Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling
Chapter 597: Sherlock Ellie Ashton
Ellie Ashton had wanted to look around some more, but now she was more interested in the mysterious, beautiful woman and urged them to head back.
Adrian Hawthorne was already back, waiting for them in the room. His expression was a little heavy, as if something was weighing on his mind. He had gone to Crazy Feng’s warehouse today and run into a beautiful, unfamiliar woman.
Judging from the conversation between the woman and the few men guarding the warehouse, she was clearly a regular customer. Moreover, Adrian Hawthorne sensed that Ace and the others seemed to be deliberately hiding something. Their tone and expressions were strange, and Adrian had a gut feeling it had something to do with him.
He became interested in the woman’s identity, but Crazy Feng would never reveal a client’s information. Every trade has its rules, and Crazy Feng wouldn’t break taboo.
"Let me tell you, Xiao’nan ran into a strange woman today. Said she’s your mom’s enemy and is looking for you and your mom. Isn’t that hilarious?" Jim Thorne hollered the moment he entered the room. He still didn’t believe his sister’s words. ’The world isn’t full of such coincidences.’
Tang Xiao’nan shot him an annoyed glare. "It’s not hilarious at all! I heard it crystal clear! That lady said she left Tristone eight years ago, brought a son with her, that her son is twelve years old this year, and that her name is Rosalind Green! She even told those people to search in Wraven, Aurelia, and Vessaria! She’s obviously talking about Mr. Hawthorne and Aunt Green!"
Adrian Hawthorne’s expression changed slightly. He asked urgently, "Where did you hear this?"
"I heard it at the post office when she was on the phone. That lady is definitely not a good person. Her laugh was so scary, just like a ghost!"
Tang Xiao’nan exaggerated a bit to make Adrian Hawthorne take it seriously. She recounted in detail what the woman had said on the phone, and everyone’s expression turned grim. It did indeed sound like Adrian Hawthorne and his mother.
"When one woman pays special attention to another, there’s only one possibility." Ellie Ashton spoke with certainty, and even supplied the answer herself. "Only a messy love affair makes a woman go after another woman. Assuming the Rosalind Green this woman is looking for really is Adrian Hawthorne’s mother, then this woman must be Adrian Hawthorne’s father’s mistress. She wants to get rid of the original wife and become Adrian’s stepmother."
Ellie Ashton then shook her head and said to Adrian Hawthorne, "There’s another possibility. This woman might want to get rid of you as well. A stepson is never as good as one’s own flesh and blood. That way, your father and all his assets would belong to her."
The stuffy room suddenly felt bone-chillingly cold. The ceiling fan whirred with a CLACK-CLACK-CLACK, the sound seeming particularly eerie. Tang Xiao’nan couldn’t help but shiver and grabbed Jim Thorne’s arm. All this talk was getting scary.
Seeing that no one was saying a word, Ellie Ashton thought they didn’t believe her and said, "There are many cases of crimes of passion. Let me tell you, when a woman goes crazy, it’s terrifying. If she’s really looking for you and your mom, you’d better be careful. But why don’t you and your mother live with your father?"
Ellie Ashton was reminding Adrian Hawthorne that she wasn’t just trying to scare them. Her uncle had previously handled criminal cases in Capria and had dealt with many bizarre homicide cases. Generally speaking, there were no more than three motives for murder: for money, for love, or an attack of insanity. And for female perpetrators, the most likely motive was love.
Adrian Hawthorne’s brow furrowed. He didn’t answer Ellie Ashton’s question. It was something he couldn’t explain, nor did he want to. He was more curious about the woman’s identity.
"Was the woman wearing a green dress with white polka dots? Did she have big, wavy curls? And was she wearing makeup?"
Tang Xiao’nan’s eyes widened in surprise. "You know her?"
Adrian Hawthorne shook his head, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. He had a good idea now of who that woman was.
