Trash of the Count's Family
Book 2: Chapter 429: 2 roles for 1 person and the chaotic Demon World (3)
<2 roles for 1 person and the chaotic Demon World (3)>
Shaaaaaaaaaaa-
The sound of the wind tickled people’s ears.
The wind brushed past them and headed for the northern altar.
Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-
All of the wind wrapped around the man on top of the altar covered by the grey pebbles of light.
“…….”
Cale moved his hand away from Choi Jung Gun’s body and took a step back.
He then raised both hands into the air.
Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-Choi Jung Gun’s body slowly floated up from the altar.
His grotesque body was not visible.
In fact, the gentle wind and grey pebbles made him look almost magical.
The rotten stench was gone as well.
In fact, every person was smelling something different.
The scent of flowers on a spring field.
The scent of trees from their hometown.
The scent his mother gave off when he was young and in her arms…
The scent of her favorite food.
The different scents that made them happy in the past tickled their noses and shook their hearts.
Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-
The sight itself was not marvelous.
Maybe it was because it was under the red sunset, but the grey light coming out looked extremely calm.
‘IT doesn’t suit the name of chaos.’
The Heavenly Demon had that thought before looking around and changing his mind.
‘No. I was wrong.’
People looked completely blanked out.
But the emotion visible on their faces was too different from what he saw in the Night of the Beginning.
Joy and delight, excitement, and deep emotion.
It wasn’t intense.
The emotions that slowly filled their faces like the tide coming in shook their hearts and minds.
They let the emotion take control of their body without even being able to think about what they were feeling.
‘That is also chaos.’
The direction of their gaze was at Cale Henituse and Choi Jung Gun.
Shaaaaaaaaaaa-
Choi Jung Gun’s body no longer floated up.
Cale slowly opened his eyes.
He opened his mouth to speak.
He did as the game told him to use the skill.
“All created things-”
Created things.
The polluted body was artificially created by the power called the pollution of chaos.
“Will soon disappear.”
Shaaaa-
The wind stopped.
Ooooo–
As the stopped wind scattered, only Choi Jung Gun clad in grey light existed.
“…….”
“…….”
Silence filled the area.
Everybody looked at the blood-like red-hair that was brighter than the sunset.
They could not easily open their mouths.
This sight wasn’t marvelous, eye-catching or extremely beautiful, but…
They could not look away.
Grey light.
This light made their hearts feel so warm.
Cale started to speak again.
All created things will soon disappear.
“As carried on from the beginning-”
Ssss–
The grey light slowly seeped into Choi Jung Gun’s body.
Cale quietly watched before speaking again.
“As you were born-”
He suddenly had a thought.
As carried on from the beginning.
As you were born.
The Church of the God of Chaos seemed to find the word, ‘beginning,’ extremely important.
The name of their Holy Land was the Night of the Beginning as well.
Maybe they thought that the ‘beginning’ reflected the appearance of chaos well?
Cale continued to think but finished his task properly as well.
The last phrase came out of his mouth.
“Return to your original appearance.”
All created things will disappear.
Return to your original appearance.
Ooooooooong!
Choi Jung Gun’s body, well, the grey light seeping into his body to be exact, shook intensely.
“Mm!”
“!”
People’s hairs fluttered at the wind pushed out by the shaking.
But they could not look away.
Ssss–
The grey light released an intense light before completely entering Choi Jung Gun’s body.
“Ah, the body-”
The skin that had become grotesque after being dyed grey and the swollen veins returned to normal.
Drip. Drip.
From his closed eyes, his nose, his slightly open mouth, his ears…
Drip. Drip.
Grey waterdrops fell down.
The grey color that dyed his skin was slowly getting lighter.
The pollution was disappearing from Choi Jung Gun’s body not too slowly but also not too fast.
‘Something is weird.’
The old man had that feeling.
The grey that had colored that man’s body had been disgusting and caused him fear… He had not even wanted to approach it, but…
Why was the grey color surrounding his body so beautiful?
No, why did it feel so warm?
And those waterdrops falling down right now-
‘They don’t look dirty.’
Plop plop
The grey waterdrops that fell on the altar flowed down the altar to the ground.
They then seeped into the dirt and disappeared.
They disappeared like how normal waterdrops disappear when they fall into sand.
‘…It’s not special.’
A person was being revived, but…
That sight was not fancy, bright, or special.
Nonetheless-
“Ah.”
Why did his heart beat so much and why could he not control his emotions?
Drip. Drip.
The waterdrops lessened.
Choi Jung Gun’s body was now back to normal.
It returned naturally as if nothing had happened to it at all.
‘How marvelous-’
Yes, marvelous.
That was the only way to describe it.
‘It’s like a miracle.’
No, this was a miracle.
The old man had felt a few things in his life.
The miracles in life always arrived without any special signs.
It did not put forth anything flashy or special.
Just like a strand of light coming down in your life, miracles suddenly showed up and lit up their lives before disappearing without any fanfare.
But there were times such miracles changed a person’s life.
‘Just like when I met my wife.’
He just happened to run into her on the street when he went to another village.
Meeting her was a miracle that happened without any special signs.
‘And I will never forget it.’
