Chapter 39 39. ELDER MANSON
Walking towards the tag that said ‘spell scrolls’, Noah browsed through the numerous shelves that had different coloured scrolls.
The shelves were grouped into, ‘attack’, ‘defense’ and ‘utility’, irrespective of their elements, though he could tell which was which, due to their colours, blue was for water, red for fire, yellow for earth, and green for air.
Picking a red scroll that was named ‘flame spikes’, from the ‘attack’ shelve, Noah opened it, and a circle with other multiple circles inscribed inside it, which had multiple markings, and some readable words entered his eyes.
‘This looks like a magic circle!’, Noah exclamained in his mind, after seeing the resemblance between the two.
At this point Noah was starting to doubt what Gerald said about humans not knowing where magic circles came from. ‘Maybe he just didn’t know’, Noah said inwardly, ‘And now that I think of it i never saw Gerald cast a spell’, he added inwardly.
Inspecting the ink drawn picture, Noah could feel like there was some sort of understanding he was gaining, but before he could come to any conclusions, a message popped up.
[Tier 1 fire spell found]
[Commencing integration with User…]
[Incorrect element found…]
[Copying spell and converting it to users
elements…]
[Error…..Function currently locked]
Noah’s eye were wide open from surprise, he could learn spells from just looking at it’s scroll. ‘Incredible’, he shouted in his mind. And the fact that the system could copy a spell and change it to his elements was surprising.
This proved how overpowered and broken he would be when he got to higher tiers.
Heaving a deep sigh, honestly he had gotten excited when the system wrote that it was copying the spell, but seeing that the function was currently locked it burst his bubble of excitement, though he kinda liked that it was locked, since he would feel like a cheat, though he already was.
He was about to return the scroll, to go check an air spell, but before he could.
“Hey you, what are you doing?!”, a man’s voice rang out a few feet next to him.
Glancing at the person, Noah was about to say something, when a buzzing sound rang out from his pocket.
“I said what were you doing?”, the man said walking closer to an already frowning Noah. He didn’t want to get attacked by the formations.
“I was checking a spell”, Noah said putting the scroll back on the shelve, and proceeding to leave the first floor, but before he could walk a few meters, the man stepped into his path, glancing up at Noah’s face, since Noah was taller.
At that sight Noah’s patience was beginning to run thin, and so was his time limit.
Being up close, Noah took a milisecond to inspect the man’s features.
The said man, was around 5’5ft in height so he was shorter than Noah. He had a nearly bald head with black hair and his face looked like someone in his thirties.
The man’s face was average at most, making Noah outshine him in looks.
“I am a staff here, and I found you trying to steal a spell”, the man said threateningly.
His sentence couldn’t help but leave Noah surprised, ‘What the fu*k is this old man saying’, Noah said in his mind, but decided to reply the man.
“I didn’t take anything, so please get out of my way, my time is running out”, Noah said his voice gaining a calm tone.
At Noah’s words the man face turned red from anger, as his tier 2 aura exploded out, alerting the others in the building.
Noah expression turned annoyed, he didn’t want to cause a scene, but this man’s aura was openly asking him for a fight.
[Hepter]
[Tier: 2]
[Level: 40]
[Chances of death: 29%]
Inspecting the man’s level, Noah got ready to move, he had around a minute and half or so, before the formations would attack him, he had to leave.
“SAY THAT AGAIN KID!”, Hepter shouted, his tier 2 voice reverberating loudly and disrupting the quietness of the building.
Shaking his head, Noah let his tightly bottled aura explode, startling Hepter who didn’t expect the young man in front of him to be that strong, though Noah was still weaker.
Both of them got ready to attack, as Hepters’ formed fist began to slightly glow brown, while Noah bent his knees slightly.
Hepter expression radiated fury, while Noah’s face radiated coldness, he was getting used to that expression.
But before any of them could move, a massive and heavy pressure landed on their figures.
Noah’s eye widened when he felt the pressure, his relaxed instincts screaming at him to escape, up till the extent that orange Sparks began to flicker around his body, he was getting ready to run.
“WHO DARES TO FIGHT IN THIS SERENE PLACE”, a voice that oozed incredible power reverberated through the entire building.
Those in tier 1 outright passing out, while those in tier 2 held their heads from the massive headache they were experiencing due to the voice.
Noah wasn’t excluded. He fell on his knees holding his head in his hands, his body still releasing orange Sparks, though they seemed to be getting dimmer.
After a milisecond or so, the hair on Noah’s back stood up, as he couldn’t help but glance upwards.
Right there standing on a dense blue platform, a few meters in the air, a man draped in a brown robe, stared at Noah and Hepters figure, his expression Immensely cold, while his body released waves of blue colored light.
Noah couldn’t help but inspect him out of instincts. .
[?????]
[Tier: 3]
[Level: ???]
[Chances of death: 100%]
Alarms rang in Noah’s, already hurting head, as he saw the tier of the man, while the chances of death confirmed his situation.
Before Noah could do anything, a dense rope of cyan-glowing water wrapped around Hepter and him, bringing them to the man’s height.
A few tens of seconds passed as the man’s aura remained, though for some reason, Noah found it bearable, albeit a little, after a few more seconds he could Inspect the man’s features.
The man didn’t look a day pass thirty, though Noah knew that wasnt true. He had long black hair that had a slight blue glow to it.
His face was blemishless and looked smooth. Noah couldn’t see the man’s eyes due to the headache that made his sight blurry once in a while.
Though he could see that the man stared at him, and he stared back. After a few more seconds the man expression flickered, into that of curiosity, though only for a second
Immediately that happened, the man’s aura vanished as though it was never there. Relieving Noah and the other tier 2’s of their headache.
“Who are you?”, the man’s voice rang out, his question directed at Noah.
Though Hepter answered, his voice very shaky, ” I..I..a…a..am He…Hepter sir, p..p…p..please forgive me”.
Tough all he got in return was the man’s murderous stare, which caused Hepter’s body to freeze and go limp, signalling that the man had passed out.
“I am Noah. Sir”, Noah answered, adding the ‘sir’, at the last second. Though his voice was free of fear.
Staring at Noah for a while, the man freed him of his spell, making Noah fall, though he landed safely.
Though immediately he did, the buzzing sound coming from his pocket stopped, signalling that his time was up.
Immediately that happened, the entire building lit up with red weird looking inscriptions. ‘Crap!’, Noah shouted In his mind.
In the blink of an eye the Inscriptions, started to form a beam of red light that pointed directly at Noah, but before the beam could be launched, the weird inscriptions flickered and died, the red light dispersing.
Shock filled Noah’s mind, as he couldn’t help but glance at the only person who he thought could do that.
As Noah’s gaze met the man’s, the man opened his mouth to talk, “You can go”, he said, his expression losing a tinge of it’s coldness.
Widening his eyes, Noah did as he was told, rushing down the stairs, and into the ground floor.
As he was about to leave the building, Noah turned back and bowed before opening his mouth to talk.
“Thank you sir. And please may I know your name?”, Noah shouted his tone respectful.
Though those standing around couldn’t help but stare at Noah with astonishment, and also glance at the expert in fear of what he would do.
But opposite to what they expected, the man nodded his head and replied, ” You may call me Elder Manson”.
Straightening his position, Noah nodded his head and left the building. Leaving those present asking themselves, ‘Who the heck was that’.
