Aylin crossed out the answer before the remembered question finished opening.

She stood beyond the observer line with the slate against one forearm. Room two showed her earlier hand beside Jiang’s first controlled reversion, stopped outside contact. The archive carried the question and the scoped answer that had followed it.

Neither belonged to this morning.

Jiang accepted the pressure test.

Room two widened. The old outline settled over him from shoulders to hips, tall enough that its feet extended beyond his tail and its chest occupied empty space above his back.

Aylin lowered the slate. "Not while a wall is trying to answer for us."