Because it was a miracle.
‘It is the same right now.’
Drip.
The last drop of grey water fell down.
There were no more drops.
“Ah-”
And the man who survived slowly lowered to the altar looking completely healthy.
Huuuuuuuu, huuuuuuu.
The man was sleeping while breathing calmly and steadily.
He did not look like a corpse that would turn grotesque.
‘He’s a person, just like me.’
“…….”
The old man felt like he would cry.
He got to recall a precious and happy memory…
And the small grey pebble of light that flowed out of him helped heal this person.
The process of saving this person had been a miracle.
It wasn’t flashy but it was calm, holy, and jabbed at your heart.
“…….”
“…….”
Nobody could say anything.
They did not want to open their mouths and ruin the mood.
“Chief-nim.”
But there was someone who could break this mood.
It was Cale.
“Ah, yes sir!”
Aurora was blankly standing there before snapping back to her senses.
She knew that the power Cale used was the purification used by the Church of the God of Chaos, but she was feeling something odd.
‘This is chaos?
This?
Something this warm?’
She could not believe it.
On the other hand, she could believe it.
‘Yes, he is one of the strongest of the ancient gods. There is no way a god like that would only use fear.’
She quickly focused herself and looked at Cale.
“I think we need to move him.”
She realized what she had to do after hearing Cale’s calm comment.
“Ah, yes sir. We should.”
They needed to move Choi Jung Gun back to the original building.
They then needed to keep an eye on him.
Not only did they need to check that the pollution of chaos has disappeared, they needed to check on his general health.
Aurora saw Cale’s gaze and started to move.
“I-”
But someone was faster than her.
It was Choi Han.
“I will move him.”
“I’ll help too.”
The Heavenly Demon approached as well.
Choi Han had a stretcher in his hand.
Cale looked at Choi Han. Choi Han’s gaze was focused on Choi Jung Gun.
“…….”
The deep asleep Choi Jung Gun…
Choi Han checked on the now normal-looking Choi Jung Gun’s face before biting down on his lips.
Pat pat.
Cale patted Choi Han’s shoulder as he spoke.
“Let’s move him.”
“…Yes, Cale-nim.”
Choi Han and the Heavenly Demon moved Choi Jung Gun onto the stretcher.
– Human, is Choi Jung Gun fully purified now?
On top of the tallest tree near the plaza…
He could see Raon, On, and Hong there.
Cale nodded at them and then addressed Aurora.
“My portion of the ritual is finished.”
“Ah, yes sir! Then is it over?”
“No.”
Cale shook his head.
He looked away from Aurora and looked around.
‘Hmm?’
He then became flustered.
People were staring at him.
‘Well, they should have all recalled at least one good memory.’
Cale was thinking the God of Chaos was unbelievable the more he thought about it.
‘Pollution, fear, pleasure, purification-’
He had numerous powers to sway human emotions.
‘Unlike how most gods have one specialized power, the God of Chaos has all sorts.’
It was like how something on the nose would be a nose ring while on an ear would be an earring.
‘And why do they like the beginning so much?’
The thing you said in the purification ritual…
The name of the Holy Land…
Cale started to think.
‘Is there something in the beginning?’
At that moment…
“Mm.”
Cale flinched.
He felt a vibration in his pocket.
He needed to check it but he first said something to the villagers looking at him.
“There is one stage left to the ritual.”
It really was the last step.
“Please enjoy the feast and make a happy memory.”
Whether a festival, celebration, or whatever…
The end of this ritual needed people to gather together and have fun.
“That’s it.”
He turned to Aurora and asked.
“That’s possible, right?”
“Yes, yes sir! Of course it is possible-!”
Aurora’s voice was full of vigor for some reason but Cale didn’t care and said goodbye to the villagers.
“Thank you for preparing this feast and helping with the ritual.”
Of course, Cale had paid for the feast and the people enjoying the feast were the ones who prepared it, but…
Cale was able to have the ritual to save Choi Jung Gun thanks to them.
‘It is true that their joy helped.’
The God of Chaos used the despair, fear, joy, or pleasure in people’s memories for the foundation of his power.
‘That is why the people who fall into fear are in pain when the fear power is used.’
But the joy used in purification didn’t have any side effects.
“Please enjoy yourselves.”
Cale respectfully said goodbye, came down from the altar, and started walking toward Choi Jung Gun.
He disappeared from this place without any hesitation.
“…….”
“…….”
The people who remained blankly watched as he walked away.
Someone broke the silence and asked at that moment.
“Umm-”
The old man standing next to Clopeh…
He was the eldest person in the village, the former Chief, Tedrick.
He held up his granddaughter as he asked Clopeh.
“Excuse me, priest-nim, what god do you believe in?”
Clopeh had sat next to the former Chief on purpose. Aurora was the current chief, but the one that people trusted the most was Tedrick. Clopeh smiled toward him.
“Who knows?”
Clopeh did not answer.
“That-”
Old man Tedrick hesitated for a moment. His granddaughter spoke up at that moment.
“Priest-nim, priest-nim!”
“Yes, little lady?”
“What was that grey thing earlier?”
Clopeh asked the innocent child a question.
