Chapter 1628: Chapter 355: Boss Luo Pulls Another All-Nighter for Immortal Cultivation

  • Next Chapter

When a massive fireball, as tall as a person and blazing, suddenly fell from the sky, shattering the earth upon impact, Lamias was no longer concerned with whether everything before her was real or fictional, nor about the tasks Boss Luo wanted her to accomplish.

What she should be thinking about is how she could save her own life.

Because this terrifying fireball was only the appetizer on the table; the real feast was yet to follow.

Hundreds and thousands of giant fireballs were striking the earth like a meteor shower, crazily bombarding it… countless warriors and devils on the battlefield were dying in this horrific fireball attack.

Gods’ War!

The scorching waves, the sound of golden armor and iron horses that seemed to tremble the soul, and the roars from gods wielding immense power of heaven and earth… Lamias’ face turned pale as she turned and sprinted away.

This was likely the fastest dash she had ever made in her life.

She felt all her potential was being suppressed as not even a bit remained… her ordinary human body forced its way through the uneven wilderness, running under nine hundred meters.

The extreme load made Lamias’ heart feel like a soon-to-explode engine… her mind nearly blank, she felt an unprecedented fear from the danger at hand.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch.

The mansion’s owner could protect her with no regard to cost, even knowing she would attract the Black Religious Congregation, he was indifferent… he only required her to do a certain task.

But this task was indeed one that could claim her life at any minute!

In such a terrifying battlefield, let alone accomplishing the tasks assigned by Boss Luo — surviving alone was already a hellish difficulty!

She ultimately could not outrun those massive fireballs falling from the sky — when a fireball slammed down behind her and exploded, the gigantic shock wave blew her body into the air, casting her into a distant trench, and Lamias’ consciousness directly shut off due to the impact and shock.

She landed, crawled like a dog… and fainted away.

She lost consciousness, her body lay atop the corpse of a one-eyed giant… but this era-defining terrifying war did not end because she fell into a coma.

What was going had to go, as ever… the boiling water did not change with one drop of seawater falling into it.

The sky remained scorching.

“This war shall continue unabated! Victory shall ultimately belong to us gods! Hades! Your plot shall eventually be shattered!”

The grand and authoritative voice again echoed across the sky, accompanied by thunder and lightning, it was the sky’s supreme might.

From the distant depths of the dark earth, a voice equally cold and unyielding replied, “Then fight till the last moment… Zeus.”

The earth suddenly began to burn.

…

“Quickly, there are injured here, I need food, clean water, and more importantly, anti-hemorrhagic medicine!”

“Warrior, wake up, your life has not ended yet. For the glory of the gods and the survival of humanity, I command you to stand again on the earth even if only one leg is left!”

“Help… help me… help me…”

Light and shadow streamed like shuttles, and slightly opened eyes, now saw heavy shadows passing swiftly… Lamias only felt a buzzing sound in her ears, an overwhelming nausea and dizziness urged her to vomit.

She struggled to lift her body, realizing she was presently inside a makeshift tent, surrounded by roughly ten heavily injured soldiers… among them were female warriors, whose alarming wounds made Lamias want to close her eyes again and hope to wake herself from the nightmare.

Tents like the one she was in, a variety of forms, surrounded the area numbering at least fifty or sixty… the sky was gray, and faintly, sounds of fighting could be heard from a distance.

Lamias knew she still hadn’t escaped the terrifying battlefield with the gods — this must be a rear camp for the wounded soldiers, though she couldn’t tell which side it belonged to.

Hades? Gods’ War… Zeus?

In a flash, the voices she heard before fainting replayed in her mind, causing a pounding headache the moment she awoke — she recalled names and stories tied to them from her past memories.

Many myths exist about the Ancient Greek God Kingdom in the present world, and even a large number of scholars are dedicated to studying these myths — for long the Black Religious Congregation has aimed to overthrow the Holy Church, tirelessly searching for usable powers within various myths.

