【Different Perspective】

"...Hey, not again?"

In an empty lecture room, Rox muttered that in an irritated tone. Felter snorted in response.

"...Someone comes calling every week. This is nothing new."

Felter said that in a low voice, and Rox clicked his tongue loudly.

"What a pain... In the first place, what do people who don't even know Aoi, know about marriage?"

Rox muttered under his breath, and the ears atop Felter's head twitched slightly, but he said nothing.

At that moment, the lecture room door opened from outside, and both of their eyes turned toward it at the same time.

It was Cote. Cote looked at the two of them and smiled awkwardly.

"Ah, there you were. I finally found you."

As Cote said that and entered, Rox narrowed his eyes sharply, making no effort to hide his displeasure.

"...What do you want."

Rox asked brusquely, but Cote showed no sign of being bothered and approached with a smile.

"Well, we have a bit of a problem... Would you mind hearing me out?"

"...You're an odd one. I'll hear you out, that's all. Go ahead."

Cote brushed off Rox's hostile tone completely, and Rox sighed and asked again. Cote placed one hand on his hip and waved the other lightly.

"I received word from Cote Highlands that two council members want to enroll their sons in the academy, so I am processing the paperwork. However, these two council members' sons appear to be quite a bit older than me... I suspect this is another one of those patterns."

Cote said that with a wry smile, and Rox slumped his shoulders and let out a deep sigh. Exhaling softly in agreement, Cote looked at the two of them.

"...I have not received any such offers myself so far, but what about you two? Both of you are princes and sons of high-ranking nobles. Have you received similar proposals?"

"...Not really."

Rox answered Cote's question, and then the gaze turned to Felter.

"Felter-san, what about you?"

Cote narrowed his eyes and asked, and Felter shifted slightly and returned the gaze.

"...My family told me to bring Aoi home as a bride, but I have not given them an answer."

When Felter said that, Rox widened his eyes in surprise.

"Wh-what did you say!?"

At Rox's shock, Felter pursed his lips and fell silent. Seeing that, Cote furrowed his brows and scratched his cheek.

"I imagine my father feels the same way. I have not received any direct orders regarding such a political marriage, but I have received letters saying they would be delighted if Aoi-sensei came to Cote Highlands."

After saying that, Cote glanced at Rox.

"...Has His Majesty Middleton said anything in particular?"

When Cote asked again, Rox seemed reluctant to answer and crossed his arms, hesitating. After a moment of thought, he finally answered without raising his head.

"...My mother ordered me to win the fight for Aoi at all costs. That was just last week."

Rox said that, and Cote and Felter could not help but exchange glances.

"...A fight?"

"...Is that why you have been driving away marriage applicants from other countries?"

Cote and Felter asked back simultaneously, and Rox flushed bright red and shouted.

"Y-you idiots! As if that's the case!"

At the enraged Rox, Cote smiled and shrugged.

"Denying it so loudly makes it sound like a lie."

"You want me to knock you flying!?"

When Cote said something skeptical, Rox stood up and threatened him. Seeing Rox display such intense emotion, Cote said nothing, shrugged again, and shook his head Felter glanced at Rox, who opened his mouth to shout again, and muttered with a sigh.

"...It does not matter either way. For now, the common point is that we can crush the transfer students coming from the three countries—Karvan, Grandsands, and Maple Leaf."

As Felter made that dangerous statement and tried to summarize things, Cote frantically waved both hands.

"N-no, no, we cannot take such rough measures. They are coming to Fiddiq Academy through proper procedures, so expelling them would create friction. What if it leads to war?"

As Cote desperately tried to calm the two of them down, Rox crossed his arms and sat back down in his chair.

"...Then what do we do? While we're at it, like Cote Highland, another man might come from Bushmills as well."

"Is that not the same for the Verted Kingdom?"

Cote asked back with a puzzled look at Rox's question. Rox made an ambiguous face and looked away.

"...My country is probably fine. I don't know the details, but apparently my mother put pressure on the other nobles."

Hearing Rox say that, Cote gave a strained smile.

"W-well, as expected of Queen Lea. Even without being the sovereign, she can keep the other nobles in check..."

As Cote expressed that admiration in amazement, Felter also gave a slight nod in agreement.

"...The Bushmills Empire is the same. They have apparently told others that since I am at the academy, no one else is needed."

Felter said that in a bored tone, and Rox frowned.

"I understand Marquis Ramsay's intentions, but weren't you supposed to think of Aoi as your master?"

"...That is right."

Felter answered Rox's question *tersely. Rox gave him a skeptical look but said nothing further.

[*Tersely means speaking or writing using very few words, often sounding abrupt, blunt, or slightly rude.]
