The door lock made a faint sound.

She carried a glass of warm water out to the balcony.

The bright morning sunlight washed over the eaves and cast a warm glow on her face. Squinting, she stretched languidly and sat down on a chair to enjoy the rare tranquility.

TAP TAP TAP. The sound of footsteps drifted up from below.

Su Yunzhou strolled into the courtyard looking completely relaxed. Li Yan smiled and called out, "Good morning!"

Hearing her voice, Su Yunzhou instinctively looked up toward the balcony. Instantly, his heart began to race.

Li Yan was wearing that figure-hugging, white floral slip dress. Backlit by the sun, she stood by the balcony chair, smiling down at him. Her long hair cascaded over her shoulders, smooth as a waterfall. The sunlight bathed her, making it seem as if her entire body was glowing with a radiant halo.

The entire scene was breathtakingly beautiful.

It was just that... as the saying goes... you can always trust the sunlight to work its magic.

Li Yan didn’t notice anything amiss. She simply assumed Su Yunzhou was just a bit sluggish because he had just woken up.

Sure enough, a moment later.

Su Yunzhou’s lips curled into a faint smile. He blinked and asked, "How are you up so early?"

Watching her movements—and that revealing, righteous light—Su Yunzhou gulped. Deciding to be a gentleman, he forcefully reined in his thoughts.

"I’m going to go wash up first," he said.

He pretended to stretch nonchalantly, took one last glance at that glorious light, and turned to head back into his room.

"Okay," Li Yan replied softly.

She settled back into her lounge chair. A few minutes later, as the sun began to beat down a bit too harshly and lacking any sunscreen, she quietly headed downstairs.

Liu Yiyi was still fast asleep, hugging a pillow. Li Yan pursed her lips, shook her head, and went to the ground floor to call the front desk for room service.

Su Yunzhou emerged from his room. The two sat on the sofa, suddenly at a loss for words.

At that moment, Li Yan’s long legs were slightly crossed, forming a beautiful curve. Whether it was intentional or not, those legs swayed unabashedly in front of Su Yunzhou’s eyes. Coupled with that stunning display in the sunlight earlier, he felt his lips go dry, urgently needing something to moisten them.

"Yanyan, what are your plans for the day?"

Li Yan thought for a moment. "Once Yiyi wakes up, we can go stroll around the ancient town. There are quite a few..."

"She’s not up yet?" Su Yunzhou asked casually.

"Yeah!" Li Yan replied instinctively. "She was probably too exhausted yesterday!"

The speaker meant nothing by it, but the listener took it to heart.

A certain someone’s face flushed red. Last night, Liu Yiyi hadn’t kept her promise. She had spat out what was stuffed in... making a few moderately loud noises in the process. Thinking back on it carefully, he actually found it rather thrilling.

After coming downstairs, she hurried over to the table and licked her lips at the sight of the delicious food. "Wow, what a feast."

Li Yan smiled. "Eat up! I know you must be starving!"

This scene suddenly reminded Su Yunzhou of the breakfast they shared the first time the three of them stayed in a hotel together. Before he knew it, so much time had flown by!

Sipping his porridge, Su Yunzhou asked, "Where are we going for fun today?"

Liu Yiyi said she was entirely at their disposal. Li Yan explained their earlier plan, and the three decided to rest for a bit before touring the ancient town.

Their plans were dashed by a phone call for Liu Yiyi. It seemed a few relatives were coming over to her house, so she had to head back to make arrangements.

"Okay." Li Yan nodded slightly, lowering her head as she spoke. "Do you... want to go see a movie?

"A friend gave me some tickets a while ago.

"I haven’t had the time to go... and they’re about to expire..."
