Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1805: The Results Are Out
No matter his identity, first and foremost, Ian Shelby was a doctor, so he answered her, "Certainly, I will conduct a thorough examination on her, and address any issues promptly."
"Thank you." Janelle Mills’s politeness made him feel a bit unfamiliar.
Then the girl withdrew her gaze, turned around, and sat down on a bench not far away, seemingly having nothing to say to him.
Ian Shelby also found himself encapsulated in silence, patiently waiting for the test results.
Only the results of the test would serve as strong evidence.
Soon, the elevator doors opened again, and Trevor stepped out with his long strides. He immediately saw the girl sitting on the bench.
As he moved towards her, his gaze lightly brushed past Ian Shelby, intertwining briefly between the two men.
In the corridor, with only the three of them present, no words were exchanged; everyone remained in silence.
Trevor crouched in front of the girl, held her hand, gently stroked the back of her hand, and looked into her eyes. Just a single gesture, a single glance, was enough to give her a sense of security.
Inside, Janelle felt a bit chaotic, meeting his gaze and maintaining her silence.
Trevor reached out to pat her small head, giving her a steady look as if saying, "My dear, no matter what happens, I’ll be here with you."
Ten minutes passed swiftly.
The sound of the door opening caught everyone’s attention as someone delivered the paternity test report, "Director, the results are out," handing two copies to Ian Shelby.
"Thank you." Ian Shelby reached out and accepted them, immediately looking at the conclusion at the end, which matched his anticipation: Janelle Mills was indeed his sister.
Ian Shelby raised his eyes, walked forward, and handed the results to Trevor and Janelle, one copy per person.
At that moment, Janelle Mills had already risen from the bench. She reached out and took the report, and alongside Trevor, she saw the concluding match rate...
Related by blood, they were indeed siblings.
It was clearly written in black and white.
Janelle Mills took a deep breath. She pressed her pink lips together and blinked, though she had already guessed this outcome. Yet when the result truly came out and the fact was laid before her, she still struggled to process it.
She had not intended to search for her roots, yet effortlessly found her biological parents.
The emotional impact on her was quite significant.
Ian Shelby stepped forward, embraced Janelle gently, "I’m sorry, I haven’t been able to protect you, sis." His emotions escaped his restraint, suppressed by years of urgency. His voice was deep and steady, with tears pooling in his eyes.
The hug was gentle, gentlemanly, and perfectly measured.
He needed to give her time to digest it.
Trevor stood by, his face showing subtle expressions, unsure of what to say. In his view, as long as Janelle was happy and well, he was willing to accept anything.
Yet now... things had become somewhat complicated; Janelle’s psychological burden had increased.
After a while, Ian Shelby let her go, first giving her a full look then glancing at Trevor beside her. He said nothing, and walked towards the elevator.
The two turned their heads to watch his unwavering back, seeing Ian Shelby press the elevator’s opening button, watching as the elevator doors opened, and seeing him step inside.
Trevor gently placed his arm around Janelle’s shoulder, "Let’s go too."
Both were still holding the reports, unsure of how to start, so she decided to show the reports to Old Mills and Sister Sterling.
They, too, were awaiting the results.
When Trevor led Janelle back to the ward, Ian Shelby was already examining Carlotta Sterling, using the most advanced equipment, looking professional and composed.
"Recovering very well, no major issues," Ian Shelby said warmly, as he checked Carlotta Sterling’s post-operative wound, "The wound is healing well too, three more days and you can be discharged without any residual effects."
Trevor and Janelle, just entering the room, also heard his words—the normal doctor-patient interaction—as if nothing had happened at all.
