Chapter 166: A ShowDown!
*Roar!*
*Boom!*
“Fuck…!”
Leon dodged yet another hailstorm, his boots skidding across fractured stone as shards of ice screamed past his shoulders.
In an instant, his skill, Shadow Cloak, was nullified, forcing him into the open.
“Leon… what the hell are you doing? It’s just a level 60 monster, for fuck’s sake.”
Kairon cursed as he watched Leon fail to deal with the small lizard once again.
Wasn’t he a level 80 Assassin? There was a whopping 20-level gap between them, and yet he couldn’t even get close?
It felt like a complete waste of time.
“Sigh… it has a domain-type skill, and it can see through my concealment instantly. Give me a bit more time.”
Leon sighed, explaining as he shot an annoyed glance at the healer hiding behind a shimmering veil of unknown origin.
Still, he couldn’t really get angry at him. Not when he was being completely outplayed.
’Just… how is it tracking me so perfectly? And why is it so damn fast?’
Unfortunately, despite its lower level, the Frost Lizard was a master of camouflage.
Leon couldn’t hide from its gaze. Not within this snow-covered domain that surrounded him completely.
For a moment, he was even caught off guard and nearly got injured.
’Alright… let’s get serious.’
’I don’t believe its agility is higher than mine. I just need to get close, once.’
Leon’s eyes finally sharpened as he pulled out a dark dagger from his inventory, intending to get serious.
But just as he was about to dash forward, the lizard suddenly turned its head and darted off to the side rapidly.
“Hmm?”
Confused, he looked over and noticed three figures approaching leisurely.
And to his surprise, the lizard rushed to the man in the middle, perching on his shoulder, its eyes scanning them coldly.
It was as if it was just a…
’Pet?’
Leon widened his eyes in surprise. Just then, he saw Kairon leaving his side and running towards them.
“Sylvia? You’re here.”
The moment Kairon saw Sylvia, he moved like a puppy spotting its master, quickly walking toward her and even dropping his Defensive Ward.
“Wait…!”
Leon tried to stop him, shocked at the recklessness, but Kairon was already standing close to them, completely ignoring the monster on Soren’s shoulder.
Fortunately, the lizard didn’t attack, only hissing lowly in warning.
“Thank god! You’re fine. He didn’t do anything to you, right? The moment I heard the news, I came to rescue you immediately.”
Kairon was completely oblivious, only paying attention to Sylvia, who looked totally confused.
“Senior Kairon…w-why are you here?”
Seeing him getting close, Sylvia quickly leaned toward Soren while straightening her skirt with her hand, her face flushed red.
After all, because of Soren’s urgency, she was still naked below with nothing on. Of course, she was ashamed.
So much so that she pinched Soren’s waist with her other hand ruthlessly in anger.
“Hiss!”
Soren couldn’t help but yelp in pain while looking at Sylvia speechlessly.
This habit of hers really never went away, huh.
“Why am I here? Junior Sylvia…d-didn’t you see it? Why are you still…?”
Their small episode was, of course, noticed by Kairon.
No matter how much of a simp he was, he could feel that Sylvia didn’t seem to be angry at this bastard and even seemed close to him.
’But…how is that possible?’
Was it possible for a girl as beautiful as Sylvia to forgive Soren for his tryst with another girl behind her back?
Kairon couldn’t make heads or tails of this situation and inadvertently looked at Aria, only to see her cold gaze.
“Soren…didn’t you want to know who gave that recorder to me? It was this guy.”
The moment their gazes met, Aria immediately sold him out ruthlessly.
She didn’t like this guy anyway. Besides, if not for him, they wouldn’t have been in danger in this forest, prompting Soren to save their lives.
Truly, this elf was quite pragmatic.
After having her fair share of orgasms, she seemed to have switched sides with Soren once again, her earlier anger nowhere to be seen.
“Hmm? Senior Kairon gave you that? But how did he…?”
Soren wasn’t too surprised by this revelation, as he already guessed, but Sylvia seemed shocked.
It didn’t take long for her to understand everything, though, as in an instant, her face went as dark as the bottom of a pot.
“Senior Kairon…are you spying on us?”
If she believed that Kairon got that recorder randomly, she would be a fool.
She, of course, knew the intention of this guy.
The only reason she even tolerated him was that he was in the same club as her, and she didn’t want to make the situation sour.
However, if this guy dared to spy on them…well, he was spying on Soren specifically, but even then…
For a moment, Sylvia dreaded what would happen if someone recorded what Soren did with her and Aria in the cave just now.