“Which grey thing?”
“Ah!”
There had been two grey things.
“Both of them!”
The child was curious about both.
The people watching them were curious as well.
“The first grey color-”
The grotesque grey color that had dyed Choi Jung Gun’s body.
“That is a power called pollution that someone in the Church of the God of Chaos had used.”
The Church of the God of Chaos.
That word became etched in the ears of the adults in the village.
The child asked another question.
“Then what about that other pretty grey color?”
People focused even more.
Clopeh looked like a holy priest as he gently answered.
“That grey color is a power called purification that the sir earlier used.”
Aurora listened to Clopeh’s answer and thought to herself.
‘How shrewd.’
Clopeh only told the truth.
But based on how they heard it, pollution and purification seemed like completely different powers.
But they were both powers of the Church of the God of Chaos.
“Wow! Purification!”
The child clapped and said that word a few times before pointing somewhere.
She was pointing toward the direction Cale had disappeared.
“Who was that mister earlier?”
“Aigoo!”
Old man Tedrick became shocked and tightly hugged his granddaughter.
“I’m sorry, priest-nim. This child is so curious.”
“Haha. That is okay.”
The granddaughter raised her head out of her grandfather’s embrace and quickly asked Clopeh.
“Is that mister a priest too?”
“Tsk, child! Of course he is a priest-”
Old man Tedrick stopped in the middle of answering.
“No, little lady. That sir is not a priest.”
The old man looked at Clopeh.
Clopeh gently smiled and answered in a low voice.
“A priest, Pope, a Saint… He is none of those things.”
He had thought a lot about this.
‘Cale-nim will end up using this purification power a lot from here on.’
The situation would call for it.
But he could not let the Church of the God of Chaos take the benefit of it.
‘All things will belong to Cale-nim.
Since he is the one to do it.’
Clopeh did not exaggerate and just told the truth.
“That sir is just someone who follows his own will. He is not someone who believes and follows a god.”
Cale Henituse was that kind of person.
He was that kind of hero.
He was that kind of legend.
Because of that…
“As for me, I choose to follow that esteemed sir.”
I am following him.
Clopeh’s words were full of sincerity.
“Ah.”
Former Chief Tedrick gasped.
The red-haired man…
He did not believe in a god and he wasn’t anything like a priest.
He just lived his life following his own will.
And this person in front of him wearing a priest robe, the man who looked more like a priest than anybody else he had met until now, believed in and followed that man.
‘An existence that a priest believes in-’
…A god.
Yes, that would be a god.
Boom. Boom.
The old man’s heart started to thump.
‘The two different grey colors we saw today.’
One was pollution, the other was purification.
The first was said to be a power used by someone in the Church of the God of Chaos, so that should be the power of the God of Chaos.
As for purification-
‘That warm grey color-’
The warmth that surrounded us, the power that made us think of happy memories-
That grey color-
“…The Demon God……”
The old man subconsciously said before stopping.
“Excuse me?”
And Clopeh tilted his head as if he was confused.
“Ah, it’s nothing!”
The old man quickly tried to take back his words.
But everybody had heard it.
Clopeh just smiled and addressed the old man.
“Yes sir. Please feel free to speak freely if you have anything to say.”
Aurora, who had been watching everything, blankly thought to herself.
‘Is it okay to brush this aside like this?’
Clopeh Sekka.
This guy seemed to have done something right now.
But it was too awkward to step in right now.
He had not lied nor had he done anything bad.
In fact, he was speaking the truth and had been kind.
“Mm.”
Aurora decided to just watch for now.
‘The Demon God.’
She had to act carefully now that those words had been brought up.
She had to keep an eye to make sure no unnecessary misunderstandings happened in the village.
‘But since it happened in this village, we can quickly make sure no misunderstandings happen.’
Aurora was feeling relieved that it happened in the village.
As for Clopeh-
“Hoo hoo.”
He quietly chuckled while looking at the sky that was dyed red.
* * *
“Mm.”
Before going to Choi Jung Gun, Cale was walking with the children averaging ten-years-old before stopping once he could no longer see the villagers.
‘What is going on?’
The item that had been vibrating in his pocket…
Cale pulled it out.
He had rushed away because of this item.
Fear.
Purification.
Pleasure.
Pollution.
The parchments found in the Church of the God of Chaos…
The only parchment that was written in text that the system could not decipher…
@($*%
The parchment, which had text shown up in characters like that, had been vibrating until just moments ago.
‘…….’
The parchment was quiet now.
But Cale was well aware of when it started vibrating.
It was when he had a certain thought.
“Beginning?”
Ooooooooong.
The rolled up parchment gently shook.
“Oh.”
The corners of Cale’s lips curled up.
“Human, why are you smiling like you are about to steal something?”
“Meeeeeow!”
“Meeow.”
Cale didn’t answer the questions from the children averaging ten-years-old and looked at the parchment with an odd look on his face.
‘@($*%’
The text he could not decipher…
That was probably ‘beginning.’
“The beginning of chaos.”
Oooongooooong!
Cale’s smile became bigger as he watched the intense vibrations of the parchment.
It felt like he had lucked into something.
