Chapter 112: Tears and Apologies!
Chapter 112: Tears and Apologies!
Just as Lyra was about to say a few more words, she felt sudden movement from the void channel, causing her to turn around solemnly.
“Someone is getting teleported out…”
She spoke sharply and unleashed her skill, sealing the area around them in case an enemy appeared.
Fortunately, she saw that the people teleported out were her students.
From the look of it, they seemed fine.
*Swish!*
As soon as Professor Lyra spoke, Aurelia and Elara were both startled by the sudden flash of light in front of them, followed by the appearance of two figures.
They were Soren and Elise Vans, the latter being held unconscious in his arms.
“…”
For a moment, everyone was startled, and everything went silent until Aurelia ran straight toward Soren, tears streaming down her face.
“Soren…you’re fine…thank god you’re fine.”
His appearance seemed to finally break the dam inside Aurelia, which she had struggled to hold back all this time.
Seeing him safe, she could no longer contain herself and ran straight into Soren’s arms.
“Hey… hey… Aurelia, wait…”
Soren hadn’t even regained his calm after the teleportation when he felt a soft body slam against his own, hugging him tightly.
“Thank god you’re fine… I was so scared. I am so sorry, Soren. I should have listened to you before.”
Aurelia ignored Elise in his arms, burying her face against Soren’s neck as tears streamed down her cheeks.
For a moment, Soren struggled to keep his balance, completely caught off guard by the sudden embrace.
“H-Hey, l-let me take care of her.”
Fortunately, Elara arrived in time to help, taking the sleeping Elise from his arms.
From her face, it was clear that she was extremely distressed that her sister might have been injured.
“Don’t worry, she is fine. She just fainted due to mental strain.”
With Elise gone, Soren hugged Aurelia, easing her trembling body, before giving a slight consolation to Elara.
Only then did he fully pay attention to Aurelia, sobbing into his neck and holding him tightly.
“I… I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…”
She kept apologizing, her tears wetting his neck with coldness.
It didn’t take a genius to understand what was happening here.
To be honest, Soren felt a little warm seeing Aurelia like this, knowing she clearly cared about a guy like him, a scumbag.
Sometimes, he wondered what good he had done in his previous life to get so lucky.
Well, as far as he remembered, there wasn’t anything noteworthy.
He did give a castle as a gift to one author once. Maybe that was the reason?
Who knew?
“Cough… Aurelia, I’m fine, and it isn’t your fault. Can you calm down now?”
As much as Soren enjoyed their intimacy, he couldn’t let Aurelia embarrass herself too much.
After all, he wasn’t alone. Professor Lyra and Elara were still there, watching them with faint, knowing smiles.
To be honest, even he felt a little shy.
“N-NO, I won’t let you go… not after I almost lost you. I am so sorry, Soren. I shouldn’t have let you touch that orb.”
But Aurelia didn’t seem very strong under stress; she was clearly shaken. She kept sobbing lightly, clinging to his neck so tightly that Soren could barely breathe.
“I told you, it isn’t your fault.”
Soren tried to console her, but all he heard was Aurelia mumbling “sorry” over and over.
For a moment, Soren couldn’t even budge her an inch as she refused to listen.
All the while, Professor Lyra and Elara continued to watch with amused smiles, which only made him more annoyed.
“Pah!”
“Ouch!”
Finally, Soren couldn’t take it anymore. He lifted one arm and slapped Aurelia squarely on her bottom.
The force echoed across the area, making Aurelia yelp in pain and finally loosen her hold on his neck.
“Okay, calm down. Didn’t you hear me? Professor Lyra is still waiting for us. Do you want to make her wait?”
Soren finally took the chance to step out of her arms, his eyes fixed on Aurelia’s.
Then, seeing her tears, he couldn’t help but wipe them from her face, wearing a sweet smile.
As much as he was happy that Aurelia cared for him so deeply, no man liked seeing the woman he cared about cry.
“Are you feeling better now?”
Soren asked after making sure no tear remained on her face, only to see her nod lightly, her head lowered.
Looking at her pitch red face, to the tip of her ears, it seemed she finally came to her senses and realized that Soren just slapped her butt right in front of a Professor and Elara.
To be honest, she was so shy and flustered that she didn’t even dare to look up.
Now that she thought about it, she was really crazy to go and hug a boy in front of outsiders, crying her eyes out.
What would happen if the rumour spread around?
“Okay, as much as I want to let you lovebird have your time, I really can’t wait too long here.”
Just as the situation was about to get once again awkward, Professor Lyra came to their rescue.
“Soren… it seems you and Elise seemed fine. So… should we talk now? I want to know exactly what happened, both inside and outside.”
It was a big deal for her student to encounter such danger right outside their camping site.
Although she already realized that Soren had been the target, she couldn’t ignore the possibility of a strong, unknown enemy lurking nearby.
For that, she needed to know what happened.
How did he get trapped in an instant dungeon, and how did he manage to escape it, especially since she knew it was a C-rank one?
Well… she admitted that she wanted to know the latter the most, since she had already noticed Soren’s true level.
’Level 45…’
Shock was an understatement for the emotions Lyra felt toward Soren right now.
This boy, who had seemed unremarkable from every angle before, had suddenly changed so rapidly that she was struggling to keep up, even as a Professor.
To be honest, she wanted to know more about him.
And maybe apologize too, since she didn’t keep him safe as she had promised before.
