Chapter 66: It’s Right to Call You Big Brother (Green Tea Version)
Chapter 66: Chapter 66: It’s Right to Call You Big Brother (Green Tea Version)
Xi Yi’s eyes flickered. "This..."
Before he could finish, Su Luoluo cut him off. "I just developed this bun recipe these past few days. My Mother doesn’t know how to make them."
Hearing this, Mo Xuan gave the corn bun in his hand another look, surprised. "You can actually invent your own food?"
He had always thought her adoptive mother taught her how to make all this delicious food. He never expected her to be able to come up with dishes on her own.
Su Luoluo was not pleased when she heard this. "What’s that supposed to mean? I invented a lot of my dishes, okay?"
To prevent her secret from being exposed later, Su Luoluo took the opportunity to patch up her story.
If they asked about it again later, she’d have a good explanation.
Sensing that Su Luoluo was angry, Mo Xuan quickly praised her. "No, I meant that you’re amazing. All the dishes you invent are delicious."
He had almost offended Su Luoluo. Thinking about all the good food he wanted to eat in the future, Mo Xuan quickly backed down and tried to make amends.
After listening to them, Xi Yi chimed in, "Yes, it’s my first time eating this, and I think it’s delicious. Luoluo’s cooking has improved a lot."
Hearing Xi Yi’s words, Su Luoluo felt the heart that had been in her throat finally drop back into place.
’That was close. I almost blew it.’
After the meal, Luan Ting said to Su Luoluo, "The beast skins have been tanned. They’re ready to be made into clothes."
Hearing this, Su Luoluo’s eyes lit up. She could finally have new clothes.
She had been living in constant fear with only two Beast Skin Skirts. If one got damaged or lost, she’d have nothing to wear and would have to run around naked.
The moment Xiao Ye, Mo Xuan, and Fu Feng heard that Luan Ting was going to make a Beast Skin Skirt for Su Luoluo, they divided up the chores and started washing the dishes and scrubbing the pots before she could even say a word.
Luan Ting had something to do, but Xi Yi was just standing there idly. ’Can’t let him get off so easy.’
With this in mind, Fu Feng crooked a finger at Xi Yi.
Xi Yi heard him and walked over. "What is it, Fu Feng?"
Fu Feng looked at the table. "You’re in charge of cleaning that table. Make sure you wipe it down well."
Xi Yi paused, slightly taken aback. "Wipe the table?"
Fu Feng crossed his arms. "You don’t know our house rules? Anyone who eats here has to do chores. You’re her Beastman, so naturally, you can’t eat for free."
Xi Yi nodded without protest, replying obediently, "Okay, I understand."
Fu Feng was inwardly surprised that the man before him agreed so quickly. ’So obedient?’
’He seems quite well-behaved.’
Xi Yi picked up the beast skin rag from the table and started wiping. Seeing Fu Feng still watching him, he smiled, revealing a row of pearly white teeth. "Is there anything else, Brother Fu Feng?"
"Brother? What ’brother’? We’re not related by blood, so don’t try to get familiar." Just a moment ago, Fu Feng had been feeling impressed, but now he was covered in goosebumps.
"We’re both Luoluo’s Beastmen, and you were here before me, so naturally, you’re my older brother," Xi Yi said with a harmless-looking smile.
Fu Feng found these obedient words to be increasingly awkward the more he heard them.
He never got this strange feeling when it was just the five of them. Why did things feel so weird now that a new person had been added?
He shivered, shaking off the goosebumps, and turned away. "I don’t just accept anyone as a younger brother. Don’t go calling me that for no reason."
’What’s with all this ’older brother,’ ’younger brother’ nonsense?’
’With someone like Su Luoluo, they’re still pulling this male competition crap. It’s disgusting.’
’I’m not interested in that at all!’
After hearing him, Xi Yi just said a soft "Oh," then the corner of his lips curled up. He went back to his work, his eyes narrowing as he watched Su Luoluo and Luan Ting standing close together in the distance.
Once the beast skin was tanned and dried, it could be cut and made into clothes.
Having grown accustomed to buying mass-produced clothing in the post-apocalypse, Su Luoluo found the idea of making a piece of clothing herself incredibly difficult.
Heaven have mercy, the last time she had just cut a few small pieces of beast skin to make a menstrual belt, she thought her eyes were going to go blind.
The Bone Needle was a real pain to use, not to mention she didn’t even know how to sew.
She could barely manage small items, but there was no way she could handle an entire piece of clothing.
Thinking of this, Su Luoluo licked her lips and looked at Luan Ting. "Luan Ting, could I trouble you to help me make a few Beast Skin Skirts?"
Even though Luan Ting was a Beastman, Su Luoluo had personally heard the females in the tribe praise him. His needlework was exceptionally good, and he even sewed his own Beast Skin Skirts.
Su Luoluo had examined Luan Ting’s Beast Skin Skirt up close. It was stitched together tightly, without a single visible stitch hole on the front—unlike her own work, which looked like it had been stabbed full of holes.
Luan Ting didn’t refuse. Su Luoluo was famous in the tribe as a female with terrible needlework.
The few pieces she was currently wearing were ones he had made for her before.
He nodded. "What style are you thinking? Waist-length or knee-length?"
The Beast Skin Skirts worn by the females in the tribe were basically one of those two styles.
The shorter ones were suitable for hot weather, and the longer ones were more convenient for working.
Su Luoluo wasn’t interested in either style. In her eyes, aside from the difference in length, there was no real distinction between them, and they had zero aesthetic appeal.
If these weren’t the only two options, she wouldn’t be making do with them.
’Now that I finally have the chance to get some new outfits, I have to make them look good. After all, I still have to win them over. This is my secret weapon.’
"Um..." Su Luoluo blinked and coughed lightly, a little embarrassed. "I was actually thinking of making something different."
"Different?" Luan Ting sounded a bit puzzled.
Su Luoluo reached out, tugged Luan Ting’s arm, and pointed to a stone slate. "These are the styles I want to make."
Her hand touched Luan Ting’s arm, carrying a slight warmth. For some reason, Luan Ting felt a strange sensation rise within him.
It wasn’t that Su Luoluo had never grabbed him before, but back then her hands were rough and clammy, not soft and slightly smooth like they were just now.
Su Luoluo looked at Luan Ting expectantly, only to see him staring at her hand. She belatedly realized she had touched him.
This was a huge taboo that would provoke their disgust. She quickly pulled her hand back, an awkward expression on her face. "I wasn’t trying to do anything, I just wanted you to come over here."
’I hope he doesn’t misunderstand and think I was trying to take advantage of him.’
When Luan Ting saw Su Luoluo pull her hand back, his eyes still seemed slightly dazed.
She had withdrawn her hand so quickly that it brushed against his arm, feeling even softer.
But in the next moment, he shook off the strange feeling and focused on what she had drawn on the stone slate.
Seeing him looking at the slate, Su Luoluo asked nervously, "Can these be made?"
She was a little worried about the dressmaking skills of this primitive society. Some of the designs she drew required more advanced tailoring, and she didn’t know if they could manage it.
The clothes on the stone slate looked quite strange. Luan Ting felt he had never seen anything like them, but for some reason, they also seemed to look quite nice.
He studied them carefully for a moment before nodding. "I’ve never made anything like this, but it should be possible."
