Trapped in the Idol Universe
Chapter 140
Meanwhile, Seo Han Gyeol pressed his ear against the door, straining to catch the conversation outside.
He had just lain down to sleep when he suddenly heard crying.
“What’s happening?”
Watching a fight is almost as entertaining as watching a fire. Before coming into the room, he’d noticed Kim Hojin’s expression looked troubled—now he understood why.
He was secretly hoping they’d have a big fight and Hojin would leave Roy’s place for good. So he began eavesdropping...
“...What is this about?”
Their words were so heartfelt, like two people in love being forced apart. Roy’s words, laid on cushions, sounded like a break-up sign... In any case, it was clear Kim Hojin was the one being cast aside.
“Yeah. Even I could tell his eyes were a little off—that was definitely obsession, right?”
Hojin really had stalker tendencies. Han Gyeol wondered whether he should warn Roy, but fortunately Roy had already realized Hojin wasn’t right.
“That’s it, good, good! Make him cry even more and drive him away!”
Whenever Hojin tried to speak to Roy, Roy would narrow his eyes like a flounder and glare, which grated on Han Gyeol’s nerves. Thanks to that, Han Gyeol’s appetite vanished; he hardly ate and felt like he was losing muscle already.
“Wait. Come to think of it, I didn’t work out yesterday either?”
Damn, my muscles.
Han Gyeol pounded his forehead against the wall in self-reproach, then with a thud 쿵 he fell down, startled.
Meanwhile, the conversation outside was winding down. If Roy had decided to cut ties, he should do it without regret. But Roy hadn’t—far from it, he’d been almost too sweet.
“What a pity.”
Han Gyeol was certain that if Roy had given back even half the cold shoulder Hojin did, by now Hojin would have fled in tears. It might have been a happy ending for Hojin, but for Han Gyeol it would’ve been a sad one.
Disappointed by the unexpected outcome, Han Gyeol returned to his bed.
Just sleep.

“I saw them yesterday; it looked like he came with friends! The friends seemed like celebrities too, but both had their faces covered, so only Han Gyeol was recognizable ㅜㅜ They were in line for the Mahah Express, and Han Gyeol begged the smaller friend to save him (?) lol I think peer pressure drew him here! When he said he couldn’t ride anymore and might as well die, the friend punished him with a neck slice lolllll (another friend there clapped) Anyway, I’m glad they had fun ♡”
└ “What’s Pass-7?”
└ “A ticket that lets you skip the line, sir. You can ride seven attractions.”
└ “222 So I thought it wasn’t Han Gyeol, but that profile is his, so now I’m confused.”
└ “333 The same kid who says the Ferris wheel is too fast rides Mahah Express...?”
└ “Filming, maybe?”

“Guys, I got Han Gyeol’s autograph........ There weren’t many customers today so I was like ‘night shift is so chill~’ when suddenly a blinding light hit me;; I lifted my head and my brain stopped haha There he was, 30 cm in front of me ㅠㅠㅠ He came with his friends, and the shortest one asked for a large popcorn of each flavor. Han Gyeol’s eyes went wide as he said:”
Han Gyeol: “You going to eat all that? It’s late.”
Short Friend: “Why not? You think I’m stingy?”
Tall Friend: “I’ll pay—”
Han Gyeol (cutting in): “Haha! Of course not~ Give me one of each menu item here.”
“But were his friends celebrities too? His handsomeness pierced their masks ㅠㅠ I’m so bummed and sorry I couldn’t recognize him when I saw Han Gyeol! + They watched the movie !”
└ “He returned a few days ago and even shot for Suro.”
The plush carrot doll shook in front of Han Gyeol.
“Okay, this time catch it before it hits the floor, got it?”
This was one of the toys Roy had brought for Hojin’s separation-anxiety training—the twelve-hole carrot-field nose-work toy. Having already solved the second item before even unpacking it, it had become useless.
And today they decided to try the Dong Yo-sam method. It was already day five. Roy had tried eleven of the thirteen methods he knew, but still hadn’t found one that worked for Han Gyeol.
Han Gyeol was growing gaunt by the day—the result of Roy, having forgotten he was a muggle, pushing him just as he had Yeon-woo.
“Still, once you do this, you can rest.”
“Really?”