“But… historically, records have never mentioned normal epochal gods’ wars.” Lamias muttered to herself, pressing her swollen head: “The official stories never describe the fall or death of the Lord of the Sky, so I have no idea of the outcome of this war…”

“If this isn’t him using some kind of illusionary magic on me, then he truly sent me back to this ancient gods’ war in the distant past…” Lamias suddenly shivered, “Is he a god… or a human?”

Sending someone back to the past, this was a concept completely beyond common understanding.

Lamias, as an incredibly rooted human, and even the master among magicians, or the strongest Divine Arts users in the Holy Church… those powerful non-humans she knew might not understand.

——Hope, you can help me find someone.

Suddenly, Luo Qiu’s voice emerged from the depths of her heart… Lamias’ previously chaotic mind felt as if it was combed clear, gradually sharpening — this was the information she gained upon crossing time to this battlefield of gods.

“As long as I find that person, I can return to my original time!”

She stood up abruptly!

“Where is this place?”

Upon learning the way back, Lamias instinctively grabbed a nearby female warrior who had just awoken painfully, her arm severed, bleeding from the wound, asking anxiously.

The female warrior replied instinctively through her pain, “This is the Constellation of the Immortal, hero Perseus’ camp for injured soldiers, how could you not know? Why do you dress differently from us… could you be from Hades’ faction?!”

“Perseus? Constellation of the Immortal? So this must be the formation of the gods from Mount Olympus?” Lamias’ lips moved slightly, assessing her situation quickly, before the female warrior could shout, she knocked her out again.

She stripped off the battle armor from the female warrior, wearing it herself, smearing the blood from the other’s wounds on her bare skin.

After picking up a broken sword and a dented shield from the ground, Lamias kept her head down and hurriedly walked out of the wounded camp.

She had traveled through time with nothing — not even the Reversed Holy Relic she’d always carried was on her.

The Reversed Holy Relic surely wasn’t lost during her coma; she simply hadn’t brought it back — Lamias checked herself the moment she arrived here.

Which means, she was starting from square one for Boss Luo’s request… almost dead on arrival!

“But how can I find that person?”

Having exited the soldiers’ camp, intending to retreat to the rear battlefield for a while, Lamias felt bewildered.

At that moment, a heavy hand clapped on her shoulder, a deep voice asked, “Where are you going? This isn’t the direction towards the battlefield!”

A bloody War General.

Lamias turned to see the nearly two-meter-tall man in front of her, in a terrifying blood-stained armor, with a murderous look on his face, and instantly gave up any thought of drawing a sword.

“You’re thinking of fleeing? Woman!” the War General glared down, a gleam of killing intent flashing in his eyes.

Lamias calmly shook her head, “Even on the battlefield, isn’t it allowed for a woman to deal with some physiological issues?”

The War General snorted coldly and, without saying a word, slapped Lamias across the face with such force that she was sent flying.

Her vision blurred with stars, blood spouted from her mouth. She lay on the ground, struggled several times before stumbling to her feet, but her hair was instantly grabbed by the War General, who then roughly pulled her forward.

“Wait! What do you want to do? Let go of me! Let go of me!”

“Shut up, woman!!” The War General turned around at this moment and hit Lamias hard in the stomach!

The power of the punch to the abdomen was immense, and Lamias felt like her internal organs were all mixed up, her body went limp, but the War General still dragged her by the hair…

…

…

Present world.

The huge light pillar shot from the center of the town, its radiance spread over the large outlying suburban land… Inside the mansion, Boss Luo was still standing on the terrace of Lamias’ room, quietly watching the birth of the light pillar ahead.

In his hand, he was holding the necklace of the Reversed Holy Relic… This necklace fell directly to the ground after Lamias disappeared.

“Looks like there’s no loophole to exploit.” Luo Qiu whispered to himself.

It’s imaginable, Lamias, without any Power on her, being in that place, what kind of challenge it would be—what he hoped Lamias could accomplish was, strictly speaking, equivalent to creating a miracle.

“Master?”

Behind was the voice of the Maid.

The Maid walked slowly over, casting a puzzled glance at Lamias’ room—just moments ago, Boss Luo had left from her sight in a hurry.

