Chapter 142 142. ACTING
Studying the object floating before him, Noah ignored the large amounts of speed essence moving around him in that white environment, and continued to focus on the bottle.
The bottle which seemed to be made of speed essence, contained a dense yellow liquid shimmering with multiple coloured lights that Noah didn’t understand.
The liquid within the bottle emanated an aura that Noah’s Instincts liked, it seemed as though his body already understood what that bottle of liquid would do to it, and it desired it.
‘What exactly have I become,’ Noah couldn’t help but wonder at that strange feeling.
‘No physical changes have happened after my evolution, so to speak, but my senses have definitely changed,’ he thought.
‘Can Speedlings do something that humans can’t, apart from their connection with the speed force?’ Noah asked the system, and a panel he knew too well answered his question.
[You do not have access to that information]
‘I never do. How am I supposed to utilize my new self to its fullest, if I don’t even know what my body can do,’ Noah sneered at the system and its creator.
[[Kill many beasts, level up and become a tier 4]] The system replied.
Noah couldn’t help but feel a little emotion from that obvious answer.
‘Are you even capable of emotions,’ Noah wondered.
[You do not have access to that information]
‘I wasn’t even asking you…..,’ Noah’s thoughts faded out, ‘Okay maybe I was. But you don’t have to flash those words all the time you know. You can just stay silent,’ Noah snorted, and the system didn’t reply.
Shaking his annoyance off, Noah focused his attention on the bottle. He had been studying it for a few minutes now, and his instincts didn’t find it harmful, not that he doubted the system or anything.
Uncorking the bottle, Noah poured its contents into his mouth, and a bitter-sweet taste spread In his mouth, followed by a hot sensation, which quickly disappeared.
The potion reached his stomach, but that organ didn’t hinder its passage to land on his black core.
His whole body seemed to pulse from that connection, as his core absorbed the liquid on its surface, and a reaction quickly followed that event.
Noah watched with a satisfied feeling, the essence in his core bubble up until it reached an almost filled-up state, before stopping.
Immediately Noah finished with the bottle it suddenly dispersed and floated towards the essence in the room.
[You have taken your first SE potion]
[Rank: 1]
[Quality of potion: 50%]
[Note: Excessive use of this low quality potion may lead to reduce in SE reserve or damaging of SE core]
Noah read the contents of the carefully making sure to take in the system’s warning.
‘How much counts as excessive,’ Noah wondered, “Five? Ten? Thirty?,’ He gave up, ‘I guess I’ll know when that time comes.’
Glancing at his surroundings, Noah wondered what to do next, and after a few seconds his figure vanished from the cultivation room. 𝑜𝑣𝘭.𝘯𝑡
Appearing inside the room, Noah immediately heard a knock on his door, and his consciousness didn’t hesitate to seep past the door to inspect the person behind it.
Realizing that it was the two trainees of the village head, who had in their hands one tray each, Noah calmed down a bit.
The duo didn’t seem to notice his consciousness on them, which was probably because of their difference in power level.
Unlocking the door to let them in, Noah left his consciousness unfolded. He didn’t trust the duo one bit, and even though they were weaker than he was, he wasn’t going to make the silly mistake of underestimating them, since those who had done that to him so far, eventually ended up dead.
“We were ordered by the village-head to get you something to eat,” Delius said placing his tray on the table, so did Enik.
“And the villagers offered to give you more as an appreciation for defending our village,” Enik gestured at the other tray.
Noah felt like there was a hidden meaning to those words, so he chose his words wisely, since one of the duo could be the traitor
“Like I said I was simply helping,” Noah shook his head with a smile.
“But they- No, we all appreciate it,” Delius bowed.
“Now that I think of it why didn’t the village head assist you, he’s far stronger than the beast,” Noah spoke carefully, making sure to use Jon’s title rather than his name, to make his request sound formal.
Delius glanced at Enik, a silent communication going on between them.
“We honestly thought he would have mentioned that to you,” Delius scratched his head.
“Why would you think that?,” Noah raised an eyebrow.
“Oh nothing. Just our guess,” Delius replied, “Well since it isn’t actually a secret so…Well, the reason he doesn’t leave the villages border is because there are protections that only he can activate, which shields outside eyes from the work going on in our farm,” Delius explained.
“So basically he’s tied to the village,” Noah narrowed his eyes.
“Not necessarily. It’s just a duty he imposed upon himself, as the village head that is,” Enik butt in.
“Oh I see…..,” Noah muttered.
“Though there is something else in that building, but it’s only a mild suspicion. He’s very secretive about it,” Delius shrugged, “But he’s our master, we respect his privacy,” Delius added.
A tinge of surprise filled Noah’s mind at those words, but it quickly vanished. He had only been in the village for less than an hour, and Jon definitely couldn’t tell him everything.
“Thank you for your time, and the food,” Noah bowed.
“No worries sir Will,” Delius also bowed.
“How long will you be staying senior Will,” Enik asked before leaving.
Noah didnt know what to really reply so he gave a vague answer, “Very soon,” He smiled.
“I really wished you could stay a week but things do not favour such plans,” Delius sighed shooting a complicated gaze at Noah.
“I don’t understand,” Noah immediately played dumb.
Slightly but surely, Noah saw Delius’s expression flicker for a bit before his mouth opened to release words.
“Do not worry senior, it’s nothing a guest like you should concern themselves about,” his voice rang out.
“Are you sure, if there’s anyway I can help feel free to ask,” Noah put on his most convincing expression, and it worked.
“No do not worry. Have a good day senior,” Delius quickly replied, he and Enik exiting the room after those words.
Shutting the door behind the duo, a wide grin appeared on Noah’s face, ‘I should receive an award for my acting skills,’ he giggled.
Shooting a hungry gaze at the tray of food, Noah proceeded to eat and drink the meal he had been served.
He didn’t totally understand why, but only after eating, did he realize how hungry he actually was, causing him to eat part of the edible supplies he had in his inventory.
A few tens of minutes passed, and seeing that no one came knocking he decided to go cultivate, but he would try his best to make sure he returned before sunrise.
