Tribulation of Myriad Races
Chapter 2278: Natural Karma (3)
Death Imperator was left rather speechless by that argument. Then again, he had to acknowledge that Su Yu was indeed very good at talking. He was capable of fooling the living, the dead, and even the projection of the master of the dead.
When the Master of Death returned in the future, he would probably go mad from anger upon sensing that his imprint had gained sentience in his absence. And upon learning that Su Yu was the culprit, he would probably get the urge to tear Su Yu into a million parts.
Death Imperator couldn't spare much time thinking about all that. He was focused on his search for his essence in the river. As for the waves of the river, they weren't much of a threat for a Master of Law like him.
The main defensive measure of the river was the giant, but Su Yu was handling that.
Shortly after, a rumble rang out.
The river's shaking intensified.
As the strongest death spirit, also one of the most senior death spirits, Death Imperator's attempt to reclaim his essence was being resisted furiously by the river. The eyes of the Master of the Perished turned cold as his entire presence seemed to change. Instantly, his aura reached the fourth tier before climbing even further.
The change was triggered by the attempt to remove a super powerhouse from the river.
A domineering voice came out from the giant's mouth, "Audacious! How dare you snatch the death spirits I'm rearing! You're courting death, Junior!"
Next, the trident transformed into a book.
Yes. A book.
Something was completely different about this giant.
As his aura surged, he flipped the book open. A pen appeared in his other hand. He dabbed the pen on the book, leaving a drop of ink on the page. In the blink of an eye, the ink transformed into Su Yu.
The pen descended again, removing one eye from the Su Yu in the book. Boom!
Instantly, intense pain assaulted Su Yu's eye.
He felt as though his eyeball was being burned by death qi.
The giant said, "Junior, as a fellow Creator, I don't wish to bully the young. However, you're pushing it by intruding upon my dao center. Not even a single strand of my willpower is something you can hope to stop. Today is the day you die."
Once again, the pen fell, slashing across the other eye. Instantly, Su Yu's other eye was subjected to the same torture. It was as though he would soon go blind.
"This is my dao center. Contending against me in my dao center is the same as courting death."
With that, the giant crossed Su Yu's nose from the book. Instantly, a large amount of death qi corroded Su Yu's nose.
"You're the Master of Death!"
He was finally facing the real will of death.
With a roar, Su Yu summoned the power of the myriad daos. A book appeared above his hand, and a pen appeared on his other hand. He roared again, "You're not even the main body. Don't even dream of defeating me in this state."
"Drawing? Is that what you're doing? I'm quite good at this as well."
Then, Su Yu wrote on his book. "Seal."
At that, a large seal flew toward the giant.
"Life."
A stream of endless life surged forth, clashing against the death qi of the giant. Su Yu held the advantage of greater strength as of this moment.
However, the giant held the home advantage. As a result, both parties were almost evenly matched, with Su Yu holding a slight advantage.
Noticing that, the expression of the giant changed. He snorted and crossed Su Yu's arms from his book. Instantly, Su Yu's arms were scorched, but he gritted his teeth and drew a gate.
At the same time, his Heaven Gate manifested before overlapping with the gate he drew. The power of the myriad daos also converged on the overlapping gates before shooting toward the giant.
"Heaven Gate?"
The look in the giant's eyes changed slightly. He said, "An impressive idea, but it's too weak. I don't even fear the original gate, much less a mere projection like this."
"Stop talking shit when you're a projection as well." Su Yu snorted. Was this projection treating itself as the real body?
At that, the giant blinked. Yes...he was not the main body. That slight delay was enough for the gate to wrap countless chains around the giant.
"Impudent!" The giant roared, "Not even the Master of Time himself can hope to seal me away! How can a mere sealing chain dream of sealing me? Break!"
With a roar, the book in the giant's hand exploded. The explosion struck the gate, destabilizing it and sending it toward the path of collapse.
Su Yu took note of every single word spoken by the giant during the short exchange.
With a snort, he said, "The projection of the gate can't do much to you. In that case, I'll go upstream and look for the Heaven Gate at the very end to deal with you."
The giant cut him off, "Can you even go that far? Stop boasting shamelessly."
A large amount of death qi erupted from the giant's body. As the river shook, the giant threw a punch at the gate, further destabilizing it.
Su Yu laughed, "I will attack from the outside while Culture King and Martial King can attack from the inside. How will you survive this pincer attack?"
"Heh." The giant sneered, "Are you talking about those two? So you're with them? Heh. They should worry about their own trouble before worrying about me."
