519 Rex
“What the hell…Rex, what are you doing here?” Dilan exclaimed as he looked at the bulky man, who smashed his fists deep into the head of a Black Bull.
The Black Bull’s skull cracked and a terrified bleak escaped its mouth just a moment before it turned into countless particles that dispersed on the Ancient Battlefield.
“Who calls for me?” The bulky man with short brown hair and green eyes turned in all directions before his eyes fell on a young man standing on top of a small elevation.
They were roughly the same age, yet, Rex looked as if he had long since exceeded the age of 30.
“I am calling for you, you old muscle-head!” Dilan shouted out loud, with an exhilarated expression on his face.
“I’m only 22 years old, you jackass!!” Rex shouted back, still not recognizing Dilan. He readied his fists and went into a combat stance to fight his new opponent.
His expression which was full of seriousness changed only slightly when Dilan returned the meteorite blade to his storage ring.
“It has been some time since I fought you, you old man!” Dilan responded before he burst forth with all his might.
He used his whole physical strength to shoot forward and it took Dilan only a moment to reach Rex’s huge body. Twisting his body, he punched straight ahead using all his might.
Yet, rather than blocking Dilan’s attack, Rex accepted it seemingly without hesitation as he himself prepared an attack.
His fist shot down towards Dilan’s head and it would have split him if Dilan wouldn’t move back at the last moment. But even if he had to evade Rex’s attack, his attack had been a success nonetheless.
‘No damage at all…not even the impact?’ Dilan realized that Rex was completely fine after his attack had impacted on his abdomen. That was unusual, but it was far from impossible and quite easy to explain, ‘Is that one of his abilities?’
Dilan’s conclusion made sense but it brought forth more difficulties all of a sudden.
‘Is it Impact Absorption, or Impact Nullification… or something entirely different?’ He wondered and his mind was rattling because of the assumptions he made to find out an answer.
But even while he was thinking hard, Dilan never stopped moving. He activated [Walk of Thunder] to appear behind Rex, and inflict several punches on his back before he reappeared in front of his old friend, whom he punched ten more times.
Rex showed slight signs of discomfort after the last punches impacted on his chest, but Dilan was not yet done. He summoned an Intermediate Water and Earth Spirit to turn the surrounding environment into his playground.
Rex was trying to move around, and gain an upper hand by slowly figuring out Dilan’s combat style. Yet, instead of using any abilities to make up for his slower speed, Rex decided to keep mum for a bit.
He endured the hits that impacted on him, even if they started to pain after some time.
Dilan noticed that something was off and he used both the Water and Earth Spirits to split open the first few layers of soil around Rex, pull him inside the ground, and seal his lower body in it.
At least, that was what Dilan was trying to do, instead of accidentally killing his friend by wielding the Meteorite blade in addition to using his Power of Destruction and more.
Rex had still no idea that his friend was beating the shit out of him, but he wouldn’t care about that even if he did know. In fact, Rex would probably be even more agitated than he was right now!
‘How the hell is he so powerful? Since when can an Ascender attain such high physical strength? Wasn’t I the strongest in terms of physical power??’
One question after question formed in Rex’s mind, and intrusive thoughts bombard him the longer he had to endure Dilan’s attacks.
However, all of this was something he could barely endure because of the ability set he possessed.
[[Hoarding] has been filled. The Host can unleash the hoarded power whenever he desires!]
Rex had just been waiting for this moment. The corners of his lips tilted upward and he unleashed every bit of the hoarded power into his next punch.
He waited for the perfect moment to strike a punch when suddenly Dilan delivered another barrage of punches to execute his own sure-kill punch! Rex howled in pain and anger as he executed a rapid sucker punch that would have almost hurled Dilan into the air the moment Rex’s attack impacted.
‘So that was it?’ Dilan could only think while his breath was taken away. He could clearly feel the destructive force of the punch that destroyed his internal organs in an instant, and it was just a moment later that something even more terrifying followed suit.
“Double Impact! Second Impact!” Rex shouted at the top of his lungs, releasing double the impact he had already caused in the form of a second impact.
Dilan’s stomach burst open and Rex’s large fist dug deep inside Dilan’s body, penetrating it completely.
A bright smile formed on Rex’s face when he retracted his bloodied fist. One could see through the fist-sized hole in his body where blood and intestines gushed out.
“Not bad, not bad at all…but who the hell do you think you are to shout the names of your abilities so loudly?! The Main Character of a Shounen Manga or what??” Dilan asked all of a sudden. An evil smile formed on his face as his left arm reached out for Rex’s shoulder.
“Should I break your shoulder for trying to kill your own friend?” He added a serious question this time before he started to squeeze his friend’s shoulder.
At the same time, Dilan activated [Undying] to heal from the severe injury his friend had caused.
“Friend? What the hell are you talking about?? I don’t know a monster like you!!” Rex began to shout and both of his hands reached out for Dilan’s arm that locked him in place. He tried to shake off Dilan’s hand but Dilan maintained an iron grip on him.
Out of nowhere, Rex was pulled closer, just for Dilan to smash his head against his friend’s.
“Underground Fights, muscle-head!” Dilan thundered before pushing Rex away, just to pull him closer once again. He gave his friend a bunch of headbutts without showing any mercy. This was his way of taking revenge for the hole in his stomach.
It might be healing already, but that shit fucking hurt!
Nobody would like to have a hole in their stomach, not even Dilan whose tolerance to pain was already quite high.
“Now do you remember me, you fucking old muscle-head?” Dilan snarled as Rex started to bleed out of his head.
However, Rex’s condition was far worse. His head seemed to be on the verge of exploding, and it was pretty obvious that he would only need one or two more headbutts before he would die and be expelled from the Battlefields for the rest of the month.
Dilan couldn’t allow this, so he ended up halting his punishment.
“I ask again…do you remember me??” He asked with an excited expression on his face.
“Urgh…O-Of course I know, you fucking bastard!!”
