Chapter 288 288. APOLOGIZE
Noah recoiled in both disgust and horror at the sight that lay before him. He tried to switch to his emotionless side but the sheer amount of pain he felt didn’t allow him enough focus to do that.
The infection continued to spread at an alarming rate, as he estimated that in less than a minute his whole leg would be in that state!
Needless to say, he considered doing as the system had suggested, but he recoiled once again at the thought of severing one of his body parts. Nevertheless, he understood that he had to do something before things went worse.
Taking a deep breath as sweat broke on his forehead and many parts of his body. Noah raised his left hand over his left leg. Closing his eyes; he poured essence into freezing that body part.
He, however, grimaced when he found that he couldn’t freeze his leg. He quickly understood why, as it had to do with his comprehension. He had an affinity for ice that his body could withstand even in that state. 𝘰𝑣𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Noah did not doubt that his body could heal him, but that would have been if his healing capabilities had not been reduced by 80%.
He had to come to the grim decision of amputating his leg. Unfortunately for him, the forest wouldn’t allow him. Or at least it seemed to time its attacks at such fragile moments.
A dense wave of purple gas suddenly washed over his immediate environment, and Noah quickly found himself breathing that substance down his throat.
[You have inhaled poisonous gas]
[Your health is deteriorating rapidly]
[It is advised that you leave the environment filled with this substance]
Noah watched those panels flood into his now hazy eyes. The urge to sneeze befell him and he succumbed to it. But only blood came out of his nose.
Noah watched his health stats drop by 500points each second, and the fear of death applied its cold grip on him.
He was caught up with two decisions, to either leave that place as fast as he could or sever his leg and risk not being able to leave fast.
Noah chose to escape first, and each time he tried to stand, he felt a sharp pain shoot up his knee and then back to his legs.
In the span of a few seconds, he felt a heaviness befall his entire body, as it took tremendous effort to even be able to kneel properly.
‘I have to get out of here,’ Noah thought slowly. His breathing had gotten slower and his eyes had started falling.
Calling upon the speed forces empowerment, he felt a wave of power rush into his mind, keeping his mind in good shape. At least for that moment.
Noah soon stopped breathing air to start breathing his speed essence, but his symptoms persisted.
Eventually managing to stand on his right leg, Noah tried to; although painfully place his left leg in a standing position. Pure pain wrecked his mind forcing tears out, but he grit his teeth although weakly, and managed to rise.
Due to the speed forces empowerment, Noah managed to withstand the incredible pain he was experiencing, but the more than ten boils on his leg began to burst when he successfully stood, sending intense jolts of pain to his mind.
His infected leg exploded in a gory mess a few seconds after that event began.
A scream of numbing agony escaped Noah’s mouth as he stumbled and began to shiver madly. His eyes fell on his left knee and confirmed that nothing existed past his knee point. This needless to say caused even more pain, as blood spurt out of that incredible injury.
His leg had cleanly exploded, but the infection or poison continued to spread anyway.
With no seeming way out of his situation, Noah called upon his golems. Heavy movements soon spread around him, as two icy monsters manifested from a magical circle.
One of the golems carried and placed Noah on its shoulders after he had given it the command to take him far away from that place. The second would be the one guarding both of them.
The golems began their journey to a safer spot in the swampy forest, but the rumbling began again, then it stopped.
Just like the first time the trees around them seemed to come to life and started to attack Noah’s golems.
The battle was fierce and very soon the one meant to protect them found itself being wrapped by many vines able to crush it, followed by the one carrying its master. Shockingly, the vines left him untouched.
Noah being half awake and had his entire left thigh now in a deep-purple color and filled with painful pus-filled boils; decided to unleash everything he had on the environment before he died. At least most of what he had.
Chaos fell on the environment at that point, as he cast three of his known AOE spells.
[Frozen Touch[Active]: When activated your hands gain the unique attribute “Frost”, and are capable of freezing anything they touch as long as it doesn’t have cold resistance higher than the users.
Cost: 10SE, Duration: 1 minute, Cool-down: 15 seconds]
[Lightning Storm[Active]: Generate a tier 3 storm of Lightning within the radius of your mental consciousness, that strikes your enemies down.
Costs: 400SE, Duration: 4 minutes, Cool-down: 20 minutes]
[Air Storm[Active]: Generate a turbulent windy storm within the range of your mental consciousness.
Costs: 350SE, Duration: 5 minutes, Cool-down: 20 minutes]
Placing his hands o the floor while lying down helplessly, Noah caused everything in the area of 500m to turn into ice. Nothing was excluded, not even his clothes.
A frozen spectacle unfolded in his eyes at that point, but a storm of lightning soon burst from his lying figure to expand into a radius of multiple kilometers. Destruction reigned supreme in that environment, followed by the activation of his wind storm.
The environment of more than a 3km radius saw what resembled a proper calamity befall it. Trees turned to ash many were blown away as both lightning storms and air storms tried to gain dominance.
The forest had lit up with a deep-yellow light due to the presence of Noah’s storms, but the surface of that place could not be seen because of the same reason. It looked like a glowing blanket lay in that area. A spectacular scene.
Noah managed to get a moment of peace, even if lightning bolts crashed on him, but weren’t able to hurt him. How he knew what was coming. The infection had already started spreading up his stomach pain he never even knew was possible had started to fill his mind.
His healing wasn’t fast enough to battle the infection, coupled with his missing and still bleeding leg. A situation had never been so hopeless in his life. Thankfully he knew he would be revived. It had happened before after all.
‘I should be given an award for the most deaths without fully dying,’ Noah laughed inwardly. But the truth remained that his current situation seemed unavoidable. Which was probably why he had been given a second chance. If only he had his healing at full capacity, he wouldn’t fall into such a mess.
‘So this is how he felt.’ Noah mused, recalling the guy who’s leg he had severed during a duel. ‘What was his name again. I need to apologize for the pain I put him through,’ He concluded before tensing up, after which everything went black for him.
Immediately Noah stopped breathing; his spells also vanished, revealing the massive hole they had etched into that forest. It continued to burn for hours.
