Chapter 66: Hunter Club Recruitment (1)
“Okay, gather over, class. I have something to announce.”
Professor Lyra spoke, instantly silencing the noisy crowd.
“By now, it is almost a week since you joined the Elite Hunter Academy, and so many things have already happened.”
Lyra paused briefly and slowly walked around the class, her long hair fluttering slightly, accentuating her curves.
“From boring theory to dungeon explorations, from learning about history to beast classification, from survival training to combat tactics, and much more, I guess you bunch have already realised there is more to the hunter profession than you think, right?”
Lyra smiled lightly, her gaze briefly focusing on Soren’s team.
“You might be thinking that for the first week of academy life, it is just too much.”
“However, don’t forget, you all are elite hunters chosen from all over the country and not mortal beings.”
Lyra’s face turned a bit solemn,
“Your intelligence and learning capacity are much more than those of any normal citizen or even the lower-ranking hunters. That’s why the first semester of the Academy is only 6 months.”
“In such a short time, we have to make sure you guys will be intelligent enough to survive in a dungeon all alone and not lose your life recklessly.”
This was the truth. Not to mention, the classes were held every other day, giving students enough time to tackle the academy’s owned dungeons and gain experience.
Considering this, it wasn’t even six months of actual teaching.
“But just forcing you to take class barely does anything at all. Without any practical training, it is just a stupid rant, nothing else.”
Professor Lyra was very blunt.
“So, from next week onward, we professors will begin teaching in the real hunting field.”
Lyra paused briefly,
“Well, it would have been better if we could train you right inside the dungeon, but it is quite inconvenient, you see.”
Due to the level restriction in most dungeons, professors cannot enter and guide students inside.
So, the next best thing was to teach them in the Hunting Fields.
And Hunting Fields weren’t that different from dungeons. After all, they literally formed due to the explosion of dungeons, also known as Gates.
When a dungeon appeared as a Gate in the real world, it would drastically change the surrounding environment within a certain radius, as if encroaching upon the land.
And if it wasn’t cleared early, it could even continue expanding slowly.
But even if they did clear it, restoring that land was extremely difficult.
After all, such a place already developed the characteristics of a dungeon, constantly attracting monsters, inducing mutations and becoming a natural habitat for them.
Not to mention, clearing each and every monster was such a chore.
Hence, rather than restoring it, such places were turned into Hunting Fields by the country of Arden, and the Elite Hunter Academy also owned several of them.
After all, such fields were the perfect place to train their students.
Not only them, but even other academies and guilds frequently used them for practice.
“Anyway, what I want to inform you all is this: be prepared. Prepare yourselves as if you are going into a real dungeon.”
The professor warned.
“Since you already know how dangerous a dungeon can be from the test conducted by Principal Logan, I expect a lot from all of you.”
“In fact, I suggest all of you form a suitable team of your own for this trip. And those who don’t have one can come to me, and I will randomly assign you to a team.”
“Don’t worry, this is just training, so there’s no need to be too serious about team members. Besides, your safety will be guaranteed by us professors during this trip…”
Professor Lyra showed a faint smile.
“At least we won’t let you die during these six months.”
In fact, this kind of practical training should have been conducted after one month according to their usual ways. But she got orders from Principal Logan himself this time.
She didn’t know what that muscle-brain was planning.
“Professor, wasn’t such practical training held one month later?”
Sure enough, someone immediately found something odd and asked.
“Yeah, besides, we haven’t even amassed enough credit points to prepare, as you said.”
“Why are we already going to the hunting field? Isn’t this dangerous?”
“Damn, I am only level 15. What if I get killed by a mutated rat on the roadside? Won’t that be embarrassing?”
“Bro, you are dying, and you are still thinking about embarrassment?”
“Heh… being an elite hunter also has its pride.”
One after another, students began to complain insistently, as this was just too much.
Although their class rank was high, they weren’t like Soren’s team, who were above level 30.
All they did was conquer an F-rank dungeon and nothing else.
What preparation could they make with just the 1000 credit points they had?
For a moment, everyone began to complain when…
“Silence!”
Professor Lyra’s loud shout forcefully calmed their noise. But still, from their faces, it could be seen that no one was happy.
“Okay, the Academy, of course, knows that it is too early. Do you think we are stupid?”
Lyra rolled her eyes, a bit speechless.
“That’s why, this time we have decided to bring some helpers.”
Professor Lyra spoke while showing a faint smile.
“It seems you guys are quite knowledgeable, so you must also know about the Hunter Club Recruitment, right? This time, the Academy has decided to bring this programme forward due to this special circumstance.”
“Hmm? Hunter Club Recruitment?”
Sure enough, the moment the students heard the name, some of them instantly went wide-eyed with surprise and excitement.
In an instant, the classroom that had gone silent began to buzz loudly once again, even more than before.
Only…this time, their voices carried clear joy.
“Hey, Soren, what is this Hunter Club Recruitment they talked about?”
Sylvia saw how excited students around her were and nudged Soren, her blue eyes filled with confusion.
Even Aria and Evan seemed confused, except for Aurelia, as they didn’t know much about the Elite Hunter Academy’s internal programs.
In truth, Soren should also be just as unfamiliar with the academy as they were, but after the recent events, they trusted him enough that everyone, including Aurelia, turned to him.
Fortunately, he didn’t break their trust.
“Hunter Club Recruitment, as the name suggests, is a club recruitment program held by senior students of the Elite Hunter Academy with the support of professors.”
Soren saw their look and briefly explained with a smile.
