Chapter 540: A Small Accident

Lana Sheffield held the microphone, looking tenderly at her son in Mrs. Sheffield’s arms. "When I was giving birth to Elijah, there was a small accident that caused him to be born prematurely. Thankfully, he was out of danger and came to my side, into this world, safe and sound."

"Thank you all again for coming to the banquet. I hope you all eat, drink, and be merry!"

The banquet officially began. On the large electronic screens facing the guests, photos of Elijah Sterling scrolled by.

Suddenly, the bustling banquet hall fell silent.

Those who didn’t know what was happening all looked up, only to see some people staring at the big screen, their faces filled with shock!

The child on the screen had changed to someone else—a boy who looked to be about three or four years old.

"Ian!" Melody Monroe exclaimed in shock, abruptly standing up.

Keith Coleman pulled her back down into her seat.

Melody’s heart felt like it was being squeezed as she stared intently at the big screen.

"What’s going on?" Lana Sheffield quickly stood up and demanded of the staff.

Everyone grew even more confused. How could even Lana Sheffield not know what was happening?

"Who is this child?"

"He’s so beautiful!"

"He’s so cute! I just want to snatch him up!"

"Yeah, I’m tempted to commit a crime!"

Listening to the crowd’s chatter, a flicker of disgust flashed through Lana Sheffield’s eyes. ’Are these people serious? Shouldn’t they be focused on who this child is?’

"AHHHH! Seeing this kid makes me want to get married all of a sudden! Who cares about a husband? I just want a son this gorgeous!"

"That person... is that Melody Monroe?"

"I think so!"

"What’s her relationship to this child?"

"Is he a child actor she worked with?"

Lana Sheffield was about to die from anger listening to the gossip. She shot Eileen Scott a look.

"Melody Monroe! This is my cousin’s baby’s full moon banquet! Why are they showing pictures of your son? What are you trying to pull?"

"Oh my god! That’s Melody Monroe’s son?"

"But isn’t Melody Monroe unmarried? Where did the son come from?"

"A love child?! Could it be... that the child is Melody’s and Christopher Sterling’s? So Melody Monroe and Christopher Sterling really are having an affair!"

Lana Sheffield was truly in awe of these people’s wild imaginations. How did they drag Christopher Sterling into this!

Then again, showing photos of Melody and her child at a time like this really did invite speculation, instantly conjuring up a whole melodrama.

Melody had Christopher Sterling’s child, but Christopher married Lana Sheffield. Melody, bitter and unwilling to accept it, decided to cause a scene at this banquet.

To reveal the child to the public.

It all made perfect sense!

"How could that child possibly be my brother-in-law’s! Who knows where she got knocked up with that bastard! The kid is already this old, from before Melody even debuted or signed with Stellaris! I heard that back when Melody was pregnant with this child, she was latching onto President Scott!"

"President Scott? You mean Jedediah Scott?"

"Probably, right? Eileen Scott is just distantly related to Jedediah Scott."

At that moment, all eyes were on Melody Monroe, everyone looking like they were settling in to watch a good show.

Lana Sheffield looked at the media members at the banquet and noticed they were just sitting amongst the crowd, completely still. Some hadn’t even taken their lens caps off!

’With a scoop this huge, shouldn’t they be scrambling to get a shot?’

’Why is every single one of them so unfazed!’

Keith Coleman arrived at the equipment room. The two people in the control room immediately stood up.

"Who are you?"

"The machine has a virus, doesn’t it?" Keith Coleman asked with a smile.

"Y-yes," the two of them replied, looking guilty.

"I can fix it."
