Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling

Chapter 650: Wanting to Make Clothes

  • Next Chapter

A sudden thought struck Phoenix Golding. ’Even though I never helped the Hawthornes, mother and son, I never went out of my way to bully them either. Compared to that den of thieves, the Thorne family, I’m practically a saint.’

She then said, "Mom, can you go ask that... that kid from the Hawthorne family for me? I have a sewing machine too. Maybe..."

’Not only do I have a sewing machine, but my sewing skills are just as good as Phoebe Huxley’s. I don’t mind working with that bandit woman, as long as I can make money. One yuan a day is even higher than my salary as a teacher!’

Linden’s mother looked troubled and stammered, "I already asked a while ago. That little vixen from the Hawthorne family isn’t the one in charge. She said her son runs the show. So I went and asked that bastard, and he said they’re not short on people right now. He also said... said..."

"Said what?" Phoenix Golding asked urgently. She had a gut feeling it wasn’t anything good, but she still wanted to know.

"Sigh... That bastard is on very good terms with the Thorne family now. He does whatever they tell him to. He said it would be inconvenient for you to work there, that it would affect the other workers."

Linden’s mother was telling the truth, as far as it went. She had already thought of everything Phoenix had, and had not only asked Adrian Hawthorne, but also Preston Thorne and Jethro Golding. But they all gave the same reply: Phoenix Golding should stay home and reflect on her actions instead of going out and making a fool of herself.

She hadn’t dared to repeat those words, afraid her daughter would die of anger.

But even without hearing them, Phoenix Golding was already about to die of anger. She let out a few curses, but the more she swore, the angrier she became, a fire raging in her heart.

Linden’s mother tried to soothe her. "Don’t be angry. The most important thing now is to recover. Once you’re well, I’ll have someone arrange a match for you with a good man. There are still good days ahead!"

Phoenix Golding nodded and asked, "Who wants to buy the sewing machine?"

"Sherman Golding’s family. Their son, Bowman, is getting married next year, isn’t he? They can’t get a voucher for a sewing machine, so they want to buy yours."

Phoenix Golding’s expression froze. She hadn’t expected the buyer to be her own cousin, Sherman Golding, with whom she had been close. Bitterness welled up inside her. ’Even my own cousin is taking advantage of me, only offering a hundred yuan. It’s true what they say: adversity reveals a person’s true character. Just wait until I get back on my feet. I’ll make every single person who bullied me regret it!’

"Sell it. The sooner, the better."

Phoenix Golding had made up her mind. She desperately needed money to buy nutritional supplements to nurse her body back to health. The recent string of injuries had taken a major toll on her.

"I’ll go tell your cousin Sherman right away. They’ll come pick up the sewing machine in a couple of days. You just focus on resting."

Linden’s mother stood up. She had to get home and do her chores, or else her daughter-in-law would go tattling to her husband, who would then yell at her.

Looking around, Linden’s mother frowned, her tone souring. "Where did that little beast get off to?"

’She’s still not back. The pigs in the sty are squealing with hunger, and the chickens won’t stop clucking. There’s not much firewood left in the shed, either. Winter is almost here, and if we don’t stock up on firewood soon, we won’t even be able to cook a proper meal once the weather turns cold.’

Phoenix Golding snorted coldly. "She’s gotten wild now, so of course she doesn’t remember to come home. Mom, you need to hurry up and find a family for her. The deeper in the mountains, the better. Nothing else matters as long as the bride price is high. I get furious just looking at her."

"It’s not that easy. The little beast is only ten years old; she can’t even consummate the marriage. Whoever takes her will just have to raise her for a few years. Most families aren’t willing to do that. I’ll keep looking, don’t worry. I’ll let you know as soon as I have any news."

Linden’s mother was still talking as she headed for the door, where she ran right into Jacqueline Spann. Her eyes widened in a glare, and she pinched the girl hard several times, cursing, "Where the hell have you been? Can’t you see your mother is so sick she can’t even get out of bed? You black-hearted little beast, you’re completely useless! Now tell me, where did all the eggs go? Did you eat them?"
