Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling
Chapter 787: A Hero Saves a Beauty
Feng Ye was the first to notice the fire, but he didn’t pay it much mind. After years of a life steeped in violence, his heart had long since grown cold. He only cared if the people he was fond of lived or died; he wouldn’t even bat an eye if anyone else dropped dead right in front of him.
So, after spotting the fire, Feng Ye continued his leisurely stroll. ‘Someone will notice eventually, once the flames get bigger,’ he thought.
However, after walking for a bit, Feng Ye’s conscience began to prick him. He was a guest in this mountain village, after all. He should at least show the Thorne family some respect. It wouldn’t look good if someone died.
So, Feng Ye decided to call for people to put out the fire. But before he could open his mouth, Vernon Spann shouted, and then the whole village mobilized to fight the blaze.
Feng Ye hesitated for a moment, feeling it was wrong to just stand by and watch. He started to head over to help, but halfway there, he changed his mind. He decided he should go comfort the beauty instead.
‘Something this major happening in the dead of night… the beauty must be terrified. And that little brat Adrian Hawthorne isn’t even home. She’s all alone, with no one to comfort her. I should go see her first. The villagers are more than enough to handle a fire.’
With that, Feng Ye turned around and excitedly headed toward the Hawthorne family’s home. Along the way, he tried to come up with an excuse. ‘What should I say when I see her? I definitely can’t say I came over on purpose; that would be too forward. I’ll just say I was out for an evening stroll and happened to wander nearby. I saw the lights on and thought I’d ask for a cup of tea.’
‘Yes, that’s a good excuse. Polite and proper. It won’t scare her.’
Feng Ye was thoroughly pleased with his own cleverness, completely forgetting that it was midnight. Who goes for a stroll in the middle of the night and knocks on a single woman’s door to ask for tea?
As he got closer to the Hawthorne residence, Feng Ye grew more and more excited, practically floating all the way up the hillside. But his expression quickly darkened when he heard Rosalind Green’s terrified scream. The beauty’s voice sounded absolutely frightened, and it seemed like she was crying.
‘Something’s happened!’
Feng Ye broke into a run, covering the distance in a few long strides and rushing over like a bolt of lightning. The door to the Hawthorne home was wide open. Inside, Rosalind Green was pinned to the floor by three bastards, her clothes in disarray. She was on the verge of being violated.
On the floor nearby lay an unconscious Mrs. Green.
Rage surged through him. A murderous glint flashed in Feng Ye’s eyes. ‘Sons of bitches!’
The thug who was about to make his next move suddenly felt a cold grip on his head. Before he could even react, his body was lifted into the air and thrown outside. He landed hard on the ground with a heavy thud, his head lolling to one side and the whites of his eyes showing as he passed out.
Before the other two thugs could even cry out, Feng Ye sent them flying out the door, one with each kick. They didn’t even have time to grunt before they met the same fate as their leader.
Rosalind Green, who had already fallen into despair, suddenly saw Feng Ye appear like a god descending from the heavens. He took care of the three thugs with swift, effortless ease. Rosalind’s mind was too numb to think, utterly dazed, but she knew her virtue had been saved.
“Don’t be afraid. I’m here,” Feng Ye said softly, afraid of startling Rosalind.
Rosalind stared at him blankly for a long moment before she finally burst into tears. “Thank you…”
If it weren’t for Feng Ye, she truly wouldn’t have been able to go on living. Her father had taught her since childhood that a woman’s virtue was her most important possession—more important than life itself. To live without it was a sin.
So when the three thugs had her pinned down just moments ago, Rosalind had already decided that her only option was to die.
But now, she didn’t have to. Feng Ye had saved her. He was her great savior.
