Chapter 285 285. STUNNED
‘We are equally strong. This shouldn’t be hard,’ Noah thought sweeping his gaze on the other serpents.
Something felt odd about the way they were each positioned in that expanse and he quickly focused his gaze to find out. They didn’t even move to attack him like the serpents of the first floor did. They were simply keeping their reptilian gazes on his tiny figure.
In terms of size, the serpents were around 15m in length. And their bulky, slightly curved arms raised them to a height of about 3m. This was the general size of the level 65 serpents, but the ones at the back considered the mini-boss, were larger, stretching for about 23m in length, and stood at a height of 4m.
Its reptilian head overlooked the entire expanse as it was the tallest creature within it. Noah still found it a mystery whether size also meant more power to magical beasts, but when he recalled that multiple articles disproved that, saying that it simply depended on the beast’s species.
There were many tier 4 beasts out there, shorter than even humans. And many that stood at collossal heights, but were averagely strong for their realm.
Back to the weirdness of the scene that lay before him, Noah eventually realized that the serpents stood in a formation. After reading a bit about wars and the battle tactic utilized within them, he could understand the sight that lay before him.
Notwithstanding, Noah understood not what to do with that realization. The beasts hadn’t made any move so he couldn’t totally determine what they would do with the formation.
The two sides started at each other for a long time, until Noah decided to expand his consciousness and move forward.
Capping his speed at about Mach 3 since there wasn’t any need to waste essence, Noah turned into a bright yellow streak of crackling energy before unleashing his icicle beam and the first line of the formation featuring five serpents.
His practically instantaneous spell barreled forward with a force that proved lethal on its own. Three of the serpents on the first line were caught up in the icicle beam, but to Noahs shock, his attack didn’t go past the fist line of the formation, as a flaming barrier had appeared on its path and the two forces raged to gain dominance.
The other serpents erected their personal barriers at that point, keeping them alive for the time being.
An explosion of shocking power burst out in all directions when both energies found that they couldn’t overwhelm the other.
Noah had to slam his hands on the ground immediately erecting ten walls of solid ice. The walls shattered one after the other, but when the force hit him, it didn’t even ripple his clothes.
Nevertheless, Noah felt shocked about that outcome. He felt a shiver travel down his spine when he imagined if he had faced the explosion head-on. Thankfully his body had acted on impulse led by his superior instincts.
The cloud of cold and hot particles soon cleared to reveal a sight that forced to him into uttering a few curses.
Every one of the serpents was okay apart from the three that the icicle beam had touched, they had even shattered upon the explosion, but Noah didn’t get exp for their deaths.
The large barrier that encased the other serpents in the room, was the main reason the others had survived. Although it looked barely standing as Noah knew that a single punch would shatter it; he couldn’t deny the fact that it had been able to withstand the event.
He could only trace that type of power to the level 75 serpent casually coiled at the end of the expanse.
The barrier soon crumbled, but a new one replaced it, and in that instant, Noah understood why the serpents were in a formation.
Holes opened on the barrier, even if it remained in top shape. However from the opened spaces came balls of flames, numbering more than fifty.
The attacks came from all sides of the expanse, since the beasts were that spread out. Another curse exited Noah’s mouth while he erected as many as 17 barriers in front of him, to block the offensive.
Moving father back into the room, Noah gazed at the wall of ice that spanned for half the height of the expanse and stretched across both walls.
That defensive had cost him 2000SE, and it proved worth it since nothing reached him.
‘They plan to wear me out while I’m unable to properly get rid of them,’ Noah thought tapping his right foot to allow a magical circle expand beneath his feet before casting the said skill an extra twelve times.
His frozen golems emerged from the twelve magical circles, and he soon featured a number of golems numbering twenty-four.
‘I’ll have to keep them distracted, while I find a way to shatter the barrier and wipe the minions out before going for the boss,’ Noah thought sweeping his gaze on his prepared army. Each of the golems were capable of tier 3 power past the bottom of the lower stage, since he too had went past the bottom of the lower stage.
He hoped they would last longer this time around, but with the offensive of his opponents he couldn’t help but doubt. All the attacks of the serpents were powered with the speed essence, even if only by a little. He couldn’t imagine them having the prowess he had.
‘That would be difficult,’ Noah eventually evaluated. ‘I’ll have to keep a series of distractions constantly ready. Or I’ll be forced to fall back like I did,’ he sighed wishing he had his toys back
Explosions never stopped ringing out as the beasts continued to rain spells on the walls erected by their target.
‘Do they never run out of fuel,’ Noah wondered seeing as his walls only remained four. However he wasn’t going to wait till they crashed all his defenses before he would move.
Closing his eyes to gain full concentration. Noah caught hold of the ice that the large walls were made of, and pored essence into turning them into and offensive.
The outermost wall exploded into a dense shower of icy particles, creating a thick mist before the serpents, that successfully blocked their view of the events happening past it.
Before any attacks could disperse the mist, Noah opened his eyes and unleashed the attack he had prepared. All three of the remaining walls crumbled to take the form of large spears numbering a stunning number of around 300.
For the first time since he became a tier 3, Noah understood what holding too much with his mind felt like. A headache struck him as he tried to keep all spears in his control. Needless to say, he unleashed them before they could cause damage to his soul core.
The sounds of roaring objects crossed the relatively short distance before him and the barrier. An explosion Noah had anticipated, but remained stunned by its power shook the entire expanse as massive thick clouds of pure coldness burst out in all directions, filling the entirety of the expanse. More than half his prepared golems shattered as a result of the explosion.
Shockingly, from within the mist, and into the layers of crackling protection Noah erected around his figure came waves of deep-yellow particles that gushed into his body.
Twenty-two messages informing him of gained exp popped up madly in front of his eyes, but only the last four felt important to him.