Where Han Gyeol used to parry any request with a snarky comeback, now he stuttered. Seeing him like that, whether out of pity or thinking his separation anxiety was cured, Hojin quietly brought him a drink.
Hojin no longer glared at Han Gyeol or felt jealous.
“Okay. Do this, then rest well until tomorrow.”
“Got it. Let’s do it quickly.”
Luckily the house was spacious and the hallway long enough to proceed indoors.
“Ready?”
“Yeah!”
Roy swung his arm wide and hurled the carrot doll down the corridor—an attempt inspired by cases where people awakened while playing catch.
Whoosh!
The carrot doll flew over Han Gyeol’s head toward the corridor’s end.
“Catch it!”
Whoosh!
Just as Roy shouted, Han Gyeol dashed forward—but thud—after only a few steps he collapsed, powerless.
“Gasp! Han Gyeol hyung...!”
Roy, eyes wide, screamed and ran to him. Hojin, who had been standing at the corridor’s end, also rushed over, face shocked.
“What’s wrong?! Why did you suddenly collapse? Hyung, wake up! Hyung!”
Thankfully he was still breathing, but his complexion was pale. As Roy panicked and tapped Han Gyeol’s cheek, his hand froze. Then, eyes widening, he stared at Hojin.
“Is he finally awakening?”
“Uh... I don’t know.”
Hojin held back. He’d never seen an awakening, so he couldn’t be certain, but this didn’t look like one to him.
“Roy, don’t you think his complexion looks too bad for an awakening?”
“No. It was like this when I thought hyung was dying—do you know how scared I was?”
“Well, he was bleeding a lot from his injuries...”
“No. I’m sure. This is a sign of awakening.”
Convinced Han Gyeol was awakening, Roy decided to move him somewhere comfortable. Gently lifting him, drip—blood streamed from Han Gyeol’s nose.
“...!”
Because Roy hadn’t supported his neck properly, Han Gyeol’s head flopped back, and the nosebleed trickled from his eye to his forehead.
“Ah!”
But Hojin was even more flustered. Reaching to wipe away the blood, he instead rubbed harshly, covering Han Gyeol in blood.
Peelinng—
At that moment, the door lock clicked open and the manager burst in.
“Han Gyeol, aaah! What have you done to him?!”
“No, that’s not—”
“Mr. Han Gyeol suddenly collapsed—”
“Shut up!!!”
✧
The manager rushed Han Gyeol to the hospital. And the two of them...
“......”
“......”
Were kicked out of the house. It seemed natural since the owner was away, but they felt it was a bit unfair—they’d been guests staying at Roy’s place at Han Gyeol’s request.
“Hyung. Are you going home? Or to our place?”
Roy’s place...!
Hojin nearly nodded in a trance, but managed to shake his head.
“No. I’ll visit later. Actually, tomorrow is my parents’ birthday, so I was planning to go home for a bit.”
“Oh, their birthday? Then you should go. Say congratulations for me.”
“Really? Yeah! I’ll definitely tell them. Mom will be so happy.”
Hojin beamed as if he himself had been congratulated.
“Yeah... be sure to tell them.”
“Yeah!”
Thus ended the brief sleepover, and Roy returned home, lost in thought once more.
‘Han Gyeol hyung, did he really awaken? If so, how do I trigger an awakening?’
He still didn’t know whether the Dong Yo-sam method had worked. He’d already tried eleven methods; if none had succeeded, then the approach was wrong... But what was the problem?
Did one have to face a Blood Fiend to awaken, like Taeeon and Yeon-woo?
If so, he might have to spend twenty-four hours straight with Han Gyeol, as Han Gyeol had wished.
‘Ugh... that would be the worst.’
At that moment, he remembered: Anna had shattered Songpa and fought Blood Fiends bare-handed, and Dong Yo-il had become the fastest person on earth by riding a roller coaster.
“?!”
Suddenly Roy’s eyes lit up. He realized that those who awakened naturally were strongly influenced by their circumstances.
‘Then maybe for Han Gyeol hyung too?’
Han Gyeol was destined to be a wind-element Awakener—Jun-seo had decided so. There was no need to reference others’ experiences... He just needed to place Han Gyeol in an environment where he could strongly feel the wind’s influence.
‘How could I have been so dumb!’
Did he almost kill someone? Roy didn’t realize he’d already captured Han Gyeol.
