parted open to allow the entry of a tall figure clothed in a silver garment featuring the crest of the guilds council.
Noah inspected the individual’s features and saw that he looked young. 𝘦.𝘰𝘳𝑔
“I trust you’ve had a good time since the journey began,” the man’s polite and soft voice reached their ears, and they nodded.
“I am sir Dere. I will be your temporary caretaker,” the expert announced sweeping his gaze over them.
Noah nodded even if he didn’t see the need for a temporary caretaker.
“We are about to arrive at our first destination. A small city in the Barculos region. Our stop would be right outside the city as we are too big of a group,” Dere explained.
Noah saw that Madison and the second man felt taken aback by the announcement.
Dere saw Noah’s confusion and opened his mouth to speak.
“The Barculos region is known for its incredible mana density which has given birth to many powerful beasts. I myself have bore witness of tens of tier four beasts roaming the region in packs,” Dere explained.
“The city is set on an elevated portion of the region which is far from its center, but beasts still roam it.”
“I have only come to inform you that a battle may unfold. But you have nothing to worry about. The council has ensured that no harm would come to you,” Dere explained nodding his head, even if his words still worried his audience.
“The stop will only last about an hour before we can resume our journey. Your carriage is set in the center of the others so there are a lot of defenses on ground, you need not worry,” Dere assured.
Noah didn’t like the situation, but there was really nothing he could do about it. So he simply nodded in response to all the tier 4 expert had said.
The Barculos region was a mid-sized region on the map of the Cusk nation, situated in the north-western region of the nation.
Their path would be directly from the north-western region of the nation to its central point where the royal palace was situated.
Sir Dere spoke to them for a while, before leaving. His departure left a dense silence amongst the trio.
“I heard that others would accompany us on the tour,” Noah revealed, breaking the silence. He for one was already tired of it.
“Apparently they will be from noble families,” he added and saw the expressions on both his listeners flicker with a bit of anger.
‘Good,’ Noah commented inwardly. The noble families had made a dark impression on him, he still had plans for the noble families Kius had spoken about.
If they had the same dislike for nobles then they could get along a bit.
Another silence unfolded at that point and Noah heaved a light sigh. If no one would talk then he wouldn’t.
“I’m Bon, from the Illusory blade guild,” the third expert announced breaking the silence.
Madison introduced herself next, and Noah did so too, setting the mood for a level of friendship. They would be together for a long while after all.
A series of small talks unfolded after that point. Noah was all too well interested in them. He had experienced enough of his lone self. He figured a bit of outward-ness wouldn’t kill him.
Their chats turned into full-blown conversations. Soon they reached the topic of cultivation. Noah said as little as he could, but learned a lot from Madison and Bon.
The hours continued to pass, and for some reason, the beasts weren’t exactly flying too fast. Maybe so they wouldn’t miss their stop point.
The carriage suddenly jerked at some point, putting an end to the conversations.
Flashes of light reached the experts and they each looked outside.
Noah spotted balls of orange flames from different points around them.
Many auras reached his senses, but they were nonlethal, at least Noah thought they weren’t since Madison and Bon didn’t directly pass out. He had the necklace for protection, they didn’t seem to possess any such thing.
Noah heard orders being thrown about, while the party of exactly 115 flying beasts in the fourth tier descended towards a certain point they had seen.
The wind blew fiercely as the many beasts descended. A huge cloud of dust rose to the night sky, but nothing reached the insides of the carriages.
Noah had a pensive expression, but he stopped himself from getting too serious.
The beasts eventually landed and the lights from the city reached them.
Noah had not been capable of getting a clear view of the city, but now that the cloud of dust had cleared he could see the light the habitation produced.
Whatever they were doing he didn’t know, but he could see that three beasts had taken off a minute after they landed.
Silence unfolded at that point. It would seem they listened for the existence of tier 4 beasts or more.
The minutes began to pass and soon Noah lost the tension he had felt upon their landing. He honestly doubted that any beast in its right mind would attack their large force.
Unless of course, it was something like a tier 5 beast. At that point, they would most likely die. He on the other hand would be able to escape quickly.
The hour eventually ended and the party of three that had departed, returned.
Nothing went wrong and they could peacefully resume their journey. Onward to the central city.
