Chapter 1803: Go Get a Paternity Test

Janelle Mills placed the bag filled with books on the bedside table, breathed a sigh of relief, and laughed casually, "That really scared me! I thought something had gone wrong!"

Then she looked at Ian Shelby, smiling politely as she said, "Dr. Shelby, I’m back, and now you can help check on my mom!"

Everyone’s gaze fell on the girl, and silence reappeared in the hospital room. Ian Shelby made no move to examine Carlotta Sterling, but instead stared at her intently.

Janelle Mills sensed the odd atmosphere, glanced around at everyone, and asked in confusion, "What’s going on? What exactly happened?"

Ian Shelby’s gaze had been fixed on her since the moment she entered the room.

Internally, he couldn’t help but feel wistful; she had changed so much since she was a child, that he couldn’t recognize his little sister’s features anymore.

Carlotta Sterling realized she couldn’t keep it a secret any longer. She slowly opened her palm and softly called, "Janelle."

Janelle Mills turned her eyes, her gaze landing on the bracelet in her mother’s palm, noticing there was another one on her wrist. Strange, why are there two?

She took a step forward, reached out to take the one in her mother’s hand, clearly saw the word ’fortune’ engraved on it, while her own bracelet had the word ’bliss.’

Fortune and Bliss?

Such a coincidence?

"This..." Janelle Mills asked in confusion, "Where did it come from? Why is there another one like this?"

"This is Dr. Shelby’s," Carlotta Sterling painfully revealed to her, "Dr. Shelby could very likely be your biological brother."

Janelle Mills was stunned, her heart skipped a beat, and she held her breath as she glanced at her mother.

Carlotta Sterling, tearful and profoundly moved, said, "Janelle, Mom already knows that you know, you don’t need to hide it from me."

Janelle Mills suddenly felt a bit of tinnitus; she slowly turned her gaze to Ian Shelby, whose attention remained focused on her.

He softly spoke to her with a gentle voice, "Janelle, should we go for a DNA test?" He believed in the power of medicine.

The words ’DNA test’ resonated in Janelle Mills’ ears like a heavy blow, causing her to gasp as she struggled to stay calm despite being genuinely frightened.

Could such a melodramatic thing exist?

"You’re likely to be my sister, I’m quite certain," Ian Shelby said, his intense premonition growing stronger, "But I need to provide you with evidence."

Janelle Mills forcefully steadied herself, retracting her gaze slowly towards Trevor Garcia.

Trevor returned her look, stepped forward a few steps, and pulled her into an embrace, softly patting her shoulder to offer comfort.

Suddenly, Janelle Mills felt a bit fragile, inhaling the faint scent emanating from him, and it seemed as though the whole world stood still. She knew she wasn’t the biological daughter of Old Mills and Sister Sterling.

She hadn’t intended to search for her biological parents... She had no plans of disrupting her peaceful existence.

But she had inexplicably learned her identity, as if fate subtly prevented her from avoiding the truth.

Her bracelet typically rested in a drawer, seldom worn by her, yet inexplicably ended up on her mother’s wrist this time...

Which happened to be seen by Dr. Shelby...

This might be destiny’s arrangement, something beyond human control.

Janelle gently stepped away from his embrace, looking once more at Ian Shelby, "Let’s go." She then stepped out, as she also wanted to uncover the truth.

Whether to acknowledge or not? How to acknowledge? How should this relationship be managed in the future?

Those are questions to ponder later.

Now that things have reached this point, everyone wants a definitive answer, and the DNA test is the most authoritative solution.
