Transmigrated As The Hired Villain in a Fantasy World
Chapter 219 Fantastic.
Chapter 219: 219 Fantastic.
Something most people failed to remember about transmigrators was that the person who had the body before them had a life.
And as such had friends, families, businesses and acquiantances.
And that was here I was fucked. Remember Chapter one where the "crazy" Latina heaved a knife at my head.
Meet Vanessa, the daughter of The Jester. Who I was supposed to get in contact with again, and apparently who the former Miles had cheated on—severally.
But that was years ago. I didn’t have all the information but I’d remember her... features anytime anyday.
Beautiful lady as any others but I would’ve never picked her to be a heroine, typically because it required a lot of nimbleness, and Vanessa was blessed with what could only be described as mommy milkers.
Getting in contact with Vanessa was going to be a problem, obviously.
I mean, she blocked me but, there were a few obvious solutions to get her attention, such as figuring out her patrol route and causing a disturbance in the hopes she’d show up, but that kind of thing could be messy.
Not to mention have the chance to badly misfire and blow up in my face.
Likewise, having Rhea track her down using satellites or whatnot and then having me ’coincidentally’ encountering her was a bit better, but still very awkward.
No. If I wanted to get this done right, then I was going to have to be civil about it.
Fortunately, I had a few more options now, and a few heroes who owed me big.
Back in the sitting room, I took out my cell and made a call, hoping that Khonsu hadn’t changed his number since last time.
Fortunately, he probably had much bigger things on the mind, because after a few rings I heard the hero’s crisp, professional voice. "Moon Avatar speaking."
"Hi, Finn. It’s Miles," I said, trying to inject as much friendliness as I could into my voice.
I heard a heavy sigh, which wasn’t too surprising. The last few times he’d gotten involved with me hadn’t exactly been great.
But he didn’t instantly hang up on me either, so that was good. "Polaris," he said. "What is it you want?"
"Nothing big, I promise," I assured him quickly. "Look, do you know the hero Hex?"
"I am acquainted," he said.
"Great. I need to arrange a meeting."
I could hear the frown in Khonsu’s tone. "What business do you have with her?"
"It’s work related. Professional menacing. That’s all. I just need to touch base with her."
"No." He said coldly. "This is highly suspicious."
I ran a hand through my hair. "I know. I know," I said. "But look, I wouldn’t be asking you if it wasn’t important. Right? I know you have your hands full."
The silence stretched on as she thought. Come on, Finn. You owed me. Don’t make me have to fucking say it.
"Very well," she finally said.
I breathed out in relief. "Thank you."
"But Mystic will be there to mediate."
All the tension rushed right back into me. "What? Uh, no. She does’nt have to do that."
"Look. It isn’t about you or her. The BSA is in shambles right now." I could hear the tired in his voice. "I’ve been in more meetings with the UN and other governmental bodies these past two weeks than I can handle—"
"And why can’t the others help you?"
"Because!" He was about to crack before he caught himself. "Mister Invincible never wanted to be a hero in the first place so we settled him out of court—"
"Settled him for what?"
"The mind control unfortunately. Whether we like it or not, Micheal was a part of the BSA and so were his motives. Rick’s out and started a shop or something.
"Cloudfire’s PR team at Cloudary advised him to distance from the BSA while he ’work on himself’ but he’s still part of the group since he doesn’t want his shares to drop.
"Extraordinary’s always been here and not here. He clearly doesn’t like subpoenas because conveniently anytime one shows up he ’unfortunately’ has ’business’ in another planet.
"But Mystic is hanging by a thread. She doesn’t know if she wants to be a hero or not. She’s not been answering an distresses, she’s basically showing up like it’s an office job she’s doing for the bills."
"Yeah, man." I said finally after his crash out. "But what does this have to do with me?"
"Piss her off. Antagonise her verbally, make her annoyed about villains or feel joy about heroes, whatever works, as long as she gets back to whatever middle we can have her at.
"The Bureau was formed by five, and I wasn’t even supposed to be part of that five. And now we’re down to three halves and a very stressed out one." Unexpectedly, the line went silent. "I need your help, Miles."
Aw hell. But there was no getting around that tone. And he wasn’t the sort of friend who begged. Dammit.
This was going to be a massive pain in the ass. Though, then again, it might work to my benefit.
Having Mystic to vouch for my character might be handy.
Which was a pretty big ’might,’ seeing as last time I saw her I’d beaten up her teammates and pinned the blame on them for blowing up a precinct.
But I’d also saved her from a psychic dickbag, so who knows. Maybe her opinion of me had improved.
"Alright. Fine. But you owe me for this man," I said.
"Yes, well. Some debts need to be repaid," he said.
I winced. He didn’t have to actually say it. Though I could respect a straight shooter. "Give me a call when you have a time," I said.
"Of course."
He hung up and I let the phone down to dangle from my fingertips. I sighed, sagging into the easy chair. This was going to be a hell of a job, I could already tell.
"Trouble, bossman?"
I looked up to find Psyren leaning against the door, arms crossed and smirk light on her lips. "No more than usual," I said.
"Aw, don’t be like that," she said, sauntering into the room. "You can handle anything the world throws at you! I should know."
"Should you?" I said, amused despite my frustration.
Psyren giggled. "Sure thing, bossman. Because I just know you’ve got everything under control," she said, moving up behind me. I turned my head to watch her. What was the game she was playing now? Not that it was really much of a question. I could see the neon hearts glowing in her pupils, and then her hands gently went to my shoulders, beginning to squeeze.
"Mmm," I groaned, her touch kneading out the tension. "That’s... not bad..."
"I’m a girl with lots of skills, boss," Psyren teased. "You didn’t think I was just another pretty face, did you?"
"Never," I said.
"Though I do have that too," Psyren cooed, her fingers kneading like a master baker’s. "And perfect tits. A classy style. A great taste in clothes. And best of all, a fantastic personality."
"Is that right?" I said, sinking back further into the chair.
"Don’t I, though?"
"Depends," you say.
"On?"
"On what it’s fantastic for."
Psyren giggled impishly, and I felt her hair brush my neck as she leaned in, her breath ghostly, sending shivers down my spine and to my toes. "Want to find out, bossman?"
