Chapter 527 - 232: Wanna Show Off? I’ll Smash Your Ass
Chapter 527: Chapter 232: Wanna Show Off? I’ll Smash Your Ass
Darkness roiled, boundless and unending.
Like the crashing of a black sea.
Deep, immense rumbles echoed between heaven and earth, the concussive force astonishingly powerful.
Chen Xuan, Chu Shanhe, and Feng Wuji moved with extreme speed, flashing through the darkness as they rushed toward the source of the sound.
The closer they got, the more they could sense an immeasurably vast aura.
"Could a forbidden land have been dragged out of the darkness?"
Chu Shanhe’s expression shifted.
"I think you’re right. There’s a mountain up ahead. Let’s go take a look from there!"
Feng Wuji said.
They quickly rushed over, landing on a black mountain peak.
From their vantage point, they focused their vision and peered into the distance.
Chen Xuan, in particular, activated his Sun God’s Eye, piercing through thousands of miles of darkness.
It was like two beams of golden sunlight.
Soon, his expression turned to one of shocked disbelief.
In the distance, the darkness was thick and rumbling, rising in massive tides. Within those heavy tides, an enormous shadow bobbed up and down, as if it had been scraped out from a spatial fissure.
"There’s something! It’s a city!"
Chen Xuan said.
"A city... dragged out from the depths of the darkness?"
Feng Wuji’s expression changed slightly.
This was too bizarre.
Nothing like a city had ever been dragged out before!
"Wait, I think there are living creatures, too!"
Chen Xuan’s gaze sharpened.
Flickering figures could be seen in front of the massive city.
They were creatures from the deep darkness!
They were all rushing into the city.
Even as the tides of darkness tossed their bodies about, leaving them swaying and on the verge of collapse, they still struggled to enter the city.
"Should we get a closer look?"
Chu Shanhe asked.
"Alright, let’s go."
Chen Xuan murmured.
’Anything that can stir up those creatures from the deep darkness must mean there’s something extraordinary inside the city.’
’To be honest, Chen Xuan was exceptionally curious about the deep darkness.’
’He wanted to explore it more than anyone.’
The three set off once more, transforming into streaks of light as they approached.
Some time passed.
They felt the darkness ahead grow even thicker.
Not even Chen Xuan’s Unity of Heaven and Man could make the darkness recede.
The dense darkness was like layers of tangible cotton blocking their path. They could only carve a tunnel through it by relying on sheer force. If not for their profound Power, the three of them would have succumbed long ago.
With great difficulty, they finally penetrated the oppressive darkness and reached the forefront.
Before them was indeed a massive, imposing black city. Its full expanse was impossible to gauge; it was simply boundless, wreathed in a black miasma.
Waves of dark tides churned and surged, distorting the very space around the city.
When the tides crashed against the city walls, they let out a series of deafening roars.
The sound was immense.
The city was also surrounded by numerous spatial fissures.
Black mist seeped endlessly from these fissures, shrouding the city in an even deeper gloom and mystery.
The city gates stood open. Inside, it was pitch-black, and almost nothing was visible.
"Unbelievable!"
Chu Shanhe’s expression was grave as he strained to see inside the city gate.
’It felt as if his gaze was plunging into a bottomless abyss.’
The three of them studied the scene for a moment.
Finally, Chen Xuan murmured again, "How about... we go in and take a look?"
’We’ve come all this way. It doesn’t seem right to just stand outside the gate.’
Chu Shanhe and Feng Wuji hesitated for a moment.
But in the end, they slowly nodded.
"Alright. Let’s go take a look."
Feng Wuji murmured.
’With the combined strength of the three of them, plus the aid of the Ten Thousand Souls Banner and the White Slaughter Sword, they should be able to handle any danger, no matter how great.’
’If even they couldn’t handle it, then the danger would have to be truly heaven-defying.’
Steeling their nerves, the three walked toward the pitch-black city gate. It felt like stepping through a dark, watery curtain. SWISH! They passed through.
Puzzled, the three of them immediately turned to look back.
"There’s a restrictive barrier on the gate. No wonder we couldn’t see what was inside."
Chu Shanhe murmured.
By then, Chen Xuan was already surveying the city’s interior.
The city’s interior was even darker, the environment bleak. Occasionally, patches of eerie green will-o’-the-wisps would flare to life, their ghastly, sinister light illuminating the alleys and streets below.
The street before them stretched endlessly into the distance.
The street was thick with dust, clearly unswept for a very long time.
The vast city was like a city of the dead; no trace of life could be felt.
Many of the buildings on either side had fallen into ruin.
The more Chen Xuan observed, the more puzzled he became.
"Be careful, everyone. I saw many creatures enter just now. This place is far from normal!"
Chen Xuan sent a voice transmission.
Chu Shanhe and Feng Wuji both gave a slight nod.
The trio began to walk, exploring their surroundings with caution.
But just as they were walking...
Suddenly, a sinister wind swept past. From a side alley, a large number of skulls came rolling out—CLATTER CLATTER CLATTER. Green will-o’-the-wisps burned within their eye sockets, giving them a ferocious and demonic appearance.
Chen Xuan waved his hand casually, and Five Thunders lightning instantly swept over.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG...
All the skulls that had rolled over were blasted to smithereens, and the sinister, cold aura was dispersed.
A moment later, Chen Xuan’s eyes narrowed, and he suddenly whipped his head around.
In a side alley, he saw a large patch of shadow rushing toward them. Its aura was obscure, blending into the darkness and making it almost imperceptible.
"Who’s there?"
Chu Shanhe and Feng Wuji immediately looked over as well, calling out in low voices.
The patch of shadow stopped abruptly, showing signs of shocked disbelief. A pair of dark red eyes gazed back at Chen Xuan, Chu Shanhe, and Feng Wuji.
"You... you’re from the shallow darkness?"
The shadow instantly sensed the auras on the three of them.
As it looked at the three of them, Chen Xuan was also carefully studying its form.
