Transform into a magical girl after getting off work

Chapter 745 - 280: The Truth of War (2)

She knew that saving a life at this point could never heal the wounds left by the war, but even so, it wasn't a reason to stand idly by.

So she mustered all her strength, raising her voice desperately and shouted angrily at the girl who looked like a fairy:

"Stop!"

Finally, this time, her words reached the other party.

The fairy-like girl didn't continue to reach for the Magical Girl's Heart's Gem, but looked curiously in Cornflower's direction. Upon discovering that it was a Magical Girl calling out to her, she revealed an inexplicable expression and then glanced at the girl behind Cornflower.

"You look even more lively than I imagined."

The girl behind Cornflower remarked with a touch of sentiment, her tone devoid of any discernible emotion.

But immediately, Cornflower felt a tremendous force from behind her, flipping her over on the ground.

"But, sorry."

The girl behind her said, "What you saw might cause trouble if spoken out, so I can only ask of you, like the child over there, to die."

"Cough cough... cough..."

Cornflower felt her vision going dark and couldn't help but cough.

If she still had a sliver of fighting power left, she would definitely give this arrogant guy a sound beating.

But even her true form was on the verge of dissolution, too weak to stand up again; she felt she would faint just by closing her eyes.

Even so, falling unconscious at this moment wouldn't just mean losing her life but would also prevent her from saving her teammate who's about to perish.

So Cornflower used her hand to support herself on the scorched ground.

Don't stop, don't faint.

She kept repeating these words in her mind like a self-hypnosis, and surprisingly, she managed to squeeze out a bit of strength, slowly lifting her head again.

Then, something sharp pressed against her back.

"That's enough, you can close your eyes now."

The fairy behind her said, "His Majesty won't forget your contributions, your sacrifice will lead the Kingdom to a bright future."

Cornflower's actions halted.

Not because death was near, but because of those two words from the other one's mouth.

——"His Majesty" and "Kingdom."

"What are you... talking about?"

Her mind went blank at that moment, she completely couldn't understand the current situation.

Why were these beings, who looked like fairies, saying "for the Kingdom"?

Aren't they from the interworld?

Aren't they the enemy's backup?

If that's the case, why are they here slaughtering the Kingdom's wounded?

All belong to the Kingdom, shouldn't they save their companions...

"Just cleaning the garden damaged by pests for the master."

Almost as if guessing what Cornflower was thinking, the girl behind her explained: "Don't worry, those pests from the interworld have all been cleaned up already, you are the last batch to be dealt with."

"If you understand, just be a bit obedient, I don't want to hurt you. Be obedient, it's just like having a dream."

As she said this, the sharp object pressed against Cornflower's back began to exert more force, yet Cornflower merely lowered her head without saying a word.

She was thinking.

Even though thinking seemed useless at the moment, she still tried to make sense of it all.

Until her magic body was pierced, until the sharp object approached the weak magic source.

Cornflower closed her eyes.

"So... that's how it is."

The anger that had already extinguished, that had no source to rekindle, once again flared up from within her heart.

The anger that should have dissipated with the defeat of Bee Apostle, should have vanished with the collapse of the interworld army, flared furiously, fueled by a heart nearly turned to ashes.

The Heart's Gem, originally just split by a crack across the center, began to disperse with more fine cracks on the surface. As the cracks increased, Cornflower's body, supposedly exhausted of magic power, began to show waves of magic power once more.

Her body, like the Heart's Gem, started to manifest more cracks, akin to a shattered porcelain doll.

She was shattering her body and true form.

In this Magic Kingdom where all things are composed of magic power, the body and soul are naturally made of magic power.

Since no more magic could be squeezed out, since death was imminent, then shatter the body and soul, transform them into magic power.

This is what Cornflower is doing now.

But this is not something a normal Magical Girl could do.

No, not even a magical girl. Regardless of how much courage and endurance it requires, from a physiological perspective, this isn't something a being can do.

Just as humans in the Material Realm cannot hold their breath to the point of dying—the body will inevitably faint before death from suffocation—a magic body has the same self-protection mechanism.

Neither Magical Girls, fairies, nor Remnant Beasts could achieve such a feat of surpassing physiological mechanisms, relying on no extra means but subjective will to shatter themselves into magic power.

But Cornflower did it.

To achieve all of this, all one needs is anger.

Blue magic power seemed to spill like flames from the cracks of the magic body, and as the body shattered more, the magic color shifted from blue to white.

The gemstone's dark blue color also changed as the cracks increased, becoming paler until it approached white.
