Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling
Chapter 794 Stroke
“It must be your family using the charcoal stove again! You’re the ones who started the fire last time, and now you won’t even admit it! You’re going to pay for my things! Pay up!”
Sprawled on the ground, Mandy York suddenly lunged forward like a madwoman, grabbing and clawing at Silas Golding.
All the items for her son’s wedding had been burned to a crisp, and she had to find someone to pay for them. Silas Golding was Mandy York’s last straw. Whether or not his family had actually started the fire with their charcoal stove, she was dead set on making them pay.
“Pay up… The sewing machine, the cigarettes, the wedding candies, the towels… They’re all gone! Five hundred yuan… If you don’t pay me, I’ll fight you to the death!”
Mandy York clung to Silas Golding, refusing to let go, attacking with the ferocity of a wild animal. Silas Golding was no match for her. Several bloody scratches soon marred his face, and she had torn out clumps of his salt-and-pepper hair.
“It really wasn’t our fault! Why should we have to pay?”
“It *was* your fault, Silas Golding! Your whole family is black-hearted! Your wife was a monster, and your daughter was even worse—that’s why they got what was coming to them! They were both killed by that black-hearted granddaughter of yours! God is watching! The wicked always get what they deserve! If you don’t pay me, you’d better watch out for more divine punishment!”
Mandy York was so enraged she forgot the taboo against hitting people where it hurts most, and her words struck Silas Golding’s rawest nerve.
Silas Golding’s face went white. He never dared to think about his wife and daughter’s deaths, and no one ever mentioned it for fear of upsetting him. After Mandy York’s heart-stabbing words, Silas Golding gasped, unable to catch his breath, and collapsed backward.
“Dad…”
Linden Golding rushed to catch him, but Silas Golding’s face was ashen, his eyes were squeezed shut, and his lips had turned purple. The situation looked dire.
Mandy York was startled, too. ‘I didn’t think he’d be so fragile,’ she thought. ‘I was just telling it like it is. How could this happen?’
“Jim, go get my silver needles! Quickly!”
Byron Thorne came over, and his expression changed the moment he saw Silas. He yelled for his grandson. Jim Thorne didn’t dare hesitate, sprinting home and back in a flash. Byron Thorne took the silver needles and, without bothering to sterilize them, inserted several into Silas Golding’s acupressure points. He squeezed out some dark blood, and Silas Golding groaned. The color returned to his face, but he didn’t wake up.
“Bring the tractor over!” Byron Thorne roared. “We need to get him to the county hospital! He’s had a stroke!”
Byron Thorne’s roar made everyone jump. A stroke could be fatal. Linden Golding was so terrified his legs gave out, and he could barely stand. ‘Mom and my sister are already gone,’ he thought desperately. ‘If anything happens to Dad… I really can’t take it!’
“Stay calm. I just let some of the bad blood out. As long as you get him to the hospital quickly, he should be alright,” Byron Thorne reassured him.
‘He had learned this bloodletting technique from an old traditional Chinese medicine doctor, and it had never failed. Still, he couldn’t guarantee Silas Golding would make a full recovery. It would be a blessing just to save his life.’
Linden Golding looked at Byron Thorne gratefully. “Uncle Byron, I… thank you.”
‘It’s in times of crisis that you see a person’s true character. He used to resent the Thorne family for being too harsh, but now he realized it was his own sister and that black-hearted niece who had gone too far. His sister had already paid the price, but Jacqueline Spann was still out there living it up. If there was any justice from above, that vicious niece of his would meet a horrible end!’
“Hurry to the hospital!”
Byron Thorne patted Linden Golding’s shoulder, glanced again at the unconscious Silas Golding, and let out a sigh.
‘With unfilial children, a family’s fortune can crumble in an instant.’
The tractor was still sputtering to life when Phoebe Huxley’s booming voice drowned it out. “Fourth Uncle, I caught the bastard who set the fire! It’s that animal, Vernon Spann!”
