Chapter 388: “Have dinner with me tomorrow?” (3)
“Aiya, then you might as well open up a shop and make money that way. I think you should keep running your clothing shop. You can totally look for a new location and open one up. That way that shop can bring in money on top of what you get from Xiuxiu. We are talking about at least 30,000 ~ 40,000 yuan a month! While it sounds good to have your own company but what is the point if you aren’t making any money, am I right?” said Wu Xiuyue as though she was very concerned.
It seemed that Zhang Huaxiu did not share with Wu Xiuyue their income at their shop. Ever since they had swapped to high-end women’s clothing and, after a few promotional activities, they had already gained a fixed set of customers. The shop was doing quite well between the fixed set of customers along with new customers. They brought in around 100,000 yuan a month and Shu Yan’s cut was around 30,000 yuan after deducting costs and other expenses.
“I have no plan to open up another shop for the time being. It takes too much time.” Shu Yan smiled lightly after she took a sip of her tea.
Her company could easily make tens of thousands of yuan per minute. Opening up a shop would be silly.
“Oh, that’s a bummer. Businesses are good right now. If I have your kind of capital, I am going to open up 7 or 8 shops and hire some employees to watch the shops. All I need to do is to visit them daily and have globs of money coming in every month. Oh right. Did you know that Lin Hui, too, had open up a shop?” asked Wu Xiuyue suddenly.
“What’s the matter?”
“She opened up her own shop too, not too far from me. I only found out after her shop had opened up. I mean, she didn’t have to keep that from me. It isn’t like I’d stop her from opening up her own shop. Had I known about it sooner, I totally would have offered up some suggestions. Now that her shop’s open, business isn’t all that good. She is selling 10 or so at most,” said Wu Xiuyue in a sarcastic tone.
Shu Yan raised her brows. She knew about Lin Hui’s shop. She even helped with planning her promotional activities. Unlike Wu Xiuyue, Lin Hui listened to her suggestions. As such, Shu Yan was willing to help her own. Lin Hui was in the area of high-end boutique woman’s clothing. All she needed were 5 – 6 customers a day and she would make a profit.
If she was doing over 10 a day like Wu Xiuyue was saying, Lin Hui probably made more than Wu Xiuyue.
“I don’t know much about it. My company has been quite busy lately.” Shu Yan wasn’t entire lying. Her company had been busy.
Wu Xiuyue smiled, “It’s okay that you find out. I only worry that Lin Hui will lose money. Oh right. Any houses for sale in our area? Now that I have made some money, I am looking into buying a house as well. 90-square-meter ones are good but I have a few generations living with me so I am looking into 120-square-meter ones like yours.”
“It seems you did make quite a bit. I don’t know much about that. You should go talk to Lao Hu. He’s the one that you’ve met when I moved last time. He’s the one who helped me looked for places every time.” Shu Yan rarely wandered around the area and didn’t know a lot of people there. She had no way of obtaining those kinds of information.
“I do alright. Not as wealthy as you are. I can only afford the down payment,” said Wu Xiuyue humbly as she brushed her hair back.
“It’s dinner time.” Mother Zhang came and gathered them around for dinner.
After they had sat down one by one, Chen Fei first scooped out a bowl of rice for Zhang Huaxiu. Never mind that Wu Xiuyue didn’t wait for Chen Fei, she didn’t even wait for her mother- and father-in-law. She picked up her own chopsticks and dived straight into it, not acting like a guest at all.
Mother and Father Zhang didn’t seem surprised by that. It was not the first time she was acting that way.
Shu Yan now understood why Wu Xiuyue had become how she was right now. Her getting a big head was part of the reasons. The other part was the attitude from other family members.
Once’s financial status determined one’s status at home. That is a true statement. When Wu Xiuyue was just a housewife, she wouldn’t even talk loudly. Now she was the one bringing in the most money at home. She was able to sit up straight. Mother Zhang would no longer pick on her nor would she dare to be unhappy with her. In fact, now that they had retired, their daughter-in-law was the primary breadwinner. They more or less fawned over Wu Xiuyue and it made sense that Wu Xiuyue had become arrogant.