In an instant, her impression of Kairon fell to the bottom as she directly cursed in anger,
“Don’t you have any shame? Being a senior and still spying on your juniors like this? And even trying to incite conflict between us. What the heck is your intention?”
Sylvia had always been a straightforward person.
When she realized what Kairon was doing behind her back, her anger exploded.
She didn’t even care that only because of him did she find out about Elise and Soren in the first place.
Well, considering their unclear relationship, that might be less of a concern for her.
“What? No…hey, S-Sylvia, I wasn’t spying on you. I-I just…”
Sure enough, poor Kairon was totally confused by Sylvia’s outburst as he immediately started stuttering.
“I just came across that recording somehow.”
He finally glossed over the issue, gritted his teeth, and pointed at Soren instead, who was enjoying everything with an amused smile.
“Okay, Sylvia, this isn’t the point here. The thing is, this guy cheated on you. Didn’t you see him kissing another girl in that recording?”
“Why are you still with him? Such a vile scumbag…”
“Stop it, Kairon.”
Kairon wanted to point the blame at Soren, but Sylvia ruthlessly cut him off, her face full of disdain.
“My relationship has nothing to do with you, does it? Can you please stop snooping into it needlessly? And please stop spying on us like this. It’s just disgusting.”
Even without trying, she could feel his true intentions from a mile away.
Did he really think that if she got angry with Soren, his chance would come?
What wishful thinking.
“D-Disgust?”
Kairon looked shocked by Sylvia’s disdainful gaze, his eyes filled with confusion.
In his mind, he still felt that he shouldn’t be the one she should be angry with.
It was Soren who hid a girl behind her back.
It was Soren who didn’t tell her anything.
Heck, it was also Soren who kissed another girl despite having her as his girlfriend.
And he was the one she was disgusted with?
’T-This doesn’t make sense…’
Kairon felt that his worldview had collapsed. For a moment, he didn’t even know what to say.
“Okay, Sylvia…you went a bit far. He might have misunderstood me, that’s all. There is no need to get angry, is there?”
And the funny thing was, just when he didn’t know how to reply, Soren came to his rescue instead.
“Sigh…Senior Kairon, I don’t know if you were spying on me or not, but I don’t want to waste my time on this. Especially with dangers lurking around us.”
Soren spoke lightly while gesturing to the still dark surroundings.
“So, let’s just let this incident go for now, shall we?”
“Just…I hope you don’t pester Sylvia from now on. She is my girl, and I don’t like anyone ogling her like this. Please have some self-respect.”
Soren was even more ruthless as he hugged Sylvia in front of Kairon, his gaze carrying a clear warning.
From the game, he knew that this guy wouldn’t let it go so easily, but he still warned him.
If he understood, that’s okay. If not…
Soren’s gaze lightly brushed over Leon, who had already come near and was standing behind Kairon.
Although he seemed to be just a bystander, Soren could feel that this guy was subconsciously guarding Kairon.
’A level 80 Assassin…this might be a problem. I need to hurry up and clear that D-rank dungeon for Isolde immediately.’
To be honest, the only reason Soren was relaxed despite standing in front of high-level hunters was that he could use teleportation.
Otherwise, he might not even have met them here.
“Are you warning me? You…a mere junior who just joined yesterday…you dare!”
Unfortunately, Kairon was the same as he was in the game, as the moment he heard Soren, his eyes blazed with thick murderous intent.
He didn’t even bother hiding it like usual, completely ignoring Sylvia’s presence.
And why would he when he could feel that Sylvia had decided to stay with Soren even after knowing his scumbag behaviour?
’This slut…you are so cheap that you want to share a boy with another girl, huh.’
He even cursed Sylvia with intense hatred.
“It seems just because you managed to fool a few girls, you have forgotten who you are dealing with. Don’t you fear what we can do to a low-level thing like you?”
Kairon had lost his mind as he directly threatened Soren while clutching his staff, his eyes red.
In an instant, the atmosphere shifted abruptly as if a fight was about to break out.
“What? Hey, Kairon, don’t be impulsive.”
The situation was so abrupt that even Leon was caught off guard as he hurriedly spoke anxiously.
He really cursed himself for tagging along with this stupid guy.
He was just a healer. What could he even do?
In the end, wasn’t he simply threatening them with his presence?
“Oh? What can you do?”
Sure enough, Soren naturally assumed Kairon and Leon were together as he turned toward him, his gaze sharpening instantly.
For a brief moment, despite being a lower-level junior, Leon couldn’t help but feel a faint pressure from Soren’s stare, enough to make him instinctively tense up.
