Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year
Chapter 461 - 459: Teach Your Own Wife
Half an hour later, Melody Monroe and Evan Fairchild walked downstairs together.
Ian Monroe had already finished eating and had taken Bunny out to the back garden for a walk.
Melody Monroe was already hungry. She had just picked up her chopsticks when her phone rang.
"Jasper Rockwell?" Melody Monroe said in surprise, looking at the caller ID.
The call connected, and Jasper Rockwell’s voice came through. "Melody, are you in Rockwellburg?"
"Yeah, I’m in Rockwellburg."
"That’s great! Zane Langdon and I are in a motorcycle exhibition race together. It’s the day after tomorrow, and the track is right here in the suburbs of Rockwellburg. Can you come watch? I’ll get you a ticket."
"Mr. Langdon is in the race too? Did Sean Coleman approve?" Melody Monroe asked, thinking she must have misheard.
"Sean Coleman approved, so you have to come cheer us on."
"Okay. Where’s the race? Just send me the location."
"You got it! I’ll have the ticket ready. Just call me when you get there, and I’ll get you in."
"Okay, I’m hanging up. See you the day after tomorrow."
Melody Monroe put her phone aside and said to Evan Fairchild, "Jasper Rockwell and Mr. Langdon are in an exhibition race together. He invited me to go watch."
"How come he didn’t invite me?"
"He probably figured you wouldn’t be interested, so he didn’t dare to ask?" Melody Monroe replied in a low voice.
’To be honest, she didn’t really want Evan to go, either.’
’There were already rumors about them spreading online. She absolutely didn’t want the public to find out about her relationship with Evan Fairchild right now.’
’If people found out about her and Evan, the Fairchild Family would find out too.’
’The Fairchilds probably wouldn’t accept someone of her background marrying Evan. More importantly, she didn’t want the plot of the original novel to play out in her own life.’
"I can go with you."
"No, it’s fine. You’re so busy, and it would take up a lot of your time," Melody Monroe quickly dissuaded him.
"You’re just afraid of people seeing us together, aren’t you?" Evan Fairchild’s tone was laced with jealousy.
"Then I won’t go either, okay?"
"I have an important meeting the day after tomorrow anyway. I can’t spare the time."
Melody Monroe smiled and hugged Evan Fairchild’s arm. "Honey, I knew it! You’re the best!"
’She was discovering that being a little coquettish with Evan was a surefire way to get what she wanted. And she was getting better and better at it.’
’To think she’d always been a tomboy, practically made of steel and concrete!’
After dinner, Evan Fairchild took Melody Monroe to the study.
He picked out a few types of practice problems to give Melody Monroe a diagnostic test and gauge her actual level.
Melody Monroe’s performance exceeded his expectations.
’Could it be she’d started studying hard a while ago? There was no other way she could be at this level. It was the only logical explanation, yet he couldn’t shake a strange feeling that lingered at the bottom of his heart.’
’Today’s session made him completely scrap the idea of hiring a tutor for her.’
’Besides, teaching his own wife was much more fun.’
...
The exhibition race was held in the suburbs of Rockwellburg, which boasted the most professional racetrack in the country. This particular exhibition race was the most heavily attended event of the year.
The entry requirements for the exhibition race weren’t as high as those for professional competitions.
Any motorcycle enthusiast could sign up for the race.
Melody Monroe came to watch the race with Winter Kane and Talia Mercer. The moment the three of them got out of the car, they saw a surging sea of people ahead—a dense, dark mass.
"So many people! How are we going to get through?"
"It’s probably because Zane Langdon is racing, right?" Melody Monroe guessed, looking at the dark sea of people ahead.
