Chapter 493 The Name That Shook Her
Chapter 493 The Name That Shook Her
Qin Lingxiao also seemingly agreed with Bai Zihan's statement.
"Anyways..."
Qin Lingxiao said as she stared at Bai Zihan's body.
Her gaze lingered.
Longer than what would normally be considered polite.
Bai Zihan noticed it too, not like Qin Lingxiao was trying to hide anything.
His brows twitched slightly.
Then he slowly leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms over his chest. "Princess!"
His tone carried faint amusement.
"Staring at someone's body for that long is rather rude."
Yu Feiyan blinked.
For a moment, she simply looked at him.
Then Bai Zihan added with a half-teasing smile,
"Even if I am handsome, there should still be some restraint. You already know that I am engaged to Chu Ziyan."
The words hung in the air.
The bustling tavern continued around them.
But at their table-
A strange silence formed.
Yu Feiyan's eye twitched almost imperceptibly.
(Narcissistic fool!)
She thought.
She-Qin Lingxiao.
A woman whose beauty alone could topple kingdoms.
A woman countless geniuses across the continent dreamed of glimpsing once in their lifetime.
And this man actually thought she was staring at him for some absurd reason? Utterly absurd!
Her fingers lightly tapped the table once.
A faint irritation surfaced in her mind.
But it quickly faded.
Because the truth was-
She had been staring at him.
Just not for the reason Bai Zihan imagined.
Qin Lingxiao had been probing him.
Not with obvious spiritual sense.
That would have been crude.
Instead, she used an extremely subtle method-something that someone like Bai Zihan could never notice.
Yet the more she observed...
The more shocked she became.
Her gaze swept across him again.
His breathing.
The circulation of spiritual Qi beneath his skin.
Qin Lingxiao's pupils narrowed slightly.
The Bai Zihan she remembered...
Had been a cripple, and she didn't think it was possible for him to ever recover from that.
His meridians were shattered.
His body had been barely suitable even for basic cultivation.
And yet-
The man sitting in front of her now...
Was perfectly fine.
No!
Not just fine.
He was in the Void Refinement Realm!
It would have been easier for her to believe if Bai Zihan had simply recovered,
but his cultivation shouldn't have been the same as before.
But now, it has advanced.
Either the information that he was in the Spirit Severing Realm was false, or he
had truly broken through after recovering.
Both scenarios were shocking.
Qin Lingxiao's fingers stopped tapping.
Her gaze sharpened slightly.
(How?)
That was the question echoing in her mind. As far as she knew, the Desolate
Heaven Empire didn't have the capability for such a thing.
Bai Zihan noticed her silence.
He waved a hand lightly in front of her face.
"Princess?"
Yu Feiyan slowly returned to her senses.
"...You recovered well."
She said calmly.
Bai Zihan's hand paused for a fraction of a second.
Then he chuckled.
"I suppose you could say that."
But inwardly-
His thoughts sharpened.
So she noticed.
Of course she would.
A Golden Immortal missing something like that would be far stranger.
She leaned back slightly and picked up the cup the waiter had just placed
before her.
She took a slow sip of wine.
Her gaze never leaves Bai Zihan.
Interesting.
Very interesting.
The Bai Clan heir was no longer a cripple.
He had somehow rebuilt his foundation.
Reached the Void Refinement Realm.
Spread a cultivation technique capable of shaking an entire empire.
Although the cultivation was too insignificant for someone like her, she knew
how rare it was in the Desolate Heaven Empire.
Qin Lingxiao's lips curved slightly.
The smile was subtle.
But filled with intrigue. "Young Master Bai..."
Her voice was soft again.
"Now I'm even more curious."
She placed the cup down gently. "What exactly happened to you?" Qin Lingxiao asked.
"What do you mean?" Yu Feiyan set her cup down.
Her gaze remained fixed on him.
"How did you recover? Wasn't it considered almost impossible?"
Bai Zihan paused.
For a brief moment, he appeared to be thinking.
In truth, he wasn't truly crippled and his body could naturally recover, but
obviously he wasn't going to tell her that.
After a second of thought, Bai Zihan simply shrugged.
"I got lucky."
Yu Feiyan's brows lifted slightly.
"Lucky?"
Bai Zihan nodded.
"Someone helped me."
That immediately caught Qin Lingxiao's attention.
"Oh?"
Bai Zihan continued casually,
"She gave me Grade-8 healing pills, and with that I was able to recover."
The reaction was immediate.
"Grade-8?"
Yu Feiyan repeated.
Her voice did not rise much, but her pupils shrank slightly.
She wasn't shocked by the existence of Grade-8 pills.
Someone of her status had seen many. She had even possessed them. But even in the places she came from-
Grade-8 pills were extremely precious.
They were not something casually given away.
And certainly not to someone in a remote empire like this.
Which meant only one thing.
Someone powerful had intervened.
Her mind immediately became alert. (Who? Is someone interfering with our plan?)
Yu Feiyan leaned forward slightly. "Who gave them to you? Do you know her?"
"And why would she give you something that valuable?"
Qin Lingxiao immediately asked several questions in one go.
Bai Zihan shook his head.
"I don't really know, but she doesn't seem to be from the Desolate Heaven
Empire."
Yu Feiyan narrowed her eyes.
Bai Zihan continued,
"She called herself Xi Yu."
Then he added,
"She said she was sent by her Saintess."
The moment the name left his mouth-
"Xi Yu?!"
Yu Feiyan suddenly exclaimed.
Her voice was loud enough that several nearby patrons turned their heads in
surprise.
Bai Zihan blinked.
He looked at her with confusion.
"Princess... you know her?"
Yu Feiyan immediately went silent.
For a brief moment, her expression stiffened.
Then she quickly shook her head.
"No!"
Her answer came a little too fast.
"I don't."
But the reaction she had just shown...
Was far too obvious.
Bai Zihan could tell easily that she knew her, or at least had heard about her.
But Yu Feiyan had already regained her composure.
She stood up abruptly.
"I suddenly remembered something."
Her tone became hurried.
"I have an appointment I must attend."
Bai Zihan raised an eyebrow.
"So suddenly?"
Yu Feiyan forced a faint smile.
"Let's talk more next time." She turned and began walking toward the exit.
But her pace was noticeably faster than before.
Almost hurried.
Within moments, she had already disappeared out of the tavern.
Bai Zihan remained seated.
He slowly picked up his cup of spirit tea.
"I survived."
He muttered.
Although he acted as if he didn't care, he was very nervous. Luckily it didn't
seem like Qin Lingxiao wanted to kill him.
Rather she seemed rather shaken by the mention of Xi Yu.
Taking a calm sip, he watched the street outside through the window.
"...Xi Yu and Qin Lingxiao." He murmured softly.
Then his eyes narrowed slightly.
"They should be from the same place-the Central Glorious Continent!"
