Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling

Chapter 619: He Must Have a Mistress

  • Next Chapter

Phoebe Thorne was going all out today. ’I have to ruin this bastard’s reputation—it would be best if he gets fired. After all, I never see a cent of that bastard’s salary anyway. If he loses his job, I’ll just take my child back to my parents’ house and work a pedicab. With my own two hands, I’m sure I can make a living.’

"That’s ridiculous! What mistress? My parents are in poor health, and that money is for their medicine," Brian Chapman blustered, his expression panicked, though his voice grew even louder.

Stan returned with the buns—steaming hot pork buns. The director said gently, "Have a bun first. We can’t let the child go hungry."

"Thank you, Director. I’m sorry for all the trouble."

Phoebe Thorne thanked him, feeling embarrassed. ’If I hadn’t been pushed to the brink, I never could have brought myself to cause a scene like this. But Sixth Uncle was right. If I don’t go for broke now, I’ll never be able to take my child and leave.’

"Go on, eat."

The director glanced impassively at Brian Chapman’s ugly expression. ’I remember this employee. I thought he was an honest, decent man, but it turns out he’s a complete scumbag. Rotten to the core.’

’Making his wife support a family of seven, plus a nursing infant, on just twenty yuan a month? He’s practically trying to kill her.’

Several people were peeking in from the doorway. One of them suddenly spoke up. "Brian Chapman’s salary isn’t thirty-eight a month. He got a raise years ago. It’s forty-two, same as mine."

The speaker was a middle-aged man who didn’t get along with Brian Chapman. He couldn’t wait to see Brian get into trouble, so of course, he wasn’t going to miss this chance to snitch on him in front of the director.

Fury surged through Phoebe Thorne. Forgetting all about the bun, she rushed up to Brian Chapman and slapped him hard across the face. "You told me your salary was thirty-eight!" she roared. "You’ve been lying to me this whole time! You definitely have a mistress on the side! You bastard! I hope you die a miserable death! You’re worse than an animal!"

A few of the female colleagues came over to hold Phoebe Thorne back, trying to calm her down with kind words. Inwardly, though, they despised Brian Chapman. ’A man who won’t even hand over his salary? What the hell good is he?’

"It’s because you’re not good to my parents! Obviously, I have to save some money for their medicine. If I gave it all to you, what would happen to them?" Brian Chapman lied through his teeth.

Phoebe Thorne was so furious she saw black. Only now did she realize just how shameless this bastard could be. ’Goldie was right,’ she thought. ’This bastard is rotten to the core. I should have seen it long ago.’

"Brian Chapman, aren’t you afraid of getting struck by lightning for spouting such nonsense? The whole neighborhood can see how I treat your parents! When did I ever stop buying their medicine? The only time I wasn’t there to care for them was these past six months when I went back to my parents’ home to give birth! You’re just slinging mud at me for no reason, you black-hearted beast!"

Phoebe Thorne’s face was pale, and her body trembled violently. It was obvious she had been terribly wronged. Besides, a few people in the office lived near the Chapman family and had heard things. They knew Phoebe Thorne was an extremely capable woman who kept the household running in perfect order. It was Brian Chapman’s parents, on the other hand, who were known for being unreasonable.

’Looks like Brian Chapman is a real piece of work, too.’

Phoebe Thorne took a thick stack of medical reports from her bag—all from her hospital visits—and handed them to the director. "The reason I went back to my parents’ home to give birth was because I had high blood pressure. The doctor told me I needed to rest properly, and I wasn’t eating or sleeping well here. My parents felt bad for me, so they took me in. Brian Chapman sent me twenty yuan a month for living expenses, but my daughter and I have to eat and drink,

I need to keep my nutrition up, and I have to go for hospital check-ups. Twenty yuan is nowhere near enough. My parents have been subsidizing me... Director... now I’m back, and Brian Chapman is *still* only giving me twenty yuan. He even lied to me that his salary was only thirty-eight. He must have a mistress out there. I can’t go on living like this... Director, you have to get me justice!"

The more Phoebe Thorne spoke, the more grief-stricken she became. Finally, she threw all restraint to the wind, covered her face, and burst into loud sobs.
