Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1794: Sincerity
As the familiar large courtyard of the Morgan family came into view, Jocelyn sat in the passenger seat, her heart gradually tightening. Her uncle and aunt had always opposed her being with Ian before.
Would they be furious this time after such a long unannounced departure? Would they say hurtful things?
She loves Ian and does not want him to suffer any grievance.
The car slowly turned and drove into the courtyard, stopping in front of the villa.
Ian glanced sideways at the girl next to him, who also slightly turned her gaze, and their eyes met.
Then they both unbuckled their seatbelts and got out of the car together.
Everett and Jasmine, seated on the living room sofa, stood up, their hearts in their throats, watching through the large floor-to-ceiling windows as Dr. Shelby circled the car to take Jocelyn’s hand.
Watching the pair move toward the living room.
Jasmine quickly glanced at the man beside her, unexpectedly feeling nervous; this Dr. Shelby was not the same as before - he was now the most esteemed King of Lorelei.
Such a status would make any person unsure how to communicate.
Closer and closer... They stepped into the door.
Everett and Jasmine’s gaze fell upon them; Ian and Jocelyn did not greet the two elders, instead coming straight forward and bending their knees, directly kneeling down.
This startled Everett and Jasmine, causing them to step back!
Both Ian and Jocelyn looked up, speaking simultaneously, "Uncle, Aunt, please forgive us for leaving without saying goodbye." As they spoke, they unexpectedly kowtowed three times to the elders.
This shocked the two elders, "Stand up, stand up!" Terrified, they hurried forward to help them up.
Yet Ian and Jocelyn remained firm in their kneeling, their eyes holding the deepest sincerity and apology.
Ian said, "I’m sorry, Uncle, Aunt, because of me, I took Jocelyn away without your permission."
In truth, it was Jocelyn Morgan who followed him after hearing the news, so hearing him say this made Jocelyn feel very sorry too; he took all the responsibility upon himself.
"Get up, let’s talk once you’re up!" Everett tightly grasped Ian’s arm, pulling him up, "You’re now a King; how could you kneel before us?"
Jasmine also hugged Jocelyn, painfully saying, "Good child, please stand up to talk; the ground is cold, quickly get up! If you don’t get up, Dr. Shelby won’t get up either."
He’s the King of Lorelei; how could he possibly be kneeling?
If word got out, what would happen? The pressure of public opinion would be immense.
So, with the help of the two elders, the young couple stood up.
"Dr. Shelby, Jocelyn, come sit, let’s talk slowly," invited Jasmine, not at all angry with them for leaving without notice.
Ever since CEO Kingston came by that day, they seemed to have come to terms with Jocelyn’s romance. After all, a bystander’s perspective is often clear; CEO Kingston acknowledged it, so it must be right.
The young couple settled on the sofa, and Everett personally brewed tea; he too felt quite heavy-hearted.
Jasmine saw the young couple sitting close together, shoulder to shoulder, fingers intertwined, and understood their firm determination and commitment to this relationship.
Attempting to separate them forcefully would be meaningless and probably only in vain.
"Aunt," Ian spoke earnestly, his voice gentle, "Uncle, I wish to marry Jocelyn and settle down in Riventhal."
What surprised the elders was not the first sentence but the second.
"Settle in Riventhal?" Jasmine asked incredulously, "You are now...the King of Lorelei! Such a prosperous nation awaits your management, how could you settle in Riventhal?"
