Undying Warlord

588 Fight or Flee?

Almost 24 hours had passed since Dilan woke up in the palace of the flying island.

By now, everyone whom Dilan wanted to tell about the things that happened during his Divine difficulty advancement mission knew about it.

There weren’t many people he trusted enough, to begin with, but the small bunch was more than enough…and all of them sat around him at a large table.

“Are you…serious right now? You didn’t just blabber nonsense that time??” Siegfried blurted out loud, just to receive a bunch of deadly glares and a feisty slap against the back of his head.

Siegfried groaned out but he quieted down when he saw that it was not his master who attacked him but his mother.

“Respect your Uncle, or I will throw you in the Hellhound Gate!” She threatened, giving Siegfried more than enough reason to shut his mouth.

Dilan looked at the mother-son duo with interest for a second before he turned his interest back to everyone else.

“So, you trained for 10,000 years under the guidance of the strongest and smartest True Gods, who were willing to deposit a shard of their Soul in the City of Trials, where time runs 365 times slower than everywhere else… to prepare for some prophecy that says…the entire Universe will get devoured…” Sven summarized Dilan’s story, and Dilan nodded his head.

“But I don’t know what exactly will devour the Universe, or if and when it will happen. The Oracle said that the Veils are already showing signs of erupting, which means that I will have to advance as quickly as possible.

As for whether the Veilures will devour the Universe, or if Hoert will come and gobble it down like a snack, I have no idea,”

Dilan had a lot more to say but he didn’t really feel like thinking about Hoert. He tried to downtalk the threat of Hoert but that didn’t really work great.

He was looked at with expressions that made him feel like he was asking for a beating…and maybe that was the case.

“Well, it’s nice to know that you’ve already prepared yourself. But I guess, you won’t be able to fight against swarms of Veilures all by yourself. Furthermore, you talk about Veils, which means plural. You won’t be able to split your body…soo, when are you going to teach us about Divinities and all that stuff?” Yvonne asked in a quite simple manner.

However, it was no sooner that she received everyone’s attention and baffled expressions.

“What? You guys think that I want to shed my blood in Milarn, just to see that the entire Universe, which includes the lovely tiny planet we live on, gets devoured by some ugly things from another Universe? No thanks!” She announced before she pointed at Dilan, “He is a walking Wikipedia, just that his sources are likely to be more truthful, so we might as well use him to become proper True Gods as quickly as possible, and with the strongest possible Divinity!

That way we can protect ourselves, give Dilan a helping hand, and make sure that we can either train others or think of a different way to gather people to beat the shit out of the Veilures!”

Everyone’s expression changed drastically the longer they looked at Yvonne. They didn’t know when the little emotionless woman had gotten the fiery flames of unbreakable determination, but it looked like they burned fiercely in her eyes.

She was not ready to give up just because another…a much bigger threat had appeared all of a sudden! Yvonne was ready to keep going, give her utmost and never surrender.

That was something even Dilan considered amazing, after all, Yvonne could be said to have a much bigger disadvantage than Dilan, and the Eternal Darkness.

There were also other Fate Changers but Dilan was not really sure if he would encounter them, or when he would encounter them.

“And what if everything will be for naught? What if we try our utmost, conquer Milarn, and regain control of it in the next few, dozen, or hundreds of years…just for everything to end up devoured nonetheless? Can we even be sure that we will be able to survive if this prophecy says that only Dilan and some other Fate Changer will survive when the Universe is getting devoured…no matter when that will be…” Williams asked. He had gotten back to his senses after listening to Dilan’s words in the cafeteria.

In the end, Williams ended up extremely embarrassed because he had thought about blaming Dilan for taking too long during his advancement mission because the truth was far more complex…and devastating than he could have expected.

Fortunately, he had finally gotten the gist of the truth. He was thankful for everything Dilan had done and everything he was trying to do, but things were far more pessimistic than Yvonne wanted to acknowledge.

“What else do you want to do? Leisure around, become the Sun God’s slave, and die fighting some other Gods in the name of the Sun God? Even if you survive, we will stay his slaves and get devoured just like anyone else…if we do nothing against the Veils, Veilures, or whatever desires to devour our Universe!” Yvonne jumped up from her chair when she got agitated.

Her sudden anger astonished everyone, especially since everyone in the room knew how calm and composed Yvonne was under normal circumstances.

‘She really wants to make sure that everyone will get stronger and survive.’ Dilan thought, thinking that his guess was pretty close to the truth.

However, he couldn’t be sure of Yvonne’s train of thought.

Either way, Dilan was on her side, but that was only obvious. It was better to give their utmost and live a great life with the result, no matter how it would end rather than giving up on a possibility.

After all, it was not even certain that the Universe would actually be devoured, let alone the exact time, or who would devour it at the end of the day.

All of that was still unknown!

And with that in mind, Dilan chooses to interrupt the erupting discussion by adding some pointers to the conversation.

“How about we outwit the prophecy?”
