Mataguchi’s monologue, POV

I’m wasting time here, honestly. It’s about time

The rain continued to pour heavily outside, the cold air blew while the smell of dust lingered on the air.

Shion and i stood on the exit way for the school building ready to leave. Shion opened her umbrella, her eyes gazing to me who stood next to her.

I didn’t have a umbrella with me it was a bit cold to just walk under. Shion hesitated at first and was tiring so hard to tease me about it but failed and was under her umbrella

What a Pushover.

I immediately walks closer, entering under her umbrella canopy. "Apreciated"

Shion directed her eyes away immediately from me "you are welcome.." she murmured, her voice low as if whispering to herself.

I noticed that immediately, why wouldn’t I? Is she embarrassed?

She did hugged me back at the infirmary.

We walked in silence on the rain, the constant sound of the thunder sound that flows from me lighting discharge on the dark clouds. While the rain remained unending, the ground were wet, drops bouncing from direct impact on the floor.

I watches the rain drops that fell from the umbrella edges in silence.

The beats of rain drops against the umbrella canopy made a soothing rhythm but then came another thunder sound, this time it felt closer than the rest.

Shion shaked a bit from the shock, her hands holding the handle tightly. I had noticed all this but kept quiet for some moment.

Should I point it out, I should try teasing her with it.

"You should be more honest.....with yourself Shion." I uttered still looking ahead.

The road wasn’t completely empty as vehicles roam passed at some point occasionally.

Shion turned to me upon hearing my statement. "Huhh? What do you mean honest?"

"Don’t get the wrong idea, I’m not scared or anything.....I...I just-"

"I just felt suddenly cold that’s all"

Yeah yeah, you not fooling anyone.

The sidewalk light-pole light flickers as we both passed by, up ahead were a lone of same light-poles.

"Right" i responded not protesting at all but distracted and focused on the rain drops that poured from the sky.

Shion eyes scanned my expression, noticing as i wasn’t paying any attention to her.

"Besides, you are the one not been honest" Shion inserted.

"Hmm" i muttered, my attention caught.

"The reconciliations between me and Oota you have a hand in it..."

"Even if it wasn’t all your doing, I can still find your doing within those events" shion said her eyes remaining pointed at me.

She’s still doing it....

She already knows about some of the deeds about the event pulled, now subtly trying to extract all of the truth....it would be no use or more less stupid to attempt deceiving further...

My eyes remained forced ahead, i then turned to her "I guess you already figured me out, you are smarter than you look Shion"

The drones must be part of her tactic to get me to talk, no one is allowed to lie directly under surveillance.

Or she’s too attached to the fact I can’t do so because of my mom

"It’s true, I did made some plans but i guess it was all went down to letting things work out over time." I returned my gaze, continued to stare at the rain drip while they walked into the light range of another light-pole.

"You know the note-books I asked you to copy right?"

"Yeah.." Shion replied tho she sound as if she was expecting the conversation to turn to that direction.

"It wasn’t mine, but Oota’s" my eyes turned to Shion before adding "and it seems to me that you don’t at all surprised about the reveal"

The roaming sound of the cars engine approaching from behind while it passes them, the air becomes more cold as the blew passed.

Man, this weather is bad for my health.

"Well, I have already knew of your part in this event...."

Right.

She spent the next minute explaining the deductions she’d made. I’d already reached the same conclusions myself.

Her affection for him created a blind spot... She would rather accept a confusing, happy truth that brings her closer to Oota than investigate a discrepancy that might ruin the moment...

This was to lead her to this particular conclusion, of her figuring out the false truth...the book event...

The greatest deception man suffer is from their own opinions....

This was fun but it ended here, I still have other things important to do. I wouldn’t want to arrival late. It should be at that location, not to mention the boy from school.

"I did it cause-" i tried to insert a reason but was stopped half way in.

"I don’t need your excuses"

"Anyways...." Shion went quite not uttering a word

"I’m grateful" she added, a voice extremely low.

"Hmm.." i muttered but then Shion suddenly screamed to cover up the moment.

"Anyways, I have plans this weekend you wanna tag along?" Shion added, her voice loud and energetic all of a sudden.

She’s covering it up...

She later tried inviting me for the weekend hangout but I sorta just down. I was already invited to the same hangout by Oota.

Yeah as anyone would have guess she was jealous but tried hiding it, it was obvious.

"...." i remained silence as she finished making her statement.

Should I have warned him? No he wouldn’t believe even if I told him.

Besides it’s just a guess on my part, no proof of attachment shown.

"Come on, say something.....don’t go blank on me Prez" Shion taps me on the side with her elbow.

But yeah there isn’t anytime where one can keep quite with Shion around.

"Wait do you want me to say?..." i replied sounding tried.

"Gezz, Well say something, don’t go quite"

"Yeah. Indeed...this is truly a bother" i muttered to myself out loud.

"Where did that came from?" Shion protested while the rushed the end of the zebra crossing line, the both continued walking together forward.

We reach to a halt, it was finally time to split, her dorm was on the other side.

"Alright I should be on my way, don’t catch a cold on your way back okay" she added.

But I didn’t answer. I stood there waving, she waved back in response.

I waited till she was a bit ahead before walking away. Was that the proper way a boy should treat a girl?

On the road leading to the Mataguchi residence, i walked in silence my eyes direction facing forward but then i turned slightly to the right seeing my house up ahead.

I turned back observing for something before continuing to move forward. I didn’t eat to be followed, I mean anything could happen, right?

It’s about time... tho I don’t like it been this close to home...

I turns to the right in front of my house,

This a high-stability path..

A sudden clicking sound from my bag tho not loud cause of the rain but i heard it and wasn’t surprised in the slightest.

The Scintillation Counter has clarify my calculations...

My eyes drifted to the right where our neighbours house was located, I mean dorm was located.

The place had signs of someone walking in and out, but if it was that person the place won’t be left like that...

My phone rang interrupting me, it was sort of sudden. I reached out for my pocket.

It was phone call from Oota...at this time...

I answered but didn’t say a word, i wanted to be sure if it was Oota speaking. But then i noticed the white haired boy from this afternoon, he had in his usual samue clothing, running passby.

There.

But then i noticed the Oota’s gasping through the phone.

Is he alright?

This was something but if Oota was this unstable, it could ruin a lot of opportunities in the future.
