Turns Out I'm the Real Monster?!
Chapter 267 - 133: Creating a God
Chapter 267: Chapter 133: Creating a God
When Jiang Mu arrived at the source of the signal, it was, as he’d expected, that guy Xu Fu.
At that moment, Xu Fu and a burly, rough-looking man named Yan Zixiao were desperately fighting off a ceaseless torrent of Demons pouring out from caves in the ground.
These Demons were shaped like dwarves, their bodies pitch-black as ink, with scarlet pupils, bared fangs, and movements as swift as monkeys.
They were just like disgusting goblins.
They swarmed out from several caves as densely as an ant colony, letting out strange "CHEE CHEE" shrieks.
Although they were only Tier Two and Tier Three lesser demons, their numbers were simply too great. They were endless, surrounding the two men so completely that there was no way out.
Jiang Mu’s figure flickered, and he used Instant Teleportation to appear beside Xu Fu.
BOOM!
He threw a punch, and his Blood River True Qi surged forth like a furious tide, blasting the dozen or so black Demons pouncing on them into a bloody pulp.
"What are these things?" Jiang Mu asked with a frown.
"Old Jiang!"
Seeing Jiang Mu, Xu Fu was stunned for a moment, then overjoyed.
"I knew you had thick skin! Dammit, we were originally planning to come and back you up, but then these disgusting monsters popped out of nowhere. We kill one wave, another comes. There’s just no end to them."
’Back me up?’
Jiang Mu was highly skeptical.
’This unreliable guy was probably getting ready to head down the mountain.’
"These are Earth Ghost Demons!"
Yan Zixiao explained in a low voice, swinging his sword to shatter several of the black Demons lunging at them.
"They’re low-level Demons nurtured by cold, deathly yin energy. Their intelligence is low, but they breed extremely fast. Once they establish a nest, their numbers can range from a few thousand to tens of thousands. They’re like a plague of locusts, an absolute nightmare to deal with!"
A thought struck Jiang Mu.
’Earth Ghost Demons?’
’Could this be another one of Black Mountain’s schemes?’
He looked at the dense swarm of Demons before him and snorted inwardly.
’You’ll be perfect for testing out my new Magical Treasure!’
With a flicker, Jiang Mu used Instant Teleportation to appear directly in front of a massive cave not far away, from which monsters were spewing forth.
He flipped his palm over, and the Bronze Buddha Lamp appeared in it.
His thoughts stirred.
’Soul-Burning Wax!’
DRIP.
A single drop of red wax detached itself from the wick and was flicked by him into the deep, dark nest.
BOOM—!!
The moment the wax touched the yin energy, it instantly erupted in flames!
An ethereal blue fire spread madly through the cave tunnel like a venomous snake. Wherever it passed, the Earth Ghost Demons turned to ash before they could even scream.
The flames even surged backward, erupting from other nearby cave openings and engulfing dozens of Earth Ghost Demons in the vicinity.
Jiang Mu repeated the process, dropping wax into the other main nests one by one.
In the short time it takes for half an incense stick to burn, the rampaging horde of Earth Ghost Demons was completely wiped out, leaving only the ground covered in scorched black ash.
With their source of reinforcements cut off, the remaining Earth Ghost Demons on the surface were quickly cleaned up by Xu Fu and Yan Zixiao.
To Jiang Mu’s surprise, killing these Demons didn’t yield even a wisp of Demonic Qi, which showed just how cheap they were.
"Old Jiang, what’s that treasure you’ve got there? It’s so badass!"
Xu Fu’s eyes were wide as he stared in utter shock at the shabby-looking oil lamp in Jiang Mu’s hand.
Yan Zixiao also sheathed his heavy sword, his gaze on Jiang Mu complex.
Although he had heard Xu Fu boast about how brave and powerful this Lord Jiang was on the way here, he had privately felt it was somewhat exaggerated.
He never expected to see such a divinely powerful ability firsthand.
’Are all the young people in the Demon-slaying Bureau this monstrously strong nowadays?’
"Just a minor Magical Artifact."
Jiang Mu casually put away the Buddha Lamp, brushing off the question. He gave Xu Fu a strange look. "You, on the other hand... why are you covering your face in the middle of the night? Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were a lecher out to deflower maidens."
Ever since they’d met, the man had been covering his face with a black cloth, leaving only a pair of shifty eyes exposed.
He didn’t look like a good person.
"Ahem..."
Xu Fu coughed dryly, his eyes darting about evasively. He looked left and right before lowering his voice. "Don’t ask. I got a little injury on my face, it’s disfigured. I don’t want people to see."
He quickly changed the subject.
"By the way, Old Jiang, what happened at the Tree Demon’s lair? Did you kill all those female ghosts? And where did that Tree Demon run off to?"
Jiang Mu raised an eyebrow. "How do you know the Tree Demon ran away, and wasn’t killed by me?"
Xu Fu waved his hand dismissively and chuckled.
"Don’t be ridiculous. That’s a Tier Eight Great Demon! No matter how strong you are, it’s not that easy to kill one, right? You’re lucky you made it out in one piece."
Jiang Mu’s expression grew even stranger. "How do you know that Tree Demon is Tier Eight?"
Xu Fu was at a loss for words for a moment, then pointed at Yan Zixiao beside him. "He told me. He knows that Tree Demon."
Yan Zixiao, having been pointed at, was taken aback. He was a bit bewildered.
’I don’t think I ever said the Tree Demon was Tier Eight, did I?’
’I just said she was very powerful...’
However, seeing Jiang Mu’s gaze turn to him, he didn’t overthink it. He sighed and once again recounted in detail the story he knew about the Tree Demon Granny, Si Rumeng.
"Her sister was killed by a heartless man from the Demon-slaying Bureau?"
After listening, Jiang Mu was lost in thought.
’No wonder that woman went crazy the moment she heard the words "Demon-slaying Bureau." So there’s this history between us.’
He looked up at the fish-belly white of the sky gradually appearing in the east and said to Xu Fu,
"You sent a distress signal earlier. Elder Tian and the others should be able to see it, so they’ll probably be here soon.
I still have some personal business to attend to.
When Elder Tian arrives, tell him I’ve completely dealt with the Demons at Meiruo Temple. Also..."
Jiang Mu hesitated, his expression somewhat complicated.
In the end, he just patted Xu Fu’s shoulder. "Forget it. I’ll tell you when I get back."
With that, Jiang Mu’s figure flickered and vanished from their sight.
Yan Zixiao gazed in the direction he had disappeared and remarked with emotion,
"I’ve never seen a Demon Slayer Envoy so young and so powerful. Is he... really only in the Fourth Realm?"
"He’s just a monster."
That was Xu Fu’s assessment.
