VIVIAN

Vivian stared at Vincent. She kept silent for a few minutes. "Why is he like that?"

Vincent sighed deeply. "Everything I’m about to tell you must remain inside this building. Do you understand?"

Vivian nodded immediately. "Yes."

Vincent looked at her for a moment before speaking.

"There is an ongoing case involving Vega and the eldest daughter, second descendant of the Federick family."

Vivian’s expression became serious.

"I don’t know the full details, but she’s involved." He paused. "She wanted Vega to become her fifth Beast husband. She is an old woman of 60 years who just looked younger than 20. She is a 3S 3 star ranked soldier."

Vivian’s eyes widened. "Fifth? 60 year old witch?"

Vincent nodded. "Vega rejected her."

"And she couldn’t accept that?"

"She did much more than refuse to accept it."

Vincent’s expression darkened. "She used her family’s influence to ruin his reputation and interfere with his career growth. Eventually, she was demoted in rank as punishment."

Vivian’s fists slowly tightened.

Vincent continued. "She left the Military and went to the Saint and Saintess faction. She believed the Military had failed her."

He sighed. "And after that..."

Vincent’s voice lowered. "We found out she poisoned Vega’s consciousness."

Vivian’s eyes widened. "What? How?"

"No female has been able to soothe him since then."

Vincent paused. "Not even his own mother."

Vivian slowly stood. "How can someone be that wicked?"

Her voice trembled with anger. "The entire Federick family deserves death."

Vincent stared at her suspiciously. "Why would you say that?"

Vivian froze. She quickly cleared her throat. "I..I..I mean..."

She looked away. "People like that will eventually receive their death karma."

Vincent narrowed his eyes. Then he sighed. "Female soldiers can be frightening."

Vivian glanced at him.

He said, "I don’t want you to become like them." His expression softened. "Always keep a good character, Vivian."

He looked directly into her eyes. "I know you aren’t an evil female. People just misunderstood you. You are just strong headed like your father. I only wish you won’t be a love brain like him and follow the wrong Males."

He paused. "For my sake, Vivian... do this."

Vivian smiled. "My father was really a love brain for Emelianna. That’s why she ruined him. Who wouldn’t want a beauty like her?"

Vivian suddenly frowned. "But why me?"

She spread her hands. "There are so many female soldiers ranked higher than me. Why choose an F-Rank soldier?"

Vincent sighed in frustration. "Because I believe you can pull him out of his depression."

He thought inwardly. "And besides.." His eyes narrowed slightly. "You have a past with him. That alone may be enough to get him to move."

Vivian lowered her gaze. "But what if I fail?" Her voice became quieter. "What if I can’t pull him out?"

Vincent shook his head. "It doesn’t matter."

He smiled faintly. "As long as you try your best, I won’t blame you."

Vivian was silent for a moment. Then she nodded. "Okay."

"I’ll do it."

Vincent removed the sound barrier.

The moment it disappeared, the noises of the military base returned.

Vivian walked out of the tent.

She looked back once.

I’ll try my best.

Her expression became serious.

Someone like Vega, who saved my life and the lives of so many others, doesn’t deserve to die.

She clenched her fists.

And once I’m strong enough...

Her eyes turned cold.

I’ll make the Federick family’s eldest daughter pay.

I promise you, Vega.

SERIAL

Serial lay on a medical table while Ariel treated the wounds on his arm. "Thank you, Ariel."

Herbert stood nearby and shook his head. "That little injury and you already need a healer?"

Serial immediately looked away.

Herbert snorted. "Those Moss Beasts were disgusting."

He shuddered. "The way they sucked blood with those long mouths..."

He rubbed his arms. "I’ve never been so disgusted in my life."

Ariel laughed. "We had them in the sea before."

She continued treating Serial. "But they were eventually driven away."

Serial sighed. "I’m just glad Vivian wasn’t there."

His expression became serious. "What if she had gotten badly injured?"

Herbert nodded. "Yeah. You’re right."

He looked at Serial. "You shouldn’t have argued with Vincent."

"If you hadn’t, he wouldn’t have sent you to the war front." Herbert shook his head. "Who knows what would’ve happened to Vivian if she were there? With her Zero class ability. The beast will suck her blood dry."

Herbert smiled. "Vincent actually did you a favor."

Serial said nothing. Then the tent flap opened. Vivian walked in.

"Are you talking about me again Herbert? Don’t you have anything else to say?"

Serial’s eyes immediately lit up. "Vivian!"

She rushed toward him. "Are you okay?"

Serial reached for her hand. His fingers wrapped around hers.

"As long as you’re okay..."

He smiled. "...I’m okay too."

Vivian froze. Her brows slowly furrowed.

Is this some kind of usual line males use to woo women here?

She clenched her fist. "I don’t want to hear those words again."

Serial blinked. "Why?"

"Because they sound suspicious."

Herbert burst out laughing. "She is anti-romantic!."

Ariel covered her mouth, trying not to laugh.

After the group finished receiving treatment, they left the medical tent together.

Vivian and Herbert supported Serial as they walked.

Ariel followed behind them silently.

Vivian glanced back. "Ariel came back later?"

Herbert nodded. "Yes."

Vivian looked at Ariel. The Mermaid said nothing to her.

A moment later, Ariel turned and walked in another direction.

Vivian watched her leave.

She’s acting strange.

But she didn’t have time to think about it.

As they continued walking, someone suddenly bumped into them.

"Hey!" Herbert turned around. "Are you blind? This is not the only route!!."

The person had already disappeared into the crowd. A piece of paper had fallen onto the ground.

Herbert picked it up. "Hey! You dropped something!"

The person didn’t turn around. Herbert frowned. "Strange."

Vivian immediately reached for the paper. "Let me see."

She opened it.

Her eyes moved across the words.

Meet me at the Ignora Foresight tonight.

I want to know how you made Ina disappear.

Vivian’s fingers went cold. Her eyes widened. The paper slipped from her hand and fell.

She stood frozen.

Someone knows!!!!!!!
