Stable Army Marquis paled as he heard all that. He knew that Su Yu’s group was powerful. They even had someone at the level of a heavenly king: Lan Tian. But that was the sole expert of such level in their group. There was still a gap between Great Zhou King and a heavenly king. The same could be said for Su Yu.

Including Shadow Marquis, they wouldn’t be able to gather more than eight Daofuses. Even including Cloud Fire Marquis, they would have nine Daofuses. The gap was too big. The myriad races would assemble more than double the number of Daofuses humanity could amass.

And this wasn’t even the limit of the myriad races. Reinforcements might arrive at any time to back those Daofuses up. They would never win against such a force.

With a look of despair, Stable Army Marquis said, “We can’t do it. It’s not that we don’t want to, Shadow, but we can’t. It’s hopeless. You know how things are. If we fight rashly, we will only end up throwing our lives away without accomplishing anything.”

Instead of replying, Shadow Marquis looked at Su Yu.

Su Yu smiled and asked, “Why are you looking at me? Three pseudo kings and twenty Daofuses. I’m not a Master of Law. What can I do about a force this powerful?”

It was indeed a hopeless situation. This wasn’t even a lie. If he were already strong enough to defeat three pseudo kings and twenty Daofuses, he would probably only need several battles to wipe out the myriad races. Why would he still hide around like a rat?

Shadow Marquis sighed and asked, “Fellow Daoist Nameless, is there really nothing we can do?”

Su Yu shook his head, “Nope. This is clearly a hopeless situation. I don’t intend to throw my life away so easily.”

“True.” Shadow Marquis sighed again and asked, “Fellow Daoist Nameless, are you a human?”

“Yes.” Su Yu smiled and answered, “Since I have answered your question, allow me to ask you one question as well.”

“Go ahead, Fellow Daoist.”

“How did Minshan die?”

Shadow Marquis replied, “The immortals discovered his whereabouts, contacted several pseudo kings, and launched a surprise attack against his hiding place.”

“Are there many pseudo kings among the immortals?”

“Like the devils, they have three publicly known pseudo kings.” Shadow Marquis explained, “The divines, devils, and immortals are similar in strength. Marquis Minshan was a pseudo king as well, but he couldn’t survive the encirclement of multiple pseudo kings.”

With a regretful tone, Shadow Marquis said, “If he were still around, they myriad races would still fear us to a certain extent. A pseudo king could wreak a lot of havoc acting from the shadows.”

Su Yu nodded. With the same smile on his face, he asked, “If I were to attack the various dao centers with some people, would the myriad races continue with their attack against Cloud Fire Marquis?”

Shadow Marquis asked, “Attacking the dao centers? Humanity did this before. But as you know, the devils are sending only five or so Daofuses for this operation. They still have ten or so left to protect their territory. Daofuses can cross large distances instantly. Their Daofuses and pseudo kings can arrive instantly, turning any attempt to attack them into a death trap for the attackers.”

Su Yu nodded and said, “So are we really out of options?”

Shadow Marquis said bitterly, “I intend to hide myself near Divine Fire Mountain. If Cloud Fire Marquis is lucky enough, he can escape by making use of the unique terrain there. At that time, we can provide support to him from the outside.”

In short, they could only gamble on luck. Or to be precise, they could only gamble on Cloud Fire Marquis’ luck. To escape the encirclement of over twenty Daofuses, one needed to be excessively lucky.

Su Yu sank into thought. After a moment, he asked, “Is there a place the myriad races care a lot about? A place they will definitely return to defend once attacked. A place important enough for them to give up on Cloud Fire Marquis.”

Stable Army Marquis continued his explanation, “A place where masterless daos can be found, a strategic location under the myriad races’ control. Back then, humanity controlled that place. That is a place where masterless daos will appear every now and then. The myriad races are in constant competition over those daos, and heavy forces are stationed there at all times.

“That is a place with more than one pseudo king. The various races have their hidden forces concealed there. There are also old fellows who have been in seclusion there for many years. Humanity has been driven out of that place since the defeat six thousand years ago.”

Su Yu nodded. He could guess what place that was. The leaking hole of the River of Time. That was definitely the case. That must be the location Human Emperor had picked to pioneer his own dao back then. It was similar to the node connecting the River of Time and Celestial River of Death.

It wouldn’t be unusual for the powers of laws to leak out of such a place occasionally. This was most likely the origin of the so-called masterless daos.

Shadow Marquis said with the same calm, “That is the most important place for the myriad races. Even when they have sufficient forces guarding that place, Bloodbreak Marquis and the others will return the moment something happens. That place is far more important than a mere Cloud Fire Marquis.”

He continued, “We know about that place since humanity once controlled it. That is a place where one can cultivate the dao at a far higher speed. And if one is lucky enough to capture a masterless dao, one can switch one’s dao or further reinforce one’s dao with it. That is the greatest land of opportunity for Daofuses.

“That place has also played a big role in the rapid increase in the number of myriad race Daofuses. Six thousand years ago, humanity and the myriad races shared that place.”

Shadow Marquis said, “If Fellow Daoist Nameless is willing to help, you can attack this place. The myriad races will definitely give up on their plan to attack Cloud Fire Marquis to reinforce that place.”

Stable Army Marquis countered with fury, “Nonsense! There might be three pseudo kings gathered at the Divine Fire Mountain, but there will be at least double that amount at that place. In that case, we might as well go straight to the Divine Fire Mountain. Shadow, stop stirring trouble!”

He hurriedly sent Su Yu a voice transmission, “Emperor Yu, don’t listen to his nonsense! That place is very important for the myriad races. Far more important than Cloud Fire Marquis. A majority of their secret experts are hiding there, including some who are near the level of a Master of Law.”

Su Yu nodded and asked through voice transmission, “I see. Are you saying that this fellow is trying to get me killed?”

“Not really. This might be a test. Shadow has always been a paranoid guy. I don’t think he wishes you harm, but this is his nature as someone in charge of information gathering. Please forgive him for this, Emperor Yu.”

Su Yu nodded again and asked another question, “Since you have been at the Dao Origin Land before, I have a question. Can you enter the River of Time there?”

“Yes.” Stable Army Marquis replied, “That is a massive place. In fact, it is probably comparable to Chaos Mountain in size. You can enter the River of Time anywhere there. That is also a holy land of cultivation. It is much easier for someone to reach the Eternal or even the Daofuse Realm there. The pressure you will feel there is also much lighter compared to what you will feel in the Lower Realm. Pressure…is not accurate. But I don’t know how to describe it. This was most likely not a coincidence. Rather, it was probably a deliberate design by Human Emperor. After all, the chaos power of Chaos Mountain might prove distracting if he were to open a new dao here. The further he went from the Chaos Mountain, the less distracting it would be.

Furthermore, the ancient beasts of Chaos Mountain would also not react kindly to the opening of a new dao in the Upper Realm. After all, the successful opening of a new dao might suppress the Chaos Mountain, turning the Upper Realm into a place of order like the Lower Realm. It might even result in the disappearance of the Chaos Mountain. All the beasts there would be forced to assimilate.

“That won’t be an easy place to attack.”

After a short wait, he said, “Stable Marquis and Fellow Daoist Nameless, are you willing to help?”

Shadow Marquis said, “That is not my intention. But I believe that Fellow Daoist Nameless has a rather powerful force behind him. Cloud Fire is no pushover either. He is slightly stronger than the two of us. If rescue is possible, we naturally need to give it a try. We don’t know the status of the Lower Realm humans. And up here, the six of us are the only Daofuses left. If we lose Cloud Fire as well, do we still help the Lower Realm humans when the Upper Realm opens?
