Chapter 148 148. FREAK
Noah felt his right leg shatter from that impact. But it got rebuilt an instant later, allowing him to jump backwards.
Noah smiled when he noticed his foots mark on the panthers paw. He had managed to dig a bit into its Incredibly tough skin, which showed how powerful that kick was.
The panther seemed to calm down a bit as it studied it paw and its opponent. A hint of intelligence seemed to appear in its dark eyes, but it soon vanished when her eyes fell on Noah’s proud smirk.
‘I wonder how much essence my body can handle,’ Noah thought, pouring more essence into empowering his body.
He hand given up on casting air affinity based spells since they probably won’t hinder its movement.
The panther arrived in front of Noah’s palpating body and he didn’t hesitate to jump and send a powerful kick from under its opened jaws.
His kick instantly shut the beasts large mouth, which he was certain could fit his entire body in one gulp, and still have room for other large objects.
In quick succession to his kick, Noah landed on the beasts face. Grabbing its big nose, Noah pulled it downwards with all the power his arms could afford.
The panther found its face slamming the hard ground an instant later, as anger rose in its beastly mind.
Black gas seeped out of its skin, and Noah quickly let her go. He suddenly found himself heeding to Jon’s advice, to watch his opponents movement’s and base his next action on theirs.
He didn’t have time to think much about the matter, since five large bullets made from its darkness element, shot toward, curving mid-air to circle him.
Noah smiled at the attack which he had already judged to be futile. He quickly glanced at Jon. Seeing that the expert remained completely focused on whatever he was doing, and didn’t have his consciousness unfolded, he moved.
Time seemingly stopped moving, as Noah ran towards the beasts’ large figure. He circled it and arrived at its back side.
His hands grabbed stone-like tail and he immediately spun his body, letting her go mid-spin, causing her to fly off.
The panther struck the ceiling with a powerful bang, but managed to land on its paws.
Jon looked up at this point, and he felt shocked to see that his pet stood still, her eyes fully focused on Noah’s also still figure. The duo seemed to be having a stare off.
But Mana roiled out of her body a few moments later, and he almost choked on his saliva when he realized that she was about to unleash one of her strongest ability.
“Move!!,” Jon screamed dashing towards the panther. He wasn’t completely done with the countermeasure, but he figured he would unleash it in hopes that it would be enough.
Noah felt his instincts scream at the beasts still sight. The room instantly went black as whatever it wanted to do was powerful enough to darken the whole place.
The pitch of his screaming Instincts reached a level that he felt his body go numb. He froze.
Muillix jumped out of Noah’s body and he cast his armour skill. The ability the panther was about to unleash was definitely and area of effect ability.
He considered escaping through the exit, but he realized that the panther had her back facing it.
Noah suddenly felt his anger rise at that situation, but he quickly calmed himself. ‘Most of my battles end like this,’ Noah sighed ‘Not this time,’ he concluded.
Taking a step forward even though his body begged him to escape. Noah shot forward without the speed essence empowerment.
The darkness in the room felt tangible, and it actually applied resistance to Noah’s rapid movement, but that wasn’t enough to deter him.
He couldn’t see anything but he could sense the panthers presence. He felt his figure arrive In front of her, and an idea suddenly flickered into his mind.
Noah felt the environment tremble, then the darkness suddenly gathered into a dense rotating ball, but Noah was nowhere to be seen. Most of the light radiating inscriptions had been snuffed, making for a barely lit room.
Jon released his countermeasure at that point, and a flurry of illusory chains wrapped around the panthers body.
The chains seeped into her body, and her entire body shook violently, causing her attack to disperse.
Noah who was actually beneath her belly found it the right time to strike.
Gathering as much speed essence as he could within his left arm, Noah felt its strength rise beyond his current level.
He only stopped when he felt a painful strain in that limb. Something that had never happened before.
Pulling his seemingly heavy arm downwards, Noah threw a punch at the beasts belly, releasing all the energy in his arm.
An incredible explosion resounded, almost crushing Noah in the process, as his internal organs shook from the wave of power that bounced back at him.
His punch managed to lift the beasts body for a few feet before running out of power.
The panther dropped with a heavy thud, and didn’t make any further movements.
Red blood poured out of the beasts nostrils, ears and mouth, Noah fearing that he had actually killed the beast.
But after a few seconds and no core shot out of its body he relaxed.
Jon ran towards the panther and proceeded to unleash more of his countermeasures on her. .𝗻𝐞𝘁
As soon as he finished the process he shot an astonished gaze at a sitting Noah.
“You actually brought her down. A middle stage tier 3,” Jon’s mouth shook as he uttered those words, something he never thought he would say in his entire life to someone weaker than him.
He hadn’t seen Noah’s attack since he remained busy producing the countermeasure, and the dim lights. But he had managed to sense something he had never felt in his life. But its trace vanished the moment he perceived it.
Noah scratched his head at that statement. He beat her but he didn’t or rather couldn’t kill her.
‘So this is the best rank 1 purity can achieve at my current level,’ Noah thought glancing at his fist.
[SE: 2090/22500]
‘I need to advance to the next purity rank quickly,’ he stood up, ‘But I might risk my life once again,’ he bottled up the raging excitement trying to find its way out.
‘That would be after I’m done here,’ he concluded.
“Are you okay?,” Jon asked after his astonishment had subsided by a significant amount.
“Yes,” Noah promptly replied.
“Will she be okay,” He enquired glancing at the still unmoving beast.
“Yes. Give her a few hours and she’ll be up. But you really knocked her out bad,” Jon smiled.
“Not without your help,” Noah shook his head. “I understand why you didn’t mention her,” Noah’s suddenly changed the subject, his gaze still on the black beast.
“She’s a darkness affinity beast, and can also be unstable, for now at least. An attack from her would wipe out the entire village,” Jon explained, “The fight would have been tougher if she had been at peak power,” Jon said.
“She wasn’t at her peak,” Noah exclamained sensing the pride his achievement brought, plummet.
“She wasn’t,” Jon stated.
“We carried out a procedure which brought our bond to 50% just a few days ago, and It weakened her by a significant margin. Which was why I had the guts to ask for your help. You a beginner tier 3 cultivator,” Jon explained with a straight face, ‘Though can I even classify you as such,’ he said Inwardly.
Noah felt his pride shatter at those words, he suddenly felt utterly weak. His chances of standing a beast at that level quickly revealed to lower than he thought.
“Nevertheless you are a freak,” Jon laughed In pure amazement. “Hope remains for the cultivation journey if a monster like you ascends to real power, not what the nobles have turned it into.”
