Chapter 168: Professor Lyra’s Summon!

’Fucking idiot, didn’t he say he’d warn me before opening the Demon Gate? Why did it suddenly open?’

Not to mention, it just opened partially, and now Lyra even said it was under her control.

Ruther gnashed his teeth in fury at the sudden reversal he never expected. All his plans went down the drain because of this unexpected turn of events.

’Tch… it seems Crucible isn’t that big of a deal either. It was a mistake to use them.’

Ruther thought in anger, when suddenly a voice entered his mind.

’Professor Ruther, did you prepare the students as I said? If so, I will teleport you all here directly.’

It was from Lyra, who seemed a bit anxious.

But how could she not when this whole incident happened all because of her.

She already regretted heading directly to the enemy’s base after getting that Compass from Lysandra. She should have informed Principal Logan as Soren intended.

Unfortunately, things had already happened. Although she had managed to stop the Demon Gate from opening completely, it was still not closed properly.

And it seemed she would need help from inside the floor of the Abyss. Thus her order.

’Yeah… don’t worry. Professor Kael and I have already chosen the students you want. You can teleport us directly.’

Ruther quickly replied via Echo Stone, his eyes narrowing slightly. Around him were 10 students just like Lyra wanted.

Only… among them were also Elise, Elara, and Aurelia, including Evan.

Lyra just said she needed a few students, and he believed these juniors were strong enough, weren’t they?

After all, some senior students were needed to protect the camp and couldn’t be taken away completely.

’Heh… so what Crucible didn’t give me a chance? I will just make my own. I am sure Lord Lilith will like these sacrifices.’

Ruther thought maliciously. He was just planning to sacrifice these juniors inside the Abyss and blame Lyra for it.

Nobody would even know it was him. After all, he just had to inform Lord Lilith, and she would do the rest.

They would enter the Abyss after all. It would be very easy for Lilith to get them somehow.

Although he was a bit reluctant that he couldn’t enjoy them, sacrifices had to be given, no matter what.

’Okay… then, let me teleport you all. Sit tight.’

Unfortunately, Lyra didn’t know his intention and didn’t think much before starting her long-distance teleportation skill.

As long as she got the coordinates, her skill allowed her to warp that space and transport whoever was inside that space to her location.

Although it consumed a huge amount of mana from her, she couldn’t waste time now.

*Swoosh!*

As soon as Lyra spoke, the area where Professor Ruther, Kael, and a few students were standing lit up with a brilliant light all of a sudden.

“What… hey, wait! Professor…”

It was so sudden that Elise, who was biting her lips anxiously while waiting for Soren, shouted to stop, but it was too late.

She could already feel space pulling her somewhere, along with her sister.

In the end, she didn’t even have time to follow Soren’s warning just now and leave the area.

She should have told him about this before Ruther began choosing students.

’This is bad!’

“Hey, what happened to you?”

Elise’s shout did manage to garner attention, though, as everyone looked at her in confusion.

Elara even asked worriedly when she suddenly heard another loud shout, louder than Elise’s, echo around, followed by someone dropping from the sky like a shooting star.

“Hey, let us come too. I have something to inform Professor Lyra about.”

Who else could it be other than Soren?

The moment he saw the area below shine brightly, he immediately understood what was going on.

Without hesitation, he plummeted from the sky, landing directly with a dramatic impact, Sylvia and Aria still in his arms.

For a moment, everyone froze in shock when…

*Swoosh!*

A brilliant light engulfed them all, and in an instant, everyone vanished from their positions, teleported away.

“Are you sure it is a good idea? What if something happens to them inside?”

Lysandra couldn’t help but ask Lyra, while looking at the partially opened Demon Gate, its surface warping and flickering like a tear in space, releasing a heavy, suffocating dread.

The surroundings already turned grim, the air grew cold and dense, shadows deepened unnaturally, and a faint, corrupting energy seeped out, staining everything with an eerie darkness.

Fortunately, the area around them was wrapped by Lyra’s space domain, saving it from spreading further.

Even the monsters inside no longer came out. Lyra did everything in her power to stop it in time.

Otherwise, the consequences would have been very bad.

Unfortunately, even then, she couldn’t close the gate completely. At least not until she had some anchor points inside where she could mend the void with her skill.

Thank the gods the location behind the gate was just the 10th floor, and she hadn’t noticed any strong intelligent presence behind the gate yet.

“Don’t worry. I just want them to go inside and activate these void stones in certain locations at the same time. I will just teleport them outside immediately with my power after that. It shouldn’t be an issue.”

Lyra replied to Lysandra while concentrating on her long-distance teleportation skill, sweat pouring from her forehead.

To be honest, due to this incident, she already exerted herself more than she should. But she couldn’t rest yet.

At least not until this damn gate was closed.

Too bad, due to the level restrictions, she couldn’t enter herself, needing help from her students.

Still, she managed to clear out a significant portion of the area inside using only her skill, even while remaining outside on the 10th floor of the Abyss.

And even if there were a few monsters, they were only below level 100.

’If they are from the second batch, they shouldn’t have much issue saving their lives for a while.’

Lyra thought when suddenly the area in front lit up brightly, before a large number of students, along with two professors, appeared in her vision.

Only, when she looked at them, she saw that in the crowd there were a few junior students too.

Especially Soren, who almost stumbled right to the ground, two girls latched tightly in his arms.

“…???”

For a moment, Lyra’s face was full of question marks.
