Sienna had not expected her children to sleep for more than an hour. As if they timed it, Ali and Eli woke up at the same time and went to find Soren. This forced Sienna to take all three children to the exclusive playground in the resort.

It was the kind of wonderland only the wealthy could afford, and it stunned Sienna at first glance. It was not the open sand, with a few slides and swings setting. The walls here shimmered with holographic murals of galloping horses, while actual mechanical steeds trotted in circles. neighing with realistic sound effects.

Cub-sized hover swings floated gently, bouncing children up and down like bubbles. Gaming stations were in isolated pods, some with one seat, and others with multiple shared seats. The children inside were loud, but nobody heard their screams of enjoyment outside.

There was a snack and drink bar that rivaled some of the best restaurants in the city. The number of rides inside were almost as many as you could find in a medium sized amusement park.

"To call this a playground is a joke." Sienna muttered.

Her cubs broke free and joined the games with a shriek of delight. Even Eli, who was usually composed, failed to control his excitement. Soren chose the mechanical horses first, where he went on to pretend that he was part of a heroic vanguard.

Sienna laughed when she heard Eli calling Soren "Sir Wobbly legs."

She smirked, taking a picture that she planned to send the rest of the family later. Sienna took another picture of Gene-Haven, who was sitting in a normal sized childish chair reserved for parents. A handful of children with wide eyes were standing around her. A toddler was trying to climb her thighs.

It was like the playground had added another feature that the cubs were all eager to explore.

Just as she was settling into the rhythm of family chaos, the doors slid open. In walked Arnie, and beside her, Lord Grace Twindell. Sienna stiffened. She had not expected to meet those two here, of all places.

Trailing behind was Mija, looking radiant in a white fur cloak. She was carrying a bouquet of flowers in one hand. The other hand was intertwined with that of a man. The man Mija had called her husband. He was similarly dressed in white. They looked like a bride and groom.

"Si!!" Mija waved the bouquet excitedly. "Guess what?We just got married!"

Sienna nearly choked on her own breath. "Married?" She gawked at her friend. "Are you insane? You just met him like an hour ago!"

Mija mostly smiled, scales glinting under the lights. "Not an hour, a few days."

"Two!" Sienna exploded.

Mija shrugged. "Love is a choice, Sienna. You slept with Elias within minutes of meeting him and then married him the second time you met. Your marriage was more rushed than mine."

"Hey!!" Sienna exclaimed. "Don’t say such things around here. We are in a children’s playground for crying out loud!"

Mija shrugged impishly. "Got it, as long as you understand what I mean."

"My circumstances were different." Sienna defended herself.

Mija laughed. "So are ours. Our hearts beat for each other. Our love is measured in heartbeats. How could we deny what we both felt?"

Sienna rubbed her chest. "My heart just skipped three beasts out of sheer disbelief. I am happy for you, as long as this is what you want. But I still think it’s crazy."

Ali skipped over, shouting, "Mama, auntie snake has a husband! Does that man we get to eat cake? Whenever there is a wedding, we eat cake."

Sienna groaned. "Auntie snake got married in secret so there is no cake."

Ali, whose eyes had been glittering when she looked at Mija and her husband, suddenly lost interest in the couple. "Oh," she said in a dull voice.

Mija’s husband swept the little one off her feet and raced her back to the horses. Ali’s excited shrieking was the sign that he was temporarily forgiven for denying her the gift of cake.

"How did she hear us all the way from over there?" Mija muttered.

Sienna did not respond to that question. Instead, she turned her attention to Lord Grace, narrowing her eyes. "Why are you here? Let me make it clear first, my mother is not doing any St.Vitt’s shotgun wedding."

Grace’s smile was warm. "My granddaughter, we are family. I came to give you all some spending money."

Sienna raised her brows. "Be honest."

His smile faded. "Fine. I came to cash in on the operation of capturing Pip and Bib."

Sienna felt so much easier now that he had admitted the truth. Guessing Grace Twindell’s motives was not a game she wanted to play today. "See, isn’t it easier to tell the truth? As long as we are all on the same page, nobody will mess up this operation."

Arnie settled next to Sienna, holding a sleek holo-pad. "We have had our people following them from the moment you stepped foot into the city. They managed to evade Elias’s men and kidnapped a couple. We couldn’t figure out why, until they came to this resort three hours ago, disguised as that couple."

Sienna sneered. "Identity theft, a favorite crime genre of theirs."

The holo-screen flickered to life. Everyone leaned in as if watching a blockbuster movie.

The old couple checked in and then went straight to a luxury boutique. The old woman pretended to faint, collapsing dramatically onto a display of rare silk scarves. While clerks rushed to help, the robots used to monitor seemed to malfunction, attracting the attention of the guards. Meanwhile, the old man stuffed a jeweled hairpin into his sleeve. He dropped a fake one on the ground just as a runaway robot rushed in his direction, and smashed into the counter!

When the couple walked out of the store, nobody noticed anything unusual as they were busy fixing the mess.

Mija burst out laughing. "That fainting act looks exactly like Ali and Cadelaria’s, only better."

Sienna was frowning meanwhile, pondering on the convenient malfunctioning of the robots. Her maternal grandfather had obviously done some hacking.
