Chapter 499 - 498: What’s the Difference?

Ye Feng suddenly vanished. The next moment, he appeared before Rhea like a phantom. Rhea sensed something was wrong and tried to dodge, but it was too late. Ye Feng's hand shot out like a bolt of lightning and yanked off her veil.

And so, the crowd behind them saw a bizarre face.

The left half of her face was as smooth and flawless as jade, but the right half was covered by a massive, dark birthmark. It spread across her skin, occupying almost the entire right side. The two halves formed a stark contrast, looking strange and even somewhat terrifying.

Behind them, Feng Qingwu and the others all gasped, covering their mouths.

They never imagined this elf of the Beast Race would look like this.

They had assumed she veiled her face to hide a stunning beauty, but now they understood: Rhea was completely hiding her ugliness!

Rhea stared blankly at Ye Feng. It took a long moment for her to react. She let out a shriek, raised her hands to cover her face, and glared at Ye Feng, her eyes filled with hatred.

Just then, a beastman behind her roared in fury at Ye Feng. "How dare you be so disrespectful to our elf! I'll kill you!"

But Rhea stopped the beastman. She looked at Ye Feng and said coldly, "He removed my veil, so I will not kill him. I, Rhea, am not one to go back on my word."

With a final, venomous glare at Ye Feng, she turned and walked away.

Ye Feng quickly snapped out of it and shouted at Rhea's retreating back, "Rhea, I know what you wanted those three herbs for! Combined, they can indeed remove a dark birthmark, but they will leave an even uglier scar."

"But don't worry. Ling'Er won't use up all of these three herbs. I'll add some other herbs and make an ointment for you. Leave the matter of removing the birthmark to me. I guarantee I'll give you back a face that's just as smooth and flawless as your left."

Rhea, who had already walked some distance, abruptly stopped. She spun around and said to Ye Feng in a cold voice:

"Make both sides of my face the same? Heh, you've got a big mouth. We've sought out countless Divine Doctors, and the best any of them could do was say they could remove the birthmark but would leave a faint scar. How dare you make such a boast? Do you really think I'm a fool?"

The next moment, she chuckled. "Ye Feng, how about we make another bet? If you can truly restore my face, then I'll marry you."

He looked at Rhea and asked, "And what if I can't restore your face?"

Rhea chuckled again. "Then I'll still marry you. I swore an oath that I would marry whoever unveiled me. Didn't I tell you that beforehand? Heh heh…"

Ye Feng was utterly dumbfounded. 'Isn't that the exact same outcome either way?'

Rhea led her people away, disappearing in a flash and leaving Ye Feng standing there, speechless with exasperation.

Just then, another group of people hurried over.

It was Qiao Dongliang, who had arrived with the rest of the Qiao family.

When Qiao Dongliang saw that Qiao Ling'Er and the others were all safe and sound, he let out a long sigh of relief.

Qiao Ling'Er went over to him. "Dad, why did you only just get here?" she called out.

Qiao Dongliang replied helplessly, "On our way here, members of the Beast Race ambushed us and started a vicious fight for no apparent reason. They just inexplicably retreated a moment ago, which is why we could finally get here!"

Ye Feng was startled. 'This Rhea is incredibly cunning,' he thought. 'She knew to pin down our reinforcements.'

But his brow quickly furrowed. "I've heard about that birthmark on Rhea's face. The Beast Race has searched far and wide for famous doctors because of it, but no one has been able to remove it. You deceived Rhea. When the time comes, they will definitely come looking for trouble over this. You've stirred up a hornet's nest!"

Ye Feng smiled and said, "Uncle Qiao, don't worry. I really can restore her face!"

Qiao Dongliang said nothing, but his eyes were filled with disappointment. 'Why does this kid love to boast so much?'

The group bid farewell to Lin Peipei and returned to Xia City.

But to their surprise, they found the city gates shut tight and the drawbridge raised high.

Old Wei shouted up at the guards on the city wall, "Can't you see the Patriarch has returned? Hurry up and lower the drawbridge! Open the gates!"

Old Wei had barely finished speaking when a figure appeared atop the wall. He looked down at Qiao Dongliang and sneered, "Qiao Dongliang, you won't be coming back!"

It was the Grand Elder.

Old Wei saw him and cried out in astonishment, "Grand Elder, you… what is the meaning of this?"

The Grand Elder chuckled. "Was I not clear enough? Then let me tell you again: this Qiao family is now under my control!"
