Ultimate Master in the City
Chapter 488 - 487: The Qiao Family Is Here, Who Dares to Cause Trouble?
Hearing the crowd's shouts, the curly-haired man's face flushed beet red. His mouth hung open, utterly speechless. Facts speak louder than words. At this point, nothing he could say would be enough to defend Western medicine.
"Young Miss, you scared me to death! You really scared me!" the old man shouted excitedly, clutching the girl's hand. The next moment, he was weeping with joy.
After a long while, his emotions finally settled. Then, a thought seemed to strike him. His expression changed as he turned to Ye Feng and asked urgently, "Divine Doctor, will my young miss's illness relapse?"
Ye Feng replied with complete confidence, "After we get off the plane, I'll prescribe her an herbal formula. I guarantee that after one course of treatment, she will make a full recovery and the illness will never return!"
"Wonderful! That's wonderful! We will be sure to reward you handsomely!" the old man exclaimed, a joyous smile spreading across his face.
「At noon, the plane landed at the airport.」
The old man looked at Ye Feng and quickly asked, "Little Divine Doctor, where are you headed?"
"The Barbaric Land," Ye Feng said with a smile.
"Well, what a coincidence! Our home is in the Barbaric Land. We're heading the same way!"
Just then, several SUVs pulled up. The old man helped the young miss into the lead vehicle, then opened the door of one of the others. He looked at Ye Feng and his companions and said respectfully,
"Divine Doctor, please get in!"
"Thanks!" 'Perfect, I can hitch a ride. Plus, I'm unfamiliar with the Barbaric Land; this old man could serve as a guide.'
So, Ye Feng didn't refuse and got right in.
The vehicles started up, leaving the airport and speeding toward the frontier.
Outside, the lush greenery gradually gave way to a desolate, yellow landscape. A fierce wind howled, whipping up sand and stones until everything more than fifty meters away was completely obscured.
"So this really is the Barbaric Land," Ye Feng muttered.
The old man nodded and said quickly, "The living conditions in the Barbaric Land are extremely harsh. Bandits run rampant, local clans are everywhere, and killings are a daily occurrence. It's truly no place for ordinary people to live."
He then looked at Ye Feng and asked curiously, "Little Divine Doctor, may I ask what brings you to the Barbaric Land?"
Ye Feng looked at the old man and replied with a smile, "I'm here looking for someone."
The old man's eyes lit up. "Is that so? Our Patriarch will surely be able to help you."
The old man asked another question, "Little Divine Doctor, you're from the Great Xia Empire, correct? Where is your home?"
"Southern Province," Ye Feng replied casually.
"Well, what a coincidence! Our Patriarch is also from the Southern Province! It's like we've met someone from back home!" the old man exclaimed.
"Sir, your family is also from the Southern Province?" Ye Feng asked. 'What a coincidence!'
"Yes, that's right! Little Divine Doctor, I am the butler of the Qiao family. Please, just call me Old Wei," the old man said with a smile.
"My name is Ye Feng. You can just call me by my name," Ye Feng nodded.
"In that case, I will call you Divine Doctor Ye," Old Wei said with a smile and a nod.
But just then, the convoy screeched to a halt. A cacophony of shouts and the sound of fists banging on metal erupted from up ahead. "Everyone get the hell out!"
Ye Feng glanced out the window and saw a group of burly, dark-skinned men clad in animal hides blocking their path. They brandished an assortment of weapons, from sabers to spears.
People from the lead vehicle got out. A few bodyguards glared at the men and said coldly, "Get lost now, or die!"
A large man with an iron ring through his nose glared at the bodyguards and sneered, "You ants think you can stand against us? You're not worthy!"
With a wave of his hand, he roared, "Everyone, attack! Take the vehicles and the women! Cripple all the men!"
His men roared in agreement and charged toward the bodyguards.
But then Old Wei stepped out of the car. He looked at the attackers and bellowed, "This is a convoy of the Qiao family! I'd like to see who dares cause trouble now!"
The big man started to speak arrogantly, "The Qiao family? What the hell is that..."
But he quickly caught himself and exclaimed in alarm, "The Qiao family? You're people from the Qiao family!"
In the next instant, the color drained from his face.
"Scram, now. Or don't blame the Qiao family for what happens next," Old Wei said grimly.
A look of fear washed over the bandit leader's face. Without daring to utter another word, he and his men scurried away, quickly vanishing into the desert.
Old Wei looked at his men and commanded, "Unfurl the Qiao family banner and let's keep moving. If any other blind fools dare to step out of line, show them no mercy!"
The men acknowledged the order, quickly raising the Qiao family banner. The convoy started its engines and continued onward.
Ye Lingtian looked at Old Wei and remarked, "It seems the Qiao family is quite powerful here in the Barbaric Land."
Old Wei nodded and replied with a small smile, "Yes, in the Barbaric Land, the Qiao family does carry some weight. Common thugs wouldn't dare to act so brazenly in our presence."
In the back, Wei Qingyun breathed a long sigh of relief. 'With the Qiao family's help, this trip should go much more smoothly.'
But at that very moment, the convoy stopped again. A chilling voice drifted from up ahead, "All of you, get out!"
"Damn it!" Old Wei erupted in fury. 'I was just bragging about how no one dares to mess with the Qiao family, and before the words are even out of my mouth, someone shows up to make trouble? What a slap in the face!'
Burning with rage, Old Wei roared,
"Everyone out of the cars! Kill them!"
The bodyguards disembarked and charged forward.
Old Wei looked at Ye Feng and said with confidence, "Divine Doctor Ye, these bodyguards are all elites of the Qiao family. Many of them are at the Martial Immortal level, and there are even two Tier One Daoist Saint masters among them.
With them handling it, these blind fools will certainly be crippled. You can rest assured..."
Before the words were even out of his mouth, a series of horrific screams echoed from outside.
Hearing that something was wrong, Old Wei yanked open the window to look outside. His pupils contracted violently. All of the bodyguards were on the ground, spitting up mouthfuls of blood, their status unknown.
