Transmigrated As A Stepdad In A Fantasy Doujin World
Chapter 41. A Dark Promise
Chapter 41: 41. A Dark Promise
The shadows of the West Dungeon swallowed the party as they stepped past the heavy stone archway.
Dust motes drifted in the dim luminescent glow of moss on the cavern walls.
Dean led with his shield raised while Ryn kept his sword ready, eyes scanning the rocky corridors.
A low growl rolled from the gloom.
Three E-rank Dire Hounds burst out, red eyes gleaming as they lunged toward the center of the group.
Dean braced, but Kael was already moving. He glided past Dean’s flank with precise footsteps.
His iron blade flashed three times in clean succession.
Crimson sprayed across the floor as the hounds collapsed dead before they fully hit the ground.
Kael felt a subtle drag in his power as the last beast fell.
The sword work had been accurate, yet the mana in his channels remained a sluggish trickle limited by his current body.
’My techniques are refined, but this body’s mana pool is pathetic,’ he thought coldly.
’I need a mana expansion skill soon or higher spells will choke me mid-combat.’
Dean stood frozen for a moment. Ryn blinked in surprise.
Tina and Brianna stared with wide eyes. None had expected that level of clean lethality from him.
"Clean work," Dean said, recovering with an appreciative nod.
"Looks like you know how to handle that blade."
The party pushed deeper. Kael moved with the same calculated style through cavern crawlers and stone gargoyles.
They reached the final chamber where a hulking Stone-Clad Golem waited, its rocky armor glowing with internal power.
The team coordinated without many words. Ryn harried the beast with precise sword strikes. Dean absorbed the heavy slams.
Brianna and Tina cracked the armor with magic and blows.
Kael slipped into the blind spot at the right moment and drove his blade into the glowing core crystal but the core didn’t break.
Then Dean came and punched it with a mana infused punch.
The golem collapsed into lifeless rubble.
The dungeon was cleared.
Over the hours in the tunnels Kael had drawn closer to Tina and Brianna through subtle brushes of the shoulder, lingering glances, and brief touches during rests.
A thick undercurrent now ran between them.
After gathering the loot they headed back toward the exit.
Dean and Ryn walked ahead discussing the rewards.
Kael matched pace with Tina. Her fitted leather armor shifted with each step.
Dark skin still carried a warm flush, but her crimson eyes stayed downcast.
She stopped near a quiet bend, out of sight from the others.
Kael paused beside her. "Something on your mind, Tina?"
Tina bit her lower lip, fingers tight on her bow. Her voice stayed low.
"Kael... we need to stop."
"Stop what?"
"This... whatever is happening between us," she said, finally looking at him.
"I cannot keep letting you touch me like this. I am going to marry Ryn soon. He comes from a noble line. If he finds out there will be a huge problem for both of us."
Kael studied her face. "Do you really love him?"
Tina hesitated.
"I... do not know. It is an arrangement. Love does not really matter for things like this."
Kael stepped closer until her chest nearly brushed his. He activated his Pheromone skill with a quiet thought.
A sweet intoxicating aura washed over her.
Tina’s breath caught. Pupils dilated as heat rushed straight to her core.
Her knees trembled. Her body remembered his hands and the pull he carried. Her pussy throbbed with a slick burning ache.
Kael leaned close to her pointed ear, voice low and smooth.
"Do you like me, Tina? Do you feel your pussy throbbing when you are near me? Your ass gape twitching thinking about my cock in your holes?"
"I..." The words dissolved as he moved in.
He tangled his fingers in her dark hair and kissed her hard. Tina gasped into his mouth.
His tongue claimed hers without hesitation. She gripped his shoulders to stay upright as her body surrendered.
He deepened the kiss until her breathing turned ragged.
When he pulled away a thin thread of saliva stretched between them.
Tina leaned her forehead against his chest, cheeks flushed deep red, breath coming in short hitches.
A few yards back Brianna had paused.
Her green eyes widened as she caught the end of the scene: Kael’s hand in Tina’s hair and the dark elf clinging to him. Jealousy flared sharp in her chest.
Her jaw clenched while her own cunt throbbed in protest.
Ahead, Ryn and Dean kept walking, unaware.
"We should hit the guild bar after we turn in the cores," Dean said, clapping Ryn on the shoulder.
"First round is on me."
"Sounds good," Ryn replied. "I need a heavy meal after that golem."
