“Megan, are you serious about teaching at Trillium University? With your qualifications, you could have easily stayed in Argent. Why did you come all the way to Jansburg?”

“I’ve made up my mind.” Megan Langdon nodded, offering only a faint smile in response to Vera Fairchild’s question.

“Well, that’s good too. We can see each other often now. My brother is also at Trillium University, so you two will be colleagues.”

“It’s been a while since I’ve seen Leo, too.”

“I’ll let you in on a secret. My brother has been single all these years. Not a single girlfriend.”

“Is that so?” Megan Langdon gave an awkward laugh.

She hadn’t come to Jansburg for Leo Fairchild, but for his uncle, Evan Fairchild.

The only entertainment company Evan Fairchild had established since returning to the country was in Jansburg.

Moreover, she’d heard that Evan Fairchild was often in Jansburg.

“Miss Fairchild, what do you think of these? They’re all our latest styles.” The sales associate waited on them respectfully.

Melody Monroe and Rose Shaw walked in, and a sales associate immediately recognized her.

“It’s Melody Monroe!”

“Oh my god, it really is Melody Monroe!”

The commotion also caught the attention of Vera Fairchild and Megan Langdon, who were browsing for jewelry.

“Megan, I’ll let you in on a secret. This Melody Monroe is the one rumored to be dating my younger uncle! No wonder he’s finally showing some interest—she’s gorgeous.”

Hearing this, Megan Langdon’s face paled slightly. She glanced in Melody Monroe’s direction and was instantly overcome with a sense of inferiority. Recalling how Evan Fairchild had called her ugly, she felt her cheeks burn even hotter.

‘Melody Monroe is just too beautiful. Even as a woman, I can’t seem to look away.’

“Melody, can I get a photo with you? Could you sign an autograph for me?”

“Of course.” Melody Monroe nodded.

Vera Fairchild kept her eyes on Melody Monroe, nudging the distracted Megan Langdon with her shoulder. “She doesn’t seem to put on any airs; she’s pretty easygoing. I wonder if my old-tree uncle is finally about to bloom and see his spring?”

“You like Melody Monroe too?”

“I never follow celebrities. I’m just paying special attention because of the rumors about her and my younger uncle.”

“Your younger uncle… is he really with her?”

“Who knows? But anyway, based on what I know about my uncle, his recent moves have been pretty wild. It’s starting to feel like a sure thing.”

After hearing this, all the color drained from Megan Langdon’s face. Her hand tightened on her purse, and a flash of jealousy flickered deep in her eyes.

‘An actress… no matter how beautiful, she’s nothing but a pretty shell. Is Melody Monroe even worthy of Evan Fairchild?’

‘With a status like hers, Melody Monroe will never be able to marry into the Fairchild Family!’

Melody Monroe felt a gaze on her, and when she turned her head, her eyes met Megan Langdon’s.

Megan Langdon immediately looked away.

Vera Fairchild, however, was much more open. Seeing Melody Monroe look in their direction, she raised a hand to wave hello.

“Vera, are you done choosing?” Megan Langdon felt extremely uncomfortable and didn’t want to stay a moment longer.

She had heard the rumors about Evan Fairchild and Melody Monroe but had never believed they were true. Plenty of starlets had been rumored to be with Evan Fairchild, and none of them had ever truly been in a relationship with him.

But the rumors with Melody Monroe seemed different from the ones before.
