"Is this the Howling Chasm?"
Soren mumbled as he looked around at the area he was in.
It was a hollow depression surrounded by curved canyon walls, where wind spiraled inward right at the edge of a massive chasm below, its depth impossible to see.
Fortunately, they weren’t thrown directly into it, and unlike before, there wasn’t any monster around them.
But...
"Where should we go?"
Sylvia asked what everyone was thinking, as everywhere they looked there were only jagged walls. There was not a single path they could take.
Except for the chasm, of course.
According to the information they got from outside, one needed to venture deep into the chasm to find the boss monsters of this dungeon. Echo stones were also found there.
But there was no path anywhere. At least, they couldn’t see one anywhere.
"Should we... make a way ourselves? I think if we just break a few walls around, we might find the main tunnel."
Evan proposed after looking around for a while.
As far as he knew, there was a main tunnel here that led to the bottom of this place. They just needed to find it somehow.
"Wait... let me try something first."
But Soren stopped him, as that might directly collapse the place they were in. Who knew how fragile it was? If they directly plunged into the chasm because of that...
’Looking at the wind pressure soaring around, I don’t think flying is possible. Although Spirit of Zephyr might do wonders.’
Soren thought before closing his eyes.
’System, use 2 GAP points on my Passive, Keen Sight.’
---
Ding!
[You have used two points of GAP Stat on your A-rank Passive Skill: Keen Sight.]
[Congratulations! Keen Sight (A-rank) has evolved into the Helios’ Gaze (SS-rank)]
---
*Swoosh!*
As soon as Soren used the skill, he felt a stinging sensation in his eyes, making him flinch unconsciously.
Fortunately, it was far less painful than before. Not to mention, he was prepared this time.
Rather, in an instant, Soren felt his vision expand as if it rose higher and higher until he could see everything around from a high vantage point.
He had noticed that for his skill, Helios’ Gaze, to work, a sun wasn’t always needed. As long as the place had a ray of light, he could take its help to swoop into any corner.
Just like now, he could already see them standing on a large depression on the edge of a wall that seemed to have no end.
Looking at it from above, this wasn’t the only depression, as there were many of them, as if carved by the fierce wind roaring through the chasm.
However, he saw that there really was no path outside. In fact, it seemed so dangerous that he didn’t even see a single monster around.
As for inside, it was still surrounded by the wall.
’Maybe, we might really need to dig through the wall.’
Soren thought dejectedly and was about to cancel his skill when he suddenly caught a light from a corner.
"Hmm?"
It was very brief, as if a ray of light had faintly reflected off a mirror. If he wasn’t using any skill, he might not even have realized it.
But...
’A tunnel!’
His Helios’ Gaze directly found a tunnel, right at the ceiling. And that light that he just saw was...
’An eye...’
A pitch-black eye the size of a human head, with a vertical pupil filled with murderous intent, focused solely on them.
"Shit! Aurelia, Barrier!"
The moment Soren saw that gaze, he abruptly opened his golden eyes and shouted.
*Boom!*
At that exact moment, as if sensing his intention, the ceiling above cracked abruptly before a massive monster lunged directly at them with speed greater than sound.
*Roar!*
A deafening roar echoed, rattling everyone’s eardrums as a stark white fang burst forth, intending to tear them to shreds.
The surrounding wind twisted violently, gathering around the monster as its silver claw tore through the air, slicing forward with a sharp, piercing howl that carried enough force to rip through the ground.
The sheer pressure of the attack crushed down upon the battlefield before it even arrived, splintering rocks and sending countless cracks racing across the earth.
Dust and debris exploded into the air as the raging gale surged forward like a tidal wave, swallowing everything in its path while the beast’s bloodthirsty eyes gleamed with savage intent.
"Crimson Barrier!"
*Clang!*
Fortunately, right at that moment, a crimson barrier erupted in front of them just in time, stopping its charge.
The impact shook the entire depression as the monster slammed into it, sending violent shockwaves across the ground. Cracks spread beneath their feet, and the surrounding wind spiraled wildly, as if thrown into chaos.
*Crick!*
Although Aurelia heeded Soren’s call immediately and raised a dome around everyone in an instant, the impact was simply too brutal.
In the end, the barrier only managed to rein in the monster’s momentum before cracks appeared across its surface like a spiderweb.
"Crimson Sever!"
"Blade Dance!"
"Come forth, my summon, Elemental Giant!"
But she had done enough. Everyone got the window of time they needed to react because of her barrier.
In no time at all, Evan was seen leaping high into the air, his longsword in hand, gleaming brightly.
Elara and Elise were already in perfect sync. The moment Aurelia’s barrier shattered with a loud bang, they immediately erected a barrier of blade energy in its place.
Meanwhile, Aria summoned her new Giant, its body entirely shrouded in a gray aura and nearly as large as the wolf itself.
*Roar!*
In an instant, it let out a thunderous roar and slammed its foot into the ground with a heavy thud, causing countless stone spikes to erupt from the earth and shoot toward the beast from every direction.
In an instant, the wolf was attacked from above, below, and the front, leaving it no chance to dodge.
*Roar!*
*Boom!*
In the end, in an incredible turn of events, its skull was pierced, its belly impaled by the stone spikes, and its body cleaved apart by the beautiful blade, painting the canyon wall crimson with a spray of blood.
From the moment it leaped from the ceiling to the moment it crashed onto the ground, the wolf was already as good as dead.
Truly, Soren realized just how much his team had advanced.
"Get ready to fight."
But that didn’t mean the fight was over yet, as it seemed they actually landed right on the nest of the elite monster of this dungeon, the Rift Hound.
The monster they had just killed was only one of many. Soren could already see multiple bloodthirsty eyes staring down at them from above.
Too bad they didn’t even have anywhere to run.
Of course, Soren wasn’t complaining.
"Get into formation!"
Rather, he was a bit excited as he reined in his arrow within the new C-rank bow, raising it high as a faint smirk formed on his lips.
*Artemis Grace!*