Su Yu's heart thumped at that confirmation. Sure enough, the Master of Death was behind the Heaven Gate as well.
So many supreme powerhouses were gathered there. More importantly, the enemy Culture King and Martial King were facing did not seem to be the Master of Death. In fact, it sounded as though there wasn't much interaction between the two parties.
Just as Su Yu was about to say more, the giant's eyes turned cold, "Are you trying to fish information from me? Foolish. What can you do even if you know more? You can't even enter the Heaven Gate."
Boom!
The giant's aura surged as he threw another punch at the gate. Far away, Death Imperator roared as his aura skyrocketed. In the flash, he rushed into Liu Hong's ink dao before moving toward Su Yu's world. With the previous attempt serving as the example, he knew exactly what to do here.
The look in the giant's eyes changed as he said, "Chen, I granted you your second life back then. Why are you betraying me after that?"
Death Imperator's expression changed slightly as he said, "I...only wish to live one more time..."
"Hmph!" The giant looked at Su Yu and sneered, "Things are too chaotic behind the Heaven Gate, so I can't project too much of my strength here. Otherwise, I could have squashed you like a bug. I will allow you this small victory, but you'd better not enter the Heaven Gate and start praying that it won't open. Otherwise, you're dead."
Su Yu laughed and said, "I'll worry about that in the future. By the way, why are you so violent—"
Boom!
With a rumble, the giant vanished, leaving only his voice behind, "Enter the Heaven Gate and look for me if you're feeling so brave. So those two are related to you? Fine. I didn't want to meddle in the affairs of others, but now, they shall pay for what you did."
Su Yu's expression changed as he hurriedly shouted, "No! I don't even know them that well!"
No response came. The river calmed. Silence returned to the world.
Su Yu was too distracted to care about Death Imperator's resurrection.
His mouth was left agape for quite a while before he muttered, "Did I...mess things up?"
Culture King and the others messed things up for Human Emperor, and Human Emperor messed things up for Su Yu...with Su Yu messing things up for Culture King...
Was this how karma worked? He had not expected that.
"Uhm...oops? I did not expect that from him..."
Su Yu didn't know what to say. Would Culture King be dead after this? Could he cancel his trip to the Heaven Gate since there would be nobody left for him to save after this?
***
At the same time.
Somewhere amid the boundless darkness, Culture King and Martial King were still moving carefully in concealment when a burst of death qi erupted suddenly.
A frosty voice rang out, "Culture and Martial Kings? Well done. That guy seemed so familiar; I now understand why. He's with you! How dare he encroach upon my dao? Are you ready to face my wrath?"
Boom!
An overwhelmingly powerful aura surged.
***
Martial King looked at Culture King blankly and asked, "Is he talking to us?"
What happened?
He couldn't understand this. Was this...a challenge or something?
Culture King's mouth was twitching as he muttered softly, "Shit! It's that kid! He somehow offended this guy! More importantly, he made us the scapegoats for it!"
Martial King blinked. That kid? Su Yu?
Holy shit!
This death guy wasn't an easy opponent. Not even Old Culture could handle that guy easily.
Martial King gasped, "Your kid messed things up for us?"
This was too terrifying.
"I knew it! He's just like you! Even Master of Death agrees. Old Culture, you're quite good at messing things up for others, but your son is even better!"
"..."
What was that?
Culture King felt like coughing blood. What did he do to deserve this? This had nothing to do with him! How was he still taking the blame for what others did, even when he was trapped inside the Heaven Gate?
Far away, the same voice rang out, "I'll find you. Is that your successor or your descendant? White robes...it must be the white robes. These white robes must have been your way of insulting me. So you have been hostile toward me since the beginning. You deserve death!"
The Master of Death preferred black robes.
Culture King's face turned green. Was he related to that kid just because he was wearing white robes? What bullshit logic was this?
Martial King transmitted, "Old Culture, I told you this long ago! Stop wearing your white robes! You wouldn't listen! It's over! We're no match for that guy!"
It wouldn't be that bad for them to face only that guy. Even if they couldn't win, they could still run. But they already had a different enemy, one that was exceptionally powerful as well.
Culture King's eyes flickered. After a moment, his laughter reverberated everywhere, "Many thanks, Fellow Daoist, for helping me with my escape. Watch out for their encirclement, friend. I'll be taking my leave!"
Then, Culture King dragged Martial King off.
Since that fellow was trying to join the fight, sure. He could join, but not in a way he was expecting.
