497 Playing the Bad Boy
‘Are they already done?’ Dilan began to wonder as he looked around.
For a second or two, nobody attacked Dilan. Some Ascenders rubbed their eyes to make sure that their eyes were not playing tricks on them, but that was not the case.
Dilan was perfectly fine and he continued to approach the military base from the cloud of smoke and the rain of rubble all around him.
The attacks on Dilan commenced again, but that was not something he had to be worried about.
“This is quite fun,” Dilan said all of a sudden as he saw that more than a hundred Missiles and Bullets were fired at him at the same time.
He exerted Green Magic and used both Intermediate Wind Spirits to further accelerate his speed as he began to slash around.
Dilan’s movements were rapid and fierce.
He made hundreds of cuts within a second, and every slash destroyed a projectile neatly.
Countless explosions occurred at the same time as all projectiles were destroyed in the same timeframe, filling the surrounding area with the unleashed elemental powers.
The area around Dilan was filled with all kinds of colors emerging from the elemental powers that swept through his surroundings.
He ignored them and focused fully on the military base ahead.
Not a single droplet of sweat trickled down his temples but he could tell that his stamina would go for a toss if the guards of the military base would continue to attack him with Elemental Bullets and Magic Missiles.
It would take a while for him to reach the gates of the military base because he didn’t accelerate his steps in the slightest, which was also why Dilan chose to take it as a warm-up and training exercise of deflecting millions of projectiles if necessary.
He was more than willing to do so because it seemed interesting!
However, what Dilan didn’t know was the attacks had barely begun and more, different types were ready to hit him.
Several huge magic circles appeared on the ground before the military base, and a bunch of 30-meter-tall Earth Golems emerged from them.
The Earth Golems had been formed out of the earth below them after it had been reinforced and compressed.
Nonetheless, the strongest combat prowess they could reach was the third Tier!
“They have so many trump cards… I should really get my hands on more trumps for the Undying Group, otherwise, people will laugh at us for the ridiculous weak defense we have,” Dilan thought out loud with a wry smile on his face.
His mind was going wild as he kept thinking of more ways to protect his bases, or possibly the entire continent of Camsun using means like the Mekaz family’s military base was employing.
The rifles and large-scale weapons they used didn’t require that much mana. In fact, they could be empowered with the use of Essence crystals, and the same could be said about the creation of the Golems.
The Golems were created from the materials around them and their strength was not to be taken lightly.
Given the current period of the Primordial Ascension, Tier 3 existences were still somewhat rare. Dilan encountered many Tier 3 Monsters, other races, and humans, but that was mostly because he actively searched for them.
On his way to the Mekaz Military base, Dilan and Rory had seen billions of Tierless and Tier 1 monsters. There were countless weak beings, but it was just that Dilan couldn’t be bothered about them!
‘Maybe I should create a research department that would dedicate their full attention and time to Magic devices meant for protection…that should be worth it!’ Dilan nodded his head in satisfaction when he thought about the research department.
The Undying Group already had many departments for research but there were simply too many things to research and get to know that it would become extremely confusing and unorganized without specified departments.
He smiled and approached the bunch of Golems with curiosity in his heart.
‘So, how am I going to defeat you guys?’ Dilan wondered and his smile widened. He could tell that there had to be a certain core or some sort of artifact that held the Earth Golems together.
If he were to compare Golems to other inanimate objects, Zombies would probably be the closest. To defeat a zombie, one had to destroy their brain, otherwise, they would never actually die.
‘Where is your core?’ Dilan mumbled in his mind, excitement filling his heart.
His steps accelerated a little and he didn’t even realize when he had activated both [Walk of Thunder] and [Second Acceleration].
Lightning currents flickered around his feet and tremendous pressure burst through the surroundings when Dilan retracted the mana he had released to scan his surroundings.
He didn’t want to play around anymore because the situation was changing to his favor. There was no need to torture the Ascender Guards for the next few minutes by slowly approaching them.
Dilan was ready to scare them a little bit more. Thus he replaced the Intermediate Wind Spirits with an Intermediate Water Spirit and an Intermediate Lightning Spirit before he dashed forward.
There was no need to care about the traps around him as they were rendered useless against him. Dilan leaned forward, he merged the Water Spirit with the Blessed Blade while the Lightning Spirit fused with the Cursed Dagger.
As he circulated mana through his body, Dilan’s physical strength increased further, and he emerged in front of the closest Earth Golem and slashed at both of its legs.
The Cursed Dagger cut deep inside the Earth Golem’s right leg, which was several meters wide. He cut through a big chunk of its leg but the Earth Golem just began to heal using the soil below its feet.
Dilan noticed that the soil below them was rapidly decreasing the more often he cut through the leg of the Earth Golem and it made the situation quite clear.
He was not bothered by the outcome because he had expected it. His weapons were merely daggers, not huge broadswords, weapons that may be large and destructive enough to actually cut off the Golems’ whole legs.
That was not required, in the first place, and it was definitely not something Dilan had planned to do, to begin with.
Dilan was merely testing the waters.
Now that the testing was over, he used the Power of Destruction and Green Magic to cause actual harm to the Earth Golem.
He created powerful Elemental Destruction Slashes which he released as if his body was a machine gun.
Tens of Elemental Destruction Slashes were fired in a single second and the Earth Golem lost its arms, legs, its head, and its body was further chopped into smaller pieces like minced meat.
Dilan looked at this with excitement gleaming in his eyes.
“That’s to my liking!” He exclaimed upon spotting a large blue core that was shining brightly. Dilan shot forward and pierced it with the Blessed Blade.
He twisted the dagger inside the core and broke it. The earth all around the core stopped moving, crumbled, and returned to where it belonged.
Dilan nodded his head as if he had just comprehended something crucial. This sight caused many Ascenders on the walls of the military base to frown deeply.
However, they were unable to voice out their complaints because their body didn’t heed their mind’s commands anymore.
The Ascenders witnessed the terrific speed and power of the Infiltrator and they realized deep down that all of them would die as long as that one human being desired their death!