“Where’s Lamias?” You Ye asked softly at that time.

Boss Luo thought for a moment and said, “I asked her to take care of something for me… as payment for the shelter we provide her.”

The Maid glanced again at the Reversed Holy Relic in her Master’s hand, brushed her hair, and suddenly said, “What kind of challenge is it…”

Boss Luo shook his head, then thought for a moment and said, “When she comes back, I’ll decide about her shelter based on whether she completes it or not.”

The Maid nodded.

Boss Luo said, “If she meets my expectations, then help her completely resolve the problem with the Black Religious Congregation.”

“Okay.” The Maid still nodded.

Resolving the Black Religious Congregation was not a difficult matter for the Maid, but the so-called “completely” mentioned by Boss Luo was something she would need to ponder over carefully.

Luo Qiu suddenly smiled slightly, reaching out his hand; the Maid understood, stepping forward and naturally placing her palm into her Master’s.

Luo Qiu looked at the pillar of light ahead and said, “It’s unlikely I’ll be able to sleep tonight, let’s go for a walk.”

…

…

On the sea, inside the control room of the huge submarine, it was deathly silent—the massive figures fallen by the beach road were displayed on the control room’s screen.

Captain Justin’s eyes flashed with shock and fear, feeling a chill rising straight into his brain.

The three powerful battle groups of the Black Religious Congregation had just died silently… none of them even had a chance to report what happened back.

The screen showed footage sent back by the submarine’s reconnaissance devices.

“What on earth… happened?”

Captain Justin collapsed weakly into his chair—the communication device attached to his ear had been connected to the Commander of the Black Religious Congregation all along.

But now, he could only hear the Commander’s increasingly heavy breathing—the Commander’s silence made Captain Justin feel uneasy like sitting on pins and needles.

Until, on the screen, a huge light pillar appeared, and the bright light filled the control room, illuminating every crew member’s face. Captain Justin couldn’t help but shiver and spoke bitterly, “Commander, should we now?”

At this moment, the screen suddenly switched, and the grotesque face of Master Plaid appeared.

Captain Justin’s expression turned complicated upon seeing the increasingly repulsive face.

But before he could speak, Master Plaid’s eyes suddenly glowed with fanaticism, and he exclaimed excitedly, “Found it! The source of energy sufficient to initiate the final transmutation! Did you see that light pillar! It’s magnificent, I can feel the enormous energy it emanates! If I’m not mistaken, it should be a vision full of Soul Power and the Power of Life! Seize it! Seize it! You must seize it!”

“We can’t even get close!” Captain Justin exclaimed angrily, “Whoever goes near it dies in an instant!”

“That’s your problem! I just want it!” Master Plaid snorted coldly and directly cut off the communication.

“Ridiculous!” Captain Justin immediately slammed his fist into the electronic control panel on the armrest.

“Justin…” At that moment, the Commander of the congregation, who had been silent all along, finally spoke, “Activate the War Soldiers from Warehouse 01.”

Captain Justin was taken aback but instinctively said, “But… we don’t have enough manpower to control them right now.”

“It doesn’t matter,” the Commander said slowly, “This time, I will control the War Soldiers personally… my solo control will be more precise than multi-person control. Do as I say.”

“Understood…” Captain Justin gritted his teeth, then quickly reached out and pressed a button on the control panel in front of him.

Deep within the submarine, in a hidden, dark warehouse, hundreds of eerie green lights suddenly lit up… like pairs of icy green eyes staring.

…

“Such a rich aura of Life and Soul Power…”

Master Plaid was standing on the deck after the submarine surfaced, gazing at the light pillar over the distant town, showing a hint of delight on his face, chuckling, “Getting it should heal my injuries significantly… this is a good thing!”

But at this moment, a man’s voice slowly came, almost startling Master Plaid’s heart to jump out.

“Are you the visitor from beyond the sky who brought Structural Alchemy, sir?”

Master Plaid suddenly swiveled his bloated body, only to see a pair of unknown caucasian man and woman had somehow arrived behind him.

They came hand in hand.