Kael looked down at Tina’s trembling form with a subtle cold smile.
Later that afternoon the courtyard behind the Crimson Path house felt tense.
The party gathered on the packed-dirt sparring ring.
Kael stood at the center with a blunted steel longsword over one shoulder.
Across from him Ryn adjusted his wristguards, posture full of noble confidence.
"A sparring match?" Ryn chuckled, twirling a practice blade.
"I appreciate the enthusiasm, but do not expect me to hold back. Noble martial arts are not the same as street fighting."
Kael’s face stayed unreadable.
"Simple rules. Pure sword technique. No mana, no body reinforcement. Just skill against skill."
"Fine by me. Try to last more than three exchanges."
Dean leaned against a pillar with a mug.
Tina and Brianna watched from a few paces back.
Tina’s eyes darted between Kael and her fiancé.
Brianna kept her jaw tight, green eyes locked on Kael.
"Begin!" Dean called.
Ryn lunged with a fast straight thrust.
Kael did not flinch. A subtle pivot let the blade glide past his cheek. He parried cleanly and swept his own tip toward Ryn’s neck.
Ryn threw himself backward, boots kicking up dirt.
"Not bad," he grunted, smile fading.
For several minutes Kael dominated with refined sword mastery. Every strike met a low-effort parry or precise deflection.
Kael moved like a ghost, parrying every one of Ryn’s attacks with effortless precision while constantly pressing down on him, yet the physical limitations of his low-ranked body kept him from landing a decisive hit as Ryn’s fiancée watched on, driving the young noble into a wave of frustration.
Sweat beaded on Ryn’s forehead. Frustration boiled over.
He was a noble trained by high-tier masters, yet a common ranker who had not broken a sweat was toying with him.
"Dammit!" Ryn spat.
He broke the agreement. Blue mana surged around his arms and blade. He unleashed a heavy mana-infused slash that kicked up dust across the ring.
CLANG!
Kael met the strike with his unreinforced sword. The gap in raw power hit like a battering ram. The force drove him back several paces, boots tearing grooves in the dirt as his arms numbed.
"What is the matter, Kael?" Ryn mocked, blade still glowing.
"Cannot keep up when real power is involved? You commoners always think technique is enough. You are nothing compared to true nobility."
Kael reset his stance, face blank as he suppressed the pain in his wrists.
’He broke the rules the second his pride took a scratch,’ he noted coldly.
’His mana output is leagues above this vessel’s current threshold.’
Ryn stepped closer and leaned in with a low vicious whisper.
"Look at you. Pathetic. Do you honestly think someone like you will ever get the chance to be a permanent member of this team? You’re nothing but a temporary placeholder. A absolute nobody.
Once I surpass that vampire bitch, I’m going to claim both of your daughters as my personal, obedient little sex slaves though you don’t need to worry, I’ll make sure to train them very well."
A sharp dark heat flared in Kael’s chest, yet his expression did not shift.
He kept his breathing steady while he was impressed a little by his sudden change in demeanor.
’It seems he hid his intentions very well in front of Tina. Talking to me like a friend in the morning and now treating me like dirt as his noble lineage are showing its true color.’
Ryn swung again with full mana force.
BOOM!
The impact blew Kael backward. He skidded across the dirt until his shoulder slammed into the outer wooden fence.
"Enough!" Tina cried, stepping between them. Her dark skin flushed with anger.
"Ryn, stop it! You used mana! That was not part of the match!"
Ryn dissipated his mana and smoothed his hair with a confident chuckle.
"Relax, Tina. I was just giving him a reality check. Dungeon crawling takes real strength, not flashy footwork."
Brianna rushed over, green hands steadying Kael. Her eyes held concern mixed with clear anger toward Ryn. "Are you all right?"
Kael pushed himself up and brushed the dust from his chest. He looked past both women and met Ryn’s triumphant gaze.
Beneath the calm exterior a dark promise took root.
’I only thought about snatching your wife,’ he thought, eyes narrowing into cold slits.
’Now I will not just snatch her. I will make her crazy for my dick while she marries you. You will never get to fuck her. I will fuck her while you sleep every night, dreaming you are the one inside your wife, until that dream turns and the one doing the fucking is your own friend Dean. How dare you put your eyes on my stepdaughters.’
Kael straightened his collar and gave Ryn a brief polite nod that hid everything behind his eyes.
"Good match," he said smoothly.
"You really showed me the gap in our power."
