Chapter 293 293. GRAND SERPENT
Huge cracks continued to spread on the walls of the expanse, and rocks began to break off it to slide down. Proving that the structural integrity of that place had been compromised.
This outcome pained Noah since he desired to stay and rest a bit, but he had to ignore the prompt informing him of his successful clearing of that floor; to turn into a deep-yellow streak and arrive at the now opened snake-inscribed door.
His figure crossed the door to arrive inside a long hallway. The door behind him shut, but he paid no attention to that event, all his focus being on the scene before him.
The smooth-walled hallway featured many lights that illuminated it with their multicolored radiance. The sight managed to leave Noah breathless for a second, after which he snapped out of his daze.
‘I can rest here,’ Noah sighed sitting on the equally smooth ground.
Two hours had to pass before he could feel at his peak shape. He had already noticed how long it took him to heal the higher his level was, and the issue managed to leave him worried. Albeit only slightly.
His ragged figure eventually arrived before the similarly snaked-headed door, only that this one featured many shades of purple. Part of its metal even seemed to be naturally purple.
The door surprisingly exuded an aura that felt dangerous, but Noah had stopped fearing things like that. After multiple occasions where his opponent forced danger alarms to ring but he ended up almost easily defeating them, he had learned to maintain his cool.
The large door began to move open at his arrival, and Noah saw a stairway unfold in his eyes. Only that it went up this time.
Arching an eyebrow in mild amusement, he began his ascension to whatever environment awaited him.
During his ascension, he assessed himself again. His core currently contained 27k worth of energy. His mind felt in top shape, at least most of it. And his body was completely healed.
The ascension took him a whole hour to complete, and he felt another mild wave of surprise sweep over him when he laid eyes on another door, only this time it didn’t feature a snake’s head. Actually, the door looked like a normal door, only that it was one befitting of a mansion.
Pushing the door open Noah gazed at its insides.
A wide room unfolded in his sight at that point, however, the weird smell contained within the expanse was the first detail to smash into his nostrils.
Noah felt a tinge of disgust and repulsion well up in his being at the odor, but he had to shake it off; even if its intensity remained stunning.
Sweeping his gaze on the expanse, Noah noticed the many huge holes in the ground. Only a little walking space being available.
The dimly lit condition of the large room didn’t help the danger he was feeling, and when he gazed at the end of the room, he laid eyes on a large pole featuring branches. Coiled around the scarlet pole was the figure of a purple snake far larger than the serpents he had fought.
The snake would comfortably measure around 30m in length and around 4m in width. Whether the beast had legs or not, remained unnoticeable to Noah, but he could tell that the creture before him was strong.
[You have arrived at the Last floor]
[Defeat the boss to succeed]
These panels flashed in his eyes, but he remained too busy staring at the serpent’s stats.
[Grand serpent]
[Level: 90]
[Affinity: Poison, Fire, Plant]
[Title: Dishonored serpent]
[Danger level: N/A]
“Okay whoa…” Noah swallowed hard. The beast was already ten levels above him. Already into the middle stage if he grouped the levels.
Taking a step into the room, Noah felt a powerful gaze land on his figure, sending waves of fear through his mind. Unfortunately for his emotions, Noah turned them off, and the world soon became bland before his eyes. His only goal was to kill the beast, but even in that state he doubted his ability.
A surprisingly loud slithering sound echoed in that room, as the serpent slowly moved towards the base of the pole, and its figure revealed six powerful looking arms.
The serpents reptilian eyes fixed its gaze on Noah’s figure leaving his body agitated. It seemed to study him with a level of intelligence that felt unsettling.
Noah knew he couldn’t rush ahead recklessly. Unlike the opponents he had faced so far, the beast showed a proper level of awareness.
“What is your name human?” A deep voice dripping with all sorts of vileness and able to inflict fear boomed out in the room with a commanding tone; forcing Noah’s mind out of its emotionless state and into one of pure shock.
‘Am I fucking hearing things,’ Noah inquired of himself, literally doubting his ears.
“What is your name human?” The serpents teethed mouth opened to release words understandable to Noah, and he froze in bewilderment.
“Aiden,” he eventually replied, after breaking out of his mind-reeling astonishment of course.
A moment of deafening silence occurred at that point, but the serpents mesmerizing yet menacing voice spread out again.
“Do you know why you are here human Aiden?” the serpent asked, mildly confusing Noah.
‘Is this some sort of test,’ he wondered opening his mouth to reply the beast. His mind still trembled from the experience however.
“To kill you,” Noah blatantly replied.
“I know. But you are only here because the great dungeon placed you in this realm,” the serpent replied. Most of its length still remained on the pole, with only its first two arms touching the ground.
“The great dungeon?” Noah muttered, but the serpent heard him despite of their distance.
“I see… you are from a different world,” the beast seemed to sigh.
“What is the great dungeon? And aren’t you just a randomly generated monster,” Noah asked not mincing his words. 𝚍o𝚟𝚕.org
The serpent flinched at the last part of his two questions as fury began to burn in its red reptilian eyes.
“How dare you refer to me as a mere monster, human! I am Gurmund. Progenitor of the Grand serpent race. What you see of me is but a mere fragment of my true power.”
